  1. right? i wanted to work on those "minor details" with this "in-betweener" model ... I ended up finding one of the major race cars in American history that I didn't know anything about and those details became all the more important ... i wanted to develop my exhaust making (thanks again BaddGass), paint, decals, BMF (new to me), etc. ... and this turned out to be the perfect platform ... I just thought it woulda taken months less time ...
  2. thanks gass im devouting the exhaust to you ... your chassis work was most inspiring ... I'm about 3-4 hrs from finishing this up
  3. thanks Scott ... this (like your Bugatti) started as more excercise than display. I wanted to sharpen my detailing skills more than anything but got caught up in the historic significance of this car and ended up doing just about everything over twice or more to get things right or at least acceptable ... the induction hood took at least a dozen sessions and when "done" I found it too high and I'm not happy with it being so off the original ... but ... that design is so weird that I can live with it (although burnout is now a factor) ... the aero-engineering just didn't make sense in comparison with the car's design anyways, thanks ... I gotta complete this project before planting season ...
  4. Outstanding work Bo. That engine compartment is first rate! Cato, thanks for the link to Mr. Cox's site. I'm now one of his biggest fans ... he does to Pochers what I've dreamt of doing myself ... like an Allison in a RR ... someday until then, I have folks like Bo to help show the way ...
  5. Thanks for the idea Case. I'll look into that ...
  6. lol ... I'm not going to argue for stupidity officer ... I deserve the harsh reprimand ... my point was that "modern" cars are overlooked for what they are and we take them for granted for what great machines they are. "Design" from the earlier eras was glitz that may get us nostalgic, but really was just superficial style ... but note: I did take a performance driving course, chauffeured VIPs, transported special vehicles for Lincoln in the NE region, haven't been ticketed since 1985, and most importantly, got a scratch from someone else in a parking garage as the only accident in decades of driving ... I may be stupid (and cool) but I'm not totally crazy. And I certainly wouldn't drive a 57 Belair like I would a new Chevrolet SS ...
  7. Y'all living in ole nostalgialand ... I drove cross-country a few years ago with my wife and daughter in a ford svt contour, with luggage appropriate in weight for a wife and teenage daughter . Somewhere in Montana I set the cruise control (the little stick on the other side of the directional stick that you old farts leave on) to 105 and held the wheel with dry hands while in full conversation with the family who didn't realize I was going that much faster than the 80 mph limit ... I couldnt do that with my pop's 1968 galaxie 428 cop car without leaving the road surface ... nowadays, my wife drives an Infiniti with over 100 hp more than that svt and gets better gas mileage ... and looks a thousand times better than those "classic" cars ... from the inside
  8. ... this is like watching a great movie. I can't wait for what's next but I want it to last a long time. Thanks for the show BG ... beautiful build ...
  9. I'm going for Rally Red ... it's red but photographs orange. That's two squirts of base coat ... and I don't hold your complements against you as long as you know I'm not leading you on
  10. Thanks Tony. Having a go at the exhaust plumbing ...
  11. Cato, your excellent design, methods, and execution are obviously apparent, but your mantra of "Get it right" is making me a better modeler ... bravo sir, and thank you.
  12. I just bookmarked your site Michael ... Wow.
  13. I can see the beginning of an all-pro career in this sport ... your strategy of preparing yourself for the 'big guys' has to payoff ... bravo Scott!
  14. Nice bodywork Jim. What did you scribe the lines with?
  15. It might be a little more "interesting" if there were more wear on the back seats than the front ... if ya know what I mean
  16. thanks ... what's happenin' with yours? the 1/8 and that wild 1/12?
  17. Next up, the famous cold-air cowl induction hood ...
  18. I nixed the fire extinguisher, completely redid the carb intake, and finally got the car back from the body shop ...
  19. Thanks Stephen, but the detailing hasn't really started ... I hope you're not confusing my reference pics
  20. Great project Scott ... I now clearly understand your idea of using this as a warm-up to your Pocher projects. Are they next, or do have another "warm-up" before you pull the trigger? Im not anticipating that as much as I can't wait to see your work on this nice little Bugatti ...
  21. hey BG, when you download directly from your computer, I think the file is embedded on the server of the forum you're on, so there are limits to how much space you take. If you used a third party like photobucket, the pics you place here from there are actually just links to the images already uploaded on that third party server. Another benefit of those photo sites is they're off your drive so you can archive your pics there. Make sense? by the way, im not a salesman for photo archive sites ... I just wanna see more of your vettes!
  22. oh no! I was hopin for more! are you using photobucket or something? That's free ... at the moment anyway
