  1. I just ditched a batch I have had and used for close to 10 years now, and it still worked like it did when I first poured it. I keep it in a covered Tupperware dish. I replaced that batch with some from a bottle I have had for at least 4 or 5 years and had been opened at some point. stuck a body in it and in 12 hours all paint was loose and ready to brush off. in other words, if it has a life expectancy, its probably at least equal to that of the pet dog as long as he doesn't drink the stuff jb
  2. nice going! things should shape up pretty well in the engine compartment. jb
  3. what I am actually thinking is way out though, reversing the flow of the engine and making a big ole basket of snakes exhaust system out the top and banks of weber carbs on the side. maybe a turbo or two. jb
  4. so no induction system? any suggestions other than scratchbuilding? I take it that rectangle on the sides is the exhaust header? sorry, not that up on airplane engine looks...took me a lot of years just to make some sense of the AMT Allison engine intake and exhaust! looks very detailed to me, very nice. I would be in for at least one depending on price. on price I would say up to maybe 30$? equivalent to maybe a ross Gibson kit? really for me price doesn't make that much difference; if I want it I get it. jb
  5. yeah that's kool and all and I will probably get at least one for the frame and nailhead if nothing else... oops wrong thread jb
  6. quote from the article: >Like the Beatnik Bandit and Mysterion it featured a bubbletop blown at Acry Plastics that's kind of strange because in the Thacker book with Ed Roth, he talks about how those bubble tops were formed over bucks at the local pizza oven place. maybe I am confused, but I am pretty sure that's what he (Roth) said. edit to add: after reading the whole thing, it kinda sounds like maybe Brian Williams had a hand in writing it. jb
  7. never was one of Eds better creations, looks as crappy restored as the original did jb
  8. fashion some stub axles out of plastic rod and fill that hole in the oil pan/engine block jb
  9. I would like to see some photos too, both of the parts and of a buildup. I would probably throw down for one for an eventual build jb
  10. sometimes, you just can't go back home. jb
  11. then build it erik! another gotta have, I like this even better than the van. jb
  12. that guy has about 1500 items currently on ebay and I could not find any tow hooks. maybe his auctions ended already for those. I was thinking the scale production ones do look best so I think I will keep looking for those thanks everyone and if anything comes up please post it. jb
  13. yep already got it in my private warehouse (great idea!) so thanks for the lead. I was just looking around for others too, for variety if nothing else. thanks for the tip on ebay, will go check on that too. jb
  14. anyone got photos of this latest issue of this kit? I am particularly interested in it just over the wheels and maybe some engine stuff. never had any issue of this kit so anything would help. jb
  15. I did not even take into consideration that this was a real car (duh its right there on the same panel!), I was getting confused with all the "what a bunch of dumb kits" posts elsewhere, and thought that was some kind of showrod fantasy or something. that is a pretty darn wild looking exhaust system there and now I see exactly what you mean about cooking marshmellows because that header would be pretty much right in your face! jb
  16. I am not arguing and I am not out to "win" anything. I am merely stating the obvious. you know, I owned a VW "The Thing" for a very long time and people used to come up to me all the time and say something like "oh yeah that is just like one of those German army jeeps (Kubelwagen)." most of the time I would just kind of smile and gaze off into the distance wistfully. because no, they are pretty much not at all like one of those "German jeeps", in any but the vaguest ways. like yeah they have four wheels, two per side. jb
  17. >Anyway, after you click "like" you could still leave a comment or just "like". like, don't we kinda already have that "feature" here? ok I will be going now... jb
  18. Morris Cowley roadster? sheesh why don't they just cut the carp and release a "straight" version of that! anyone actually seen the body? is it anywhere close to realsville? of course, I did just notice it is 1/32 scale. still, make a great slot car. jb
  19. me three jb
  20. yeah then we could "like" something! why again? jb
  21. if you want a green hornet base you should msg the guy on ebay, its where I bought mine and I have requested certain bases from him and if he had them he made one up and either sold it to me or put it on ebay buy it now and gave me a heads up. jb
  22. all the ones I got, and I got a few, were printed on heavy stock, prefolded, preglued and ready to display. and yes that typo was on the original. and while the "wheels" were not rubber, the tires in the originals were. (edit to add: well from memory they were...not sure why they would switch to plastic ones on reissues but I have a couple built up originals and they have rubber tires on them) do not know if this latest batch is from the same guy I bought them from but they were, when I bought them anyhow, made of quality thick coated stock. (another edit to add: yes this "3names" guy is the same I bought from a number of years ago.) jb
  23. well its backordered at HLJ and that other site wants outrageous postage...any more leads please? thanks again jb
  24. don't forget, both have four wheels, two per side! and you are comparing them to the supposed Pontiac prototypes not a real corvair. there is a slight resemblance, that is true. jb
  25. I think what that's supposed to mean is that both headers, taken together, form 180 degrees (one semi-circle) which they appear to do, above the engine and then cut backward to the rear of the engine. so looking at the engine from the front the headers would appear to form half a circle. jb
