  1. Well since I lost the first 53 for this build,I had to get this one to replace it. This is what I call an extreme custom. I tried this once before and it turned into a mess,so this according to the look I'm going for is going the way I want it to. It is the old MPC kit flip nose, and a Big Time mustang kit. This is the mock up,still needs more work to make it blend together, the bed has been shorten and I will try to fit the mustang rear clip to it. I may blend the mustang hood into the flip nose and have a big block eng. Without anything sticking out of the hood. The hood will lift off instead of fliping. Thanks for looking. Earl
  2. David The paint needs a good gloss look or it may be your camera. As for the contest thing, I agree with everyone here. I took a 69 Camaro to my first NNL contest not expecting anything out of it. Well to my surprise it made the mag. Not this one but they were doing a 40 year annv. on Camaros from all conest for that year. Only the top ten out of about 300 photos of Camaro's made it. When I saw that mine made the top ten that was better than any trophy. Because everyone that has that mag. world wide see's your car. You are the only one that will see that trophy as a reminder. Just build it for yourself and fun thats it. Then if something come's out of it that makes it better. Earl
  3. Here's something to look at.
  4. Charlie The rack on the truck is my design built from evergreen plastic and the bed is a Revell tri axle wrecker changed to fit my needs. The trailer is a Revell kit,the front was redesigned as a stinger style and edges were added on the bottom. The two I plan on building on this deal will have a lot of scratch building and some custom work. A Kenworth & PeterBilt,it's not as bad as it seams since all the time it takes to design something like this is already done. Thank you for the comment. Earl
  5. I think the black is the meanest look. I just went with plain o hemi orange from the can. Wanted to get a quick build done.
  6. I agree very nice work ,looks great.
  7. Yes ser thats a nice build.I know what you mean about the being proud thing my grand daughter is building now and she just hit the 13 year old group He did very good and I hope he sticks to it. As you know the time spent with them on something like this is never forgotten.
  8. very nice good job
  9. The work looks good. But what kind of body are you using?
  10. Try micro mark.com they have what you need for the hobby.
  11. This is a realy good build lot of good detail. I built an optima battery for my 55 chevy also, something that small adds better detail I think. Keep building and posting,I know what you mean about not getting many replies thats just the way it go's is the way I figure it. The replies you get are good ones. Some on this form like this type of model and some do'nt. I'm one that do's like it.Keep up the good building.
  12. This is the interior design that I came up with. All seats came from revells 37 ford, cut apart and open sides reshaped. The rear seats were fit into the kit seat, and part of the kit seat was left in place for trim around custom seats. The console is scratch built, the door panels are plastic sheet cut to match the kit pattern, then covered with foam and Bazzill basics paper for the bottom panel. All the details are not here, they will be finished in the final steps. It is time to break everything down and start paint and assembly.
  13. Thanks man I know what you mean about a kit. I plan on building a KW & a PeterBilt side by side with custom hoods and fenders for truck & trailer, but theres a lot of scratch building time involved in a kit like this.
  14. I would like to join in. I will build a car hauler tri axle truck & trailer. Mild custom if thats o.k. Something like this,I need to build a couple of these anyway to hold my cars that are backing up.
  15. Tom,I can't remember if I had to change the front cage or not, seems like I had to move the firewall forward and build the floor pan to match back up. The paint is gray primer, white primer testors comp. orange, then five coats testors high gloss. The carbs.color is from the lighting there not painted. Thanks for all the comments from everyone.
  16. Changes Front end - Kit disc brakes were cut off and the piece that connects the a-frames together was shaped into a spindle. Rearend - Replaced with one from parts box, spare tire and fuel tank area cut out and replaced with sheet plastic and custom fuel tank, the fuel tank that I built would be bolted on from the top side, thats why there's no straps. The frame will have DM. disc brakes, scratch built coil over shocks and lines for brakes & fuel tank. The front will have wire for the coil springs. The stance will stay where it is. On to the interior it will be a custom deal to. Thanks for looking
  17. The models wheel well do's look better centered up. nice build
  18. Yea,I would keep it the way it is. Someone put a lot of work in it and the old detail material can't be beat. Its yours but if I had it I would just clean it and not change one thing on it. Good find. Here's an idea,a roll off truck with it loaded, going to the new owner or a pick up with a trailer taking it home.
  19. Thanks for the comments Ed the intake is a spare that comes in the revell 70 chevelle street burner kit.#85-2066 I know what your saying about the way the carb. is suppose to set,I just like it better sitting straight. I'm working on the frame now, more changes being made on it to,I'll post photos when I get it mocked up.
  20. Here's the latest. Scratch built radiator support complete with clips, the bolts will be aded before its finished. Scratch built optima style battery with tray, straps will be added later. The brake booster and electronic ignition is from the parts box. I still have to come up with an elect. fan or build one. Also need to add the steering gear box with linkage. It may look cramped but it will all work out in the end. Jeff the pulley's are Detail Master 5 pulley set, screen for the radiator came from Model Car Garage.
  21. Here is the eng. before puddy & paint. I'm going for the car show look. This is the kit eng. with plastic sheet cut & placed on it. Then I shaped it & scratch built brackets,AC unit, oilpan, oil filter mount, oil filter, and heads. On the kit block where the freeze plugs are I covered them with the smooth covers for the custom look. The breather is the radiator top from the parts box. The heads do'nt have the bolt detail yet,not sure if I'll do that because you can not see them after the eng. is in the car.
  22. This is a very nice build. How did you do the door seams? They bring out the detail. The interior is great looking to.I scratch build also and I know what it takes to get it right and you did that very well.
  23. Thanks for all the comments this was my first time doing this much scratch building on a body. At the time I complety changed the body style oh the Revell 41 pick up also. The color is Testors yellow with about 4 coats of testors high gloss. Glenn I live in Hogansville GA. Will you be at the NNL? In Smyrna Nov.13th send me an PM or e-mail and let me know.
  24. Thanks to everyone commenting on this it took a lot to get it the way I wanted it. Mike the trunk interior is made from Creatology Fun Foam from Hobby Lobby, the back panel where the trunk hinges are at,there is a slit cut in it,and it fits snug enoughn to hold the trunk in place. I use this foam for my interiors and it works well with Elmers spray adhesive to glue it in place. Anyone that wants to try some of this stuff and can't find it.PM me and maybe we can work something out. You can send me the money and pay shipping its $1.00 a sheet about a 10x12 I'm not making any money on the deal. Shipping WILL NOT BE E-BAY RATES AT $15.00 for a $5.00 model. It will based on where you live and how much you buy.
  25. Thanks for all the comments These were a challenge to build but well worth it,and I have two more started but there on the back burner right now,I'll dig them back out in the near future and put them up for everyone to see.
