  1. Sorry TX, I forgot about posting this.... Well, it looks you figured it out. I don't thin my clear, but I've heard you can, and yes it polishes like lacquer!!! Your cars look awesome!!!
  2. Back in the mid 90's I did quite a few transkits for a guy in Ohio that imported them from Germany. He had kits for 1/18, and the 1/8 Pocher Ferrari's and Porsche 993's. Most of the kits were fairly strait forward, but one Porsche I did used parts from two Porsche diecasts, from different manufacturers, along with resin, and photo-etch. I still have a 1/18 Bburago F-40 trans kit that has aluminum rims, and tons of photo-etch, along with seatbelts. The kit was kinda pricey, around $250. The kits here look very simple, and the price is right!!!
  3. WOW, 5 pages of BS, and only two pics of a model. Kinda wasted space if you ask me.
  4. TX.....I use Dupont/Nason 496-00 Fast flash Clearcoat, and 483-78 Mid Temp Clearcoat Activator, which is a 2 part urethane. I started using it for the same reason your looking at. I needed something to go over decals without harming them, and it works perfectly!!! I get it in a quart (clear) & pint (activator) and is around $35-36. You know all the rest of the story. Just letting you know, it's a perfect solution. It's a little thick, but worked great on 1/43 too...
  5. Excellent reproduction Bob!!! You hit the nail on the head with that one!!!
  6. That must be the Starter F40, it does have some roof issues. I have built more 1/43rd's than I care to remember...lol. I think the BBR F40's were some of the best offered in this scale. You did a great job on this one Dave!!!
  7. Simply beautiful Dave!!! I'll bet that was kind of a break for you!!!
  8. All your work is great Gary, you do some awesome show rods, as well as everything else, welcome aboard!!!

  10. Happy Easter!!! And let's not forget today is Tweedy's 64th Birthday!!!
  11. Well, don't feel bad, my first Harley went bye, bye when I got married to my first wife, it was a '76 Low Rider. After all these years, and I'm single again, I see a new Harley in my future!!! Good for you Terry, let's see more pics when you get it!!!
  12. Yes, what would our worlds be without a few critters. Our 5 year old cat Sassy and here's Kato, the killer pug!!!
  13. Yes Dave, you are correct, they are going to reissue the Dragon Wagon sometime this year, and this has been confirmed by Revell!!!
  14. The Stingaree has been out for over a year now, it was brought back by Retro Hobby in the Flashback series, following the the Trick Trikes. Here is one I built when it came out.....
  15. Just backing up what Dave has said about using clear over black when using Alclad, it is a must do!!! I always use Tamiya gloss black lacquer, and clear, and I have been getting the best results ever. Thanks for all the great tips Dave, maybe the next time I make it to Portland, I can see your shop.....hint, hint....
  16. That's lookin' pretty good Dave!!!
  17. Well, at 50 years old, I have always had a soft spot for the crazy, whacky Show Rod models from back in the day when I was a young kid. I hang out at showrods.com on the Coffin Corner, and have been for years (like Don aka...Showrodfreak) It's gonna be a great year for the show rodders too, as AMT now leased by Tom Lowe, and his big helper John Greczula, both of which are big show rod fans as seen by a few reissues......Lil Stogie, Depth Charger, and Royal Rail. Revell is hot on the trail with some great old Tom Daniel show rods coming back.....Tijuana Taxi, Dragon Wagon, and Rommel's Rod. I have amassed a big collection of older show rod models over my years as a model builder/collector, and enjoy seeing these rare jems come back. In the real 1/1 car world we have great guys that are bringing back some of the original Show Rods from the sixties and seventies this past few years, greats like Darryl Starbird, Mark Moriarity, Dave Shuten, Fritz Schenk, Arron Grote, to name a few, and these gents are restoring, and creating new kustoms with Ed Roth herritage. I for one love the resurgence in wonderful memories from a great time in life. Here is my latest Show Rod clone the "Lil Hotdogger" this was done using a reissued Lil Stogie kit, and a Dave Van laser body kit. All the little pieces such as the interior parts, air cleaner, hydrant tail light, etc were scratch built to make it as close to an original as possible.... Long live Show Rods!!! and here's a great place...... http://www.showrods.com
  18. WOW!!! Very cool concept Raul, and what a great accomplishment in getting it all together.
  19. Hizoot? I think I know some caricature that uses that same handle elsewhere on the net.... Anyway, great model, those tires ARE sick!!!
  20. Do like I do.....Every visit to the hobby shop I buy a little something I don't have as far as styrene goes. Of course at my age, I have about everything... It's amazing though, that no matter what kind of build you have going, if you have a large selection of sheet, rod, tubing, and other shapes, and all in different sizes, all the really cool things that you come up with. I also keep almost all types of brass & aluminum rod, tubing, and sheets. You'll find endless possibilities.
  21. I watched you build it on TRaK, and now it's done, and done right!!!! Great Build as usual!!!
