Thanks everyone for the comments. I got started on building a big block for it today. Instead of scratch building the complete eng. block I just built the eng in the kit bigger. I did that because its an easy way to save the block details than to build them. I'm working on the heads and once there done I can post some photos of the mock up. Thanks again.

Looking good Pat I'm building a 55 and would like to know where did you get the tail lights from? Mine is on here under 55 Chevy Mild Custom. A set like that is what I'm looking for. I see you painted yours red, that color looks good on that body style. Can you show some scratch build frame pics.keep up the good work.

Stage 2 Here are the bumpers, changed to a custom design that I came up with. The stock bumpers will not fit the look I'm going for. Also built the custom tag for the trunk.

Stage 1 This is my latest project. Revells Good Guys 55 Chevy The color will be Tamiya Bright Red #TS-49. Interior will be customized with Creatology fun foam from Hobby Lobby. Eng. bay details-I will scratch build a big block eng.with some aftermarket parts. The wheel wells have been smoothed, along with the body. The tires and rims are from Revells 37 Ford kit. I know there is a 3 pic.limit, the reason I put 4 up is because I plan on a step by step build if enough people want to follow along, or some builders with less experience can pick up on something that will help them out. I will be working on this one every weekend untill I finish it,and try to post photos the same weekend. I do have it listed as a mild custom because I will not be doing any major body work, just sanding the trim off to smooth the body up. Maybe if this go's well I'll do some chop top and custom bodies later. Thanks for checking it out,let me know what you think.

Thats some cool pics. Thanks for showing them. I have an 83 Camaro 1/8 scale that I plan on building with all the detail that I can get on it. It is BIGGG and should be a great build. It will be Pro Mod or Pro Street not sure.

That is a great wreck,to a cool ride build. It came out very nice.

The interior is made using [Creatology Fun Foam.] I bought it at Hobby Lobby,Michael's may have it. The foam comes in a lot of diffrent colors. Elmers multi-purpose spray adhesive holds it in place on plastic. Clean the plastic but do not paint or prime it. This interior is raised padding because it is glued right onto the panels. This is my first one so the bugs will be worked out on the next one. Thank's again for all the comments. Earl

As requested more photos, hope you like them. I did'nt take any eng.photos because in this kit Alt.& AC units float in the air. I will build another one with all details and scratch built custom brackets on the engine. Thanks for all of the comments. Earl

Here are some more photos,as you can see this is a basic slam kit,it started out to be a lot of details. I just have to many unfinished kits and I'm triny to just get them done. I am building other pro mods and they will have scratch built roll cages and eng frame tubing. I will take WIP photos to pass on. This was my first roll cage and I need to improve on building them. Like every stage of building I get to,it starts out rough like this one and improves on the next one. As for the dupont and all other race related decals they are from a Revll #24 stock car. As for decals I figure if it fits the panel and do'nt look tacky it will work. I hope they do'nt delete my good photos due to the 3 photo limit these are added for those who requested them. The Camaro is Revells,Yenko.Donor kit for the frame is AMT's 66 Nova Pro Street.Engine from Revell's 55 Pro Sportsman Roll cage is .080 solid plastic rod from evergreen. Thank you to everyone for your comments. Earl

Got tired of this one sitting around. 66 Nova Pro Street doner kit. Decals- 67Chevelle & nascar. Scratch built roll cage and eng. bay frame. Thanks for looking.

I agree with everything you said Jeff. I scratch build alot myself,I have a 69 Chevelle that has 230 pieces that were scratch built because I decided to build my own frame and one thing led to another. I am scratch building a lot of parts for a 1/12 scale Camaro, one thing is the Corvette style rear end that has the u-joints,and a how to on building them the way yours look would be great. The ones that I built are ok but building them the way yours look would be better. Your models look good with all the details, and knowing that a lot of it was scratch built, makes them all the more impressive. Keep up the good work.

A man has got to know his limitations
ewaskew replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Talk about limitations try this. Over the weekend I woke up Sunday morning at 3:15 AM and couldnt sleep,so I finished one of my cars. Then when my 5 year old grandson got up I helped him build his first model,a snap-tite 69 camaro. Then when my 12 year old grandaughter woke up I helped her finish her first glue kit a 70 challenger. That was the best model building day that I have had since I got in to this hobby at age nine, and I have been steady building for the last 14 years. I do'nt set limits on what I can build,I just go to the next step and keep enjoying this hobby. That is what my grandchildren did with there kits and they love it,there builds are on the under glass forum for anyone to check out if they want to. Thanks Earl Miller -
Sure I had to snap 75% of it together for him and half an hour later he already started breaking it,playing with it,but for him it was fun,and he wants to build more, and it's his to do whatever he wants to with it. Thanks for looking.

This was her first glue kit so I did help her with the paint, details and decals. However she did all the body prep. Primer,Red body paint up to the final coat, then I wet sanded it,and clear coated it for her, because at that stage it is to easy to sand through your final coat of paint. And she worked very hard to get it right and I did'nt want her to get discouraged. She assembled all except bumpers, lights. This was the most enjoyment that I have had building models since I started at age 9. Thanks for looking she will be building more, and the next one she builds will be her 100% start to finish.

Thank you Harry Now about the car. It was built to match the mans, dad's car. The cowl hood, bed cover and spoiler, rear bumper, several eng bay parts were all scratch built to match the real car. Now when they take the real car to shows they display the model with it. Let me know what you think Thank you Earl Miller
