  1. Dang, that looks like a blast. Slot cars go too fast and look like insects more than cars ... but dragsters seem like they replicate the real thing. Without the wheelie bars, I bet, makes it interesting piloting them. You use 'chutes? Maybe someday empty shopping malls will make pretty cool miniature salt flats ... The 55 looks great, as does the scrambler.
  2. You might be better off cutting the door out, sharpening the edges with the filler of your choice and reassembling. No filler is going to hold a scribed edge unless it's a super hard something or other ... and then you'll have to scribe again, but now in some super hard material. My opinion anyway ...
  3. You're gonna have to use some really thin weatherstripping ...
  4. Lookin' sharp Harry. That yellow is just right.
  5. Yeah, but you Pocher guys $care me. If the offer's still good, I am interested in the Webered Jag ...
  6. Man, Harry you're fast. You use interns or something?
  7. I saw the TDR for $100 bucks on the bay as well as a parts jag for $45. Another couple hundred for a Pocher and ... I'm on a budget, but these kids are adding MORE fuel to my fire: http://www.cardesignnews.com/site/designers/portfolios/display/store5/item180961/ Breathe in ... breathe out ...
  8. Sweet. Maybe Cato's hemi idea isn't far off. Thanks Christian.
  9. A V8 in a RR is a bit on the vulgar side I think, for a novice such as I anyways But a opened up Jag would be nice, maybe with a drilled and lightened up frame (like I coulda done with the above). I'd have to do some research on hot rodding the Jag motor. Remember that hot rod jag in the original "Vanishing Point" movie challenging that "blue-printed" white Challenger? I wonder what he had in that thing ... The body work would be a question though ... I'm biting aren't I? You sir are good. Very good.
  10. You could always forego the whole drawer thingy and use a simple roof rack for that nifty (and available) RPG ... ?
  11. You stopped me at "After all, they did." Bastardizing an Excalibur is one thing, me fooling around with an RR is blasphemy ... although a supercharger would fit in front of that radiator ... I think ... maybe ...
  12. Thanks again Skip. I do remember your links and will try your suggestion of the Monogram kit to get the "feel" of RRs. But I'm partial to the Springfield Phantom I since it was truly a product of Springfield with upgraded designs that Derby would later use. I have the Phantom II chassis diagrams you got me but I'm fantasizing about this: http://archives.rroc.org/zenphoto/index.php?album=Rolls%20Royce/Springfield%20Phantom%20I/SPRINGFIELD%20PHANTOM%20I%20MISC&image=SpP1+Chassis+Lubrication+Chart+lhd-version+MONO+R-R1926+Rossfeldt-Archvies+1000_300dpi.jpg i can't see myself doing that right in this lifetime, so maybe a nice phantom II roadster in 1/8 scale with steerage on the proper side (and that ain't the right) will be reachable ... I wonder if they allow spray booths in nursing homes ...
  13. Rather than that beautiful slide out drawer, how about attaching the guns to the back of the tailgate as a drop down? They'd have to be secured in the drawer anyway, and it'd be similar in size. You could still use the drawer you made with slight mods to one side.
  14. You guys workin as a tag team or something? After googling (past meaning) Cato's RR, my fantasy for building a Springfield got rekindled and even bought a 1/24 (ugh) scale Henley per Skip's suggestion. But the Springfield builds were Pantom Is, and then I found Model Motorcar's Phantom I build of "The Duchess" http://www.modelmotorcars.com/the-duchess.html while lounging watching TV. Well, my hands started sweating so much I lost a grip on my iPad and the thing fell on my chest with the corner hitting my heart. I do miss 1/8 scale but I think I'll hit the 32 Ford roadster before a Pocher anything ...
  15. That's just right. The stance. The tires and wheels ... Great! Put a seat in, engine, and maybe some steerage, and you're done. Even the unpainted body looks great ... and I don't like white cars. One question: My knowledge of suspensions is pedestrian ... why did you use a panhard with leaf springs and not a traction bar? Edit: I just reread your words "road race" and got the clue.
  16. Thanks Bob and Ray for the input. I've been thinking of this build for months and never invisioned using the kit wheels until I saw them on the chassis. The pic of the Stutz on page 1 was found just before I started and between that and your support I decided to go that way. I think I could do this kit in several other ways ... say in all aluminum color with a dark red leather interior ... and use those louvers ... or maybe a different rearend with the original SSK-use of the spare ... or use the wheels (and fenders) from a Bentley kit ... or
  17. Wow. That wiring looks stunning. I always think different tones and textures of a similar color (especially black) add so much more of a detailed look ... especially if there's a mile of wire in an inch of space
  18. ... although I would have to avoid gravel roads
  19. Cycle fenders are for skinny tires ... Seriously, fenders make the thing look like a Jeepster to me ... or worse, an Excalibur ...
  20. Here's the pic from the shakedown ride my wife and I took. We went a little further south than planned and stopped at what I thought was a fancy cruise night. Everything was fine until some guy with a straw hat and a clipboard came by and told me this was the show area and I'd have to have a entry ticket. I said I thought I'd be safe parking next to that Karmann Ghia and asked how much was the raffle tickets. He said "Just leave now sir" without saying what the door prize was ...
  21. Thanks Scott. How's that workshop going and that Italian V-12? Thank you Rob.
  22. Thank you Bruce. I was hoping you could see them this time.
