What'd You Get For Christmas????
RatRod replied to Mike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got some nice sweats, the new Revell 1/24 '30 woody, and a BIG T from my wife!!! I also ended up with someones dishonesty as a gift from my son.....I got a Hotwheels 1/18 pro touring Camaro that someone spent a lot of time & effort installing in a Jada hobby edition BTM box!!! That was the funniest and best gift by far!!! -
Wow!!!! That is amazing!!! Nice clean build, and all your hard work makes it look as real as a can be!!!
-
Very stunning work David!!! I have one of these kits after MPC made it into a street machine, still has all the Nascar stuff except the wheels & tires.
-
Thanks for all the good words!!! Steve, hey.....nice grenade!!!! It doesn't matter about technical, it's still cool!!!
-
Nice builds Steve!!! This is a pretty cool idea showing a years wort of builds, but I don't know if I could remember all that I have done this year!!! Old age is setting in.....
-
Ok, when I first read the title, and seen "real fire on a '67 charger", my first thought was.... , but I gotta say.....WOW!!! You really did this one right!!! Nice job modernizing an old classic with good taste!!
-
Another very nice build Bob!!! As for the wheels...AMT used them in all sorts of kits as extras over the years. When your as old as I am, and have a collection the size of mine, they are every where.....

Man, that is awesome Paul!!! The detail work is fabulous!!! I love the interior work, and you do great under hood detail that is top notch!!!
-
Been working my rear end off to get this one finished!!! There are so many mods to this bike that I just can't type 'em all, but......I reworked the frame....the front was chopped down, and re raked, the rear had the dip taken out. I scratch built the oil tank to fit the new frame mods with 13 pieces, thus the lucky #13!!! I used a white metal springer I had lying around, and whacked the tank in all directions. I made tons of bolt heads using everything from different sized straight pins, to small nails!! Besides the paint choices, I also added a little military to it too, and the one neat little scratch built item was the shift knob grenade in 1/12 scale!!! Feast your eyes & criticize!!! This was a big help with making the shift knob, and a 1/12 scale ruler!!!

That needs to be photographed next to Virgils Frankie!!! Two great builds from Jauris's art. Very nice build Curt.

Besides Harley's, I really love deuces too!!! This is going to be wicked man!!!
-
WOW!!! Very nice Craig!!! You have some awesome builds in your photo album too!!!
-
That is kick butt!!! Looks real in the pics. Are those front wheels resin?
-
I remember seeing those in the magazines back when I was a kid too!!! Always thought they were kinda weird, but what a great build subject!!! Awesome job Tim, and thanks for the memories!!!

Man, you should be ashamed of yourself for showing such a bunch of bombs like those.....lol. Seriously though, how can a guy do that many high detail cars in one year? Do you ever sleep? Wow!!! They are all great!!!

Well, here's a peek at the finished carb I built, along with the stack w/screen. Kinda gives it a little more vintage look. I also put a slight bend in some aluminum tubing, then split it, shaped it, and made a heat shield for the exhaust. Still sweatin' the small stuff!!! (Oh and doing "honey-do's"...lol.)

Nuttin better than a good o'le Willys!!! Looks great from where I'm sittin'!!!
-
Ted's kustoms always amaze me!!!
-
Getting back on track with this one!!! Here are a couple shots for an update.....I finally came up with an exhaust system, made the seat springs & mount, built a new oil tank, and I'm almost finished building a carb w/vintage scoop. Just about ready to get everything dechromed & painted ready for final detailing and assembly!!! Be patient, you'll see it soon Under Glass!!!

Now there's a lot of nice work!!! Looks more like a luxury tourer than a pro touring, but whatever you call it, I call it awesome!!!

Paul, I used the grille & shell from the '37 Ford pick-up with a 1/8" section cut out of the center. A few other things done were channeling the body slightly, cutting the interior down, lowering the seat, scratch building the rear pan w/notch for the quick change, widening the frame rails to fit the body, and building blisters under the hood sides. The front suspension was built using an R&D Unique white metal axle (made to steer). All for shocks were made from aluminum tubing & straight pins. I made all the bolt heads using straight pins ground flat, with hexagon shapes, then turned in a dremel using a a sanding stick. I also made the hairpins from aluminum rod & tubing. The engine was a build in itself.....I used several aftermarket aluminum pieces, air cleaners, pulleys, and oil filter. The four radiator hoses were a complete weekend project alone!!! The carbs have fuel lines, and throttle linkage, and a throttle cable that goes to the foot pedal. This was a project that took complete determination ( I wanted to box it up many times!!) but, the end results were well worth the effort (many awards, plus 3 Best of Shows) Back then there was a lot of competition, but nowadays I see so many great masterful builders on here, and in the magazines, which is the greatest (they say this hobby is dying!!) I'm glad I'm not so competitive these days....lol

Questions About The Revell 30 Ford Woody
RatRod replied to Gray Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I actually just seen this kit online the other day, and was surprised to see all the cool new changes. I really like the wheels, but don't care for the tires they made 'em for, but they will look good with some nice rubber big n littles!! I also like the new deuce grill, and dropped headlight bar. The highlight of this kit is the 6 deuce carbs & manifold..."almost" worth the price of the kit!!
