Hi...m408...you are right....the number 1-3/4'' is wrong it must be 3.5 (3-1/2'') it is not necesary to enlarge once more..thanks for your observation . I will post tomorow photos of the backdrops I purchase today at Colonial Hobby Shop ,Orlando. And the enlargements I did at Office Max...have fun...Barbo

Hi....Gregg....the backdrop (background) I used for the TRIBUTE TO 911 Diorama is from a aniversary calender . About having enlarged a backdrop , I go to Office Max it cost less . They do not know about scale, but what I do is , if it is a natural outdoor scenary I use what is known as EYE-METER , I decide what I want to be viewed by the spectator so I can play with scale. Now, if the backdrop has a structure I use a scale point of view ,such as windows , doors or any element that I can measure with a scale . For example , a HO (1/8'') scale backdrop with a typical entrance door of aprox. 7'-0'' (feet) tall, the door is 7/8'' tall. This is the formula:::::: I enlarge twise the HO scale backdrop and I have a 'O' scale (1/4'')backdrop with a door of 7/4'' tall . I enlarge twise the 'O' scale backdrop and I have a G scale (1/24) backdrop with a door of 1-3/4'' tall. I hope this can help .......have fun....Barbo

Hi.....this my 1/24 tribute Diorama to those that are not with us today . It's not a matter of world history , its a matter living the moment that will never be forgotten . Two years ago I was at New York at the design exhibtion for the future and new buildings that would replace the World Trade Center . And believe me, none of them were at my agreeable . If I would of been the person responsible to choose the new skyscrapers , I would of done the same World Trade Center structures with no changes at all......PERSISTENCE is the power of glory....Barbo http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FL000002.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FL000004.jpg

Thanks for the info....I downloaded all the event rules and map....not too many categories , but it is a great show. I do only dioramas ,...that means that in a event like this I have 99.99% of posibility of not winning . I have also been in other events with more categories , and not always win a award, I think, as a model builder , I want my models to do a great impression. Winning or not winning for me is not so important as to be part of the game , and to be with the best . No heart feelings , this is only my idea of a hobby.............................Barbo.

Hi....Gregg , have a great trip , hope you do another photography seminar in another event............Barbo

Hi...as I said in my last message , I rather use FOAMBOARD for my Diorama bases. Foamboard is a 3/16'' thick hard foam covered with white or black cardboard. Here are some step by step photos of a small foamboard base , the technique is the same no matter the size. The largest foamboard diorama base I have made is 30''x 42'' with no problem of wrinkle or bending . Photo (1) determine the size of the diorama base draw and cut the foamboard ,measure and cut 5/8'' high foamboard side panels . Photo (2) (3) glue the side panels to the base , I use white Elmers glue. Photo (4) Cut a foamboard inner brace for stability and strenght , the bigger the base , more inner brace is needed . Photo (5) Cut another same size foamboard base and glue it to the full base structure . Photo (6) (7) measure and cut 4 balsa side panels from from 1/8'' x 1'' x 36'' strips and hold with masking tape. The rest is your imagination . The diorama base height may vary , if so, the foambord and balsa side panels must also vary.....Have fun............Barbo. http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FH000003.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FH000007.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FH000008.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FH000010.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb4985/FH000015.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb.../FH000016-1.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb.../FH000017-1.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb.../FH000020-1.jpg http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/mb.../FH000022-1.jpg
