Hi all Finally I took some time to take gallery pictures of my Lamborghini Veneno I finished a few weeks ago. For all those who are interested, the work in progress thread can be found here: Now on to the pictures. For once I didn't take the model to the studio, but used a photobox by scaleproductions.de. I hope you enjoyed the pics Urs

Hi all Thank you for your kind comments and pics of your own Morgans. I have to agree that these wire wheels are really excellent. I brushed on some Alclad Smoke to make them even more pop and am just excited by their look The seats have got some very thin leather. In reality they look much better than on the picture. I'll still have to add some piping, but so far I couldn't really decide on a color and on how to make it. Also the edges will have to be reworked to clean them up a little. The engine has been completed and attached to the undercarriage And finally the motor compartment has been painted black and the body got waxed That's all for the moment. The next few steps will be to thin some more leather pieces, cut them out and apply them. Then do some wood painting on the dashboard and steering wheel. Urs

Hi all The last two weeks I was almost exclusively doing stencils for the carbon decals and afterwards cutting them. In order to be able to apply them, I had to prime and paint the parts. This time I'm trying to paint the seat in Alclad Gun Metal prior to applying the decals, hoping that minor mistakes won't show up that obvious because of the underlying color. The roll cage has been painted in Alclad Stainless Steel. I didn't decide yet whether I'll use the kit parts for the cushions or whether I'll apply some shrinking tube The interior got its first few carbon decals applied. Unfortunately I couldn't do as much as I had liked, but it's a start at least. That's all for the moment. I wish you all a good start in the next week. Urs -
Hi all After the rather nerve-wrecking build of my Lamborghini Veneno I decided I needed something easier to build. As I already did the same model (with a different livery) almost a year ago, I know what I have to expect. First I assembled and sanded the body Then I had to cut out some holes for the PE parts. Using a 0.2 mm scriber, some photoetched saws and some small routers that went really well and much faster than last year The undercarriage has been assembled and is waiting for primer and paint And also the roll cage has been completed and is waiting for primer and paint as well. That's it for the first update. As always I am looking forward to your plaudits, criticism, questions and suggestions Urs

Hi all Some years ago, soon after my restart in this hobby, I saw this kit and knew I had to have it. Since then I always wanted to build it, but somehow always some other kit slipped in between. But when I was working on my Lambo Veneno and needed some kind of distraction I decided that it was time to finally start it. I was working on it for some weeks now already, so don't be surprised by the quite extensive first post First I started with the engine. It is not yet finished, so far I just did what I was in the mood for. The chassis has been assembled and painted as far as it was already possible The brake discs have been completed Dashboard and steering wheel got their base color for some further wood application. I tried to do the dashboard with some self-printed wood decals. I don't know whether I never sealed them (they were sitting on my shelf for months if not even for years now) or whether the Micro Liquid Decal Film has some kind of half-life. When I wanted to apply them I took some clean white decal film out of a slightly brownish colored water... I don't know yet whether I'll give it a second try or whether I shall paint it by brush as I will do with the steering wheel. The seats have been painted in their base color before I will apply some very thin genuine leather And last but not least the body got its primer and color. On the engine hood I tried to emphasize the louvres by adding some black paint in between them. Currently I'm not really sure whether I should like it the way it turnd out or if I should remove the black paint... That's how far I am at the moment. From now on the updates will significantly decrease in their extent. I hope you like this build and am looking forward to your plaudits, criticism, questions and suggestions. Urs

Thanks Tim. That's exactly how i feel now. I had it sit on my bench for more than half a year and spent 100 hours (I wonder what for?) and nevertheless I'm only happy to have it finished, but I'm not satisfied with the result at all.

Hi all Welcome to the last update in this WIP. This week I could finally finish the Veneno, although it resisted its completion. When I tried to add the body to the undercarriage, I suddenly heared some crackling noise and noticed that the carbon part on the back was ripped off and damaged the carbon decals? The problem was that the body should have been placed from behind in order that the two pins on the carbon part could slip horizontally into their respective holes in the undercarriage. Simultaneously in the front the body should be placed almost vertically to the undercarriage. As the back part already was off I tried to attach the body to the undercarriage without it and had to notice that even that was not possible. On the underside there was a gap between the splitter which was attached to the body and the undercarriage. I just couldn't manage to get it right. Finally I decided to remove the splitter from the body and attach it to the undercarriage. After that it was absolutely no problem to add the body the way it was meant to be. So I first added the back part to the undercarriage, then the splitter and finally the body. As there was quite some tension on these two parts I first glued the back and let the glue cure overnight. The next day I glued the splitter to the body which caused the next damage But as I only wanted to get rid of this PITA I didn't care too much about that. Luckily the two damaged spots are both on the same side of the car, so they can easily be hidden when I place the car in the cupboard. Finally two pics of the final car which unfortunately didn't turn out the way I wanted it in the beginning. I don't think Tony Stark was pleased by this build... I wish all of you a nice sunday and hope to see you in my next WIP. Urs

Hi all Thank you Sometimes if I really get frustrated by a kit I think of giving up but in the end my ambition won't let me give up until it's either finished or definitely unsavable. After almost eight months of building I'm slowly entering the home stretch First the wheels have been mounted the doors could be finished and finally the bonnet got it's final coats of color. Afterwards I finally could clearcoat the whole body Now only a few small parts have to be added then it will be finished. It sure will be eye-catching but not the gem I hoped when I started this build. That's all for the moment. I wish all of you a nice and restful sunday. Urs

Hi all Thank you for your kind comment. I really appreciate it and it keeps me moving forward with this build. As mentioned in my last update, this time I have more to show you First I primered the bonnet for a third (and hopefully last) time and painted the fin with Volkswagen Cosmiggelb. It was definitely a good thing to strip the paint and reapply some filler. The small imperfection on top of the fin has completely disappeared now. At least on this side. On the opposite side it is still slightly visible but much better than before. At the beginning of this week I attached the seatbelts and completed the interior. Once that was done, it was time to bring it together with the undercarriage Today the two doors, the rear view mirrors, the horizontal parts of the spoiler and the rim rings got some clear coat. While I am happy with the outcome of the mirrors and the rim rings, I will still have some dust to sand out at the larger parts. Hopefully I won't burn through the clear. That's all for the moment. I wish you all a nice and relaxing weekend Urs

Hi all As you can see, I didn't give up on the Veneno, although I only made some small progress last week. First I stripped the bonnet for the second time The seats could be completed and the pads for the center console got their carbon / fibre. That's it already for this week's progress. I hope that there will be more to show next week Urs

Hi all Time for the next (and possibly the last) update. It could be the last update because I'm thinking about aborting this build because too much didn't turn out the way I wanted it. And as I am working on this kit for too long already, I don't know whether I would continue somewhen in future if I just put it back on the shelf. But let's start with the thing that went well this last week: the decals on the center of the rims. Now the rims only need some clear coat to be finished. The plan was to clearcoat them together with the body. Yesterday I noticed that the red on the bonnet was way darker than on the rest of the body, so the bonnet will be stripped for the second time... ? Then I applied the decals on the tires. In addition to the writings there should be two thin red arcs on each tire. When applying them, the second arc was already wrapped around the tip of the brush unsavably, so I decided to leave them away completely. After a few days I clear coated the tires with some matt varnish by Vallejo to seal them in. Right after applying the clear I could watch the decals wrapping up and separating from the tires... ? My plan now is to strip the bonnet from the paint, repaint it and decide afterwards whether I will continue or get rid of this Lambo. Somehow it has never been a real fun build so far and I don't suppose that to change in future. Urs

Hi all Thank you. The clear will still have to wait for a while until I'm finished with the preparation of all the body parts. Thank you. I hope to do Tony Stark justice with the build of this Lambo. Initially the idea for this painting came up about one year ago when my son was in his Ironman-phase Thank you too. This week I made some progress on my Veneno. Mainly with the interior parts. First the middle console received its resin switches For the dashboard I cut a cover for the speedo from some transparent sheet (here still covered with some Tamiya tape to protect it from scratches) and now with the cover attached. To glue it I used Ultra Glue by mig, which dries completely transparent and gives a quite strong bond but leaves you enough time to position the parts. After that the interior got some PE parts To finish it up here a picture of a dry fit of all the interior parts already ready to assemble. There are still some pads missing at the center console which I first have to complete detailing. After that the rims got some detail painting and PE parts. Now they only need their decals and a cover up with some clear coat. Today I attached the rear wheel arches and two parts at the back. That's all for this week. I wish you a good start into the new week. Urs

Hi all It's been quite a while since I opened this WIP. Unfortunately there is still not too much progress to show you. In the last few weeks I painted the body, stripped the paint because I noticed some scratches in the body I didn't see beforehand. The main part of my building time was eaten up by making stencils for the carbon decals, cutting the decals out and applying them. But let me show you the progress I made so far: The cast on switches at the center console had been removed and will be replaced by some 3rd party switches. First of all it was easier to paint them and second it's now possible to show one switch open. Yesterday the center console got some detail painting and its decals The dashboard got its gauge decal too Today all body carbon parts have received their clearcoat (Zero Paints' 2K Semi Gloss Clear). Representative for this I'll show you one of the side skirts Finally the body has been repainted but not yet clear coated. After clearcoatig I will add some semi-gloss black in the area right behind the doors below the sharp bend. That's all for today. I hope you won't have to wait as long for the next update as this time. Urs

Thank you very much for your kind comments Yes, that's right. According to Wikipedia the patent No. 37435 was awarded by the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin on November 2 1886 for the first self-propelled vehicle for carrying people. Meanwhile I was able to finish the Motorwagen. More and better pictures will follow once I've made it to the photo studio again. Thanks for watching and I hope to see you on my next build Urs

Hi all Long time no post in this thread as I was kept quite busy in my daily job, so that I was too tired in the evenings to continue work on my models. But now business is back to normal, so there is some time to work on them again So the last few days I was able to continue work on the Motorwagen and now it's time to welcome you to the second to last update in this thread. First the seat bench has been completed Then the wheels have been assembled. There I noticed that I didn't pay enough attention when inserting the spokes as they made some trouble when putting the two halves together. But nothing that couldn't have been solved with some filler and CA glue After that the chains were assembled and painted. Each chain consists of three PE parts (unfortunately made out of brass, so I had to paint them). For painting I used Alclad Stainless Steel followed by a wash with Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color Black And the Motorwagen itself with built-in engine. I'm not really happy with the belt as the leather I used turned out to be a little too thick and fringy. But I fear that I would destroy more if I tried to replace it by something else, so I'll have to live with it. Finally most of the parts left to assemble placed side by side That's it for the moment. I wish all of you a nice weekend. Urs

Hi all I just noticed that it's almost a month since I last posted something here. Unfortunately I can't spend much time on my workbench due to my job. But hopefully by end of march it should improve First the frame got some more parts and paint. The silvery bar at the back will be painted in a wood look. The silver paint is only there to cover the dark green that covers the rest of the frame. The engine parts have been painted too. Some minor detail painting still has to be done though To finish today's update I couldn't resist to put some of the parts together (without glueing) to get a first impression to where this journey will lead I hope, it won't take me another four weeks before I'm able to update this w.i.p. Hi Mike That sounds very interesting, as I'm always struggling with the Liquid Chrome when I have to handle the chromed part afterwards. Can you tell a little more about the way you did it? Did you let it dry outside the dehydrator first? And if so, how long did you wait before putting it in? How long did you leave it in the dehydrator and at what temperature? Thank you Urs

Thank you That's Zero Paints' Textured Charcoal Paint.

Hi all Already while working on my Ferrari 488 Spider I started work on the Lamborghini Veneno by Fujimi. I will also use the PE set from Hobby Design. First I started with the brake discs from the PE set and painted the rims Then I assembled the body as far as I could. The engine hood is only put on top without glueing yet. But nevertheless I assembled too much for the engine to be inserted. Luckily that is not such a tragedy because on one hand the engine consists of one single piece which is more like a relief and on the other hand you hardly can't see anything through the narrow vents in the hood. And as I planned to glue the hood in place anyway I will just cut the engine in two pieces and insert as much as possible, so that you can see from the outside that there seems to be something inside The main part of the work so far has been making stencils for the carbon decals and applying them. As I was afraid to rip off the textured paint when masking it to clear coat the carbon decals I decided to first apply the decals, then clear coat and apply the textured paint last. To clear coat I used AK's Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer, which was dry to the bone after only about 10 minutes. So I took the risk to mask it after only one hour drying time and apply the textured paint over it. As you can see, everything worked fine (beside of the spots around the air vents in the dashboard, where I masked off too much). That's all for today. I hope to have piqued your interest in this build Urs

Hi all After my Ferrari I decided I wanted to do something quite different. The moment I saw that ICM would release the Benz Patent-Motorwagen I knew that I wanted to build it. Then I got it as a christmas present by my wife and the urge to start it got stronger and stronger during completion of the Ferrari. So it was time to get it off the shelf and start building it First I made some kind of jig out of some styrofoam, some needles and a few toothpicks to hold the frame in place while letting the glue dry. Meanwhile the frame is already painted in black green. ICM tells you to paint the whole frame black, but I wanted it more the way this replica looks like: https://www.scalenews.de/benz-patent-motorwagen-walkaround-66/ The engine has been built and waits for some color and some additional wiring. As I saw in another WIP the propeller shaft is quite weak, especially if you exercise your option to build it with a scratch built belt. That's why I cut some brass wire to the length needed. Now I only have to remove the cast on axle and drill some holes to mount the wire. The flywheel has already been painted and is waiting for its final assembly And last but not least the footrest has been assembled an painted. That's all for the moment. I hope you enjoy following me on this journey Urs

Hi all Although I had vacation last week I couldn't do as much as intended, so the Ferrari is not completely done yet. Most of the parts found their place, but for the remaining work I couldn't find the tranquility I'd need to finish. First of all there's the splitter which needs to be installed and is und quite some tension. Once this is installed, I will have to assemble the wipers, one thing I always mess up when dealing with Hobby Design PE parts. Usually I can then just use the wipers that came with the original kit, but here the PE parts unfortunately are the wipers that came with the original kit, so I will have to find a way to cope with the assembly. But at least I can show you the current state. Nonetheless I think this will be the last update in this WIP. Pictures of the finished model will be published in the RFI section once I managed to install the last parts and take it to the studio. Urs

Hi all Thank you very much for all your kind comments and welcome to the first update in 2021. Maybe it will also be the second to last update in this WIP. First of all the door cards got their last few pe parts, once I finally remembered to paint them a second time. The wheels have been assembled as well. There I had to notice that the screws provided by Alpha Model didn't fit at all. On one hand the drill hole inside the rims, which is meant to meet with the screw was way too large so that the screw just fell inside. On the other hand they are about 3 mm too long for the front wheels. As I didn't have any matching screws at hand, I just half filled the holes in the rims with some gemstone glue, put the breakdiscs on top of the wheel suspension, put the rims on, turned everything around and just put the screw in and let the glue dry. Then I flocked the interior and assembled the pedals along with the footrest Finally the body got its last few pe parts. Today I also attached the windshield, which was quite some struggle because the tension was so high, that the part had to be fixed until the glue completley dried. On top I could use some clamps to hold the parts together, but in the lower corners I had to hold them together by hand. To have some entertainment during these rather long periods of time, I once again watched "Die Another Day" on my surround system The windshield still has its protection sheet on it, that's why it doesn't look that great yet. That's all for the moment. Urs

Hi all Welcome to another update to my Ferrari 488 Spider. This week the calipers have been finished und mounted to the wheel suspension (or at least what Alpha Model provides as suspension in this kit) The steering wheel has been completed and assembled and is now awaiting final assembly as does the center console which got its last carbon piece. The labeling of the buttons has once again been botched up by Giuseppe. Some people think that Giuseppe is on the pay roll of another company based in Sant' Agata Bolognese, but that's only a vague suspicion... Finally the body received its first few PE parts. Also the tailpipes and the diffusor could be attached. The prancing horse on the back unfortunately got wiped off by the first gentle wipe when sanding and polishing the body after clear coating. Now it sits on my cutting mat waiting to be reapplied. Good luck it doesn't seem to be damaged too much. But to be sure, I will have to take a closer look. Luckily the wiped off part was a Metal Transfer sticker while there is also one prancing horse on one of the PE frets. So if it should be damaged or can't be reapplied, I can still use the PE part instead That's all for today. I wish all of you a calm last week of the year and a happy and healthy 2021 Urs

Hi all Thank you and thanks for the tip with the exacto blade. This week's thursday was clear coat day. Unfortunately I wasn't happy at all with the result. In some spots I might have applied to thin, so that I got a quite rough surface and in some other spots the airbrush spit large drops of clear on the body (that was definitivley caused by my own stupidity). But after a few hours of sanding and polishing I think the clear turned out quite acceptable. The door cards in their first version haven't had enough contrast between the different black parts, so I decided to mask off the lower part and repaint the rest with some charcoal textured paint. In real it looks much better now, even if I had to notice that in the pictures there's still hardly any difference visible. The rims got some clear coat as well. After clear had dried, I painted the nuts. Now all that's missing are the air valves. I know, on the real car the cavallino rampante is also visible on the cap of the air valves, but I think, my 488 will have to do without That's all for this week. I wish all of you a merry christmas. Thank you all for you kind comments on this build
