  1. it seems to me that someone was doing them but I cannot recall who exactly. oh yeah how about TDR/Shapeways? http://www.shapeways.com/model/391940/1-8-scale-426-hemi-block.html that's for a block but look around and you might find heads. edit to add: might be too new style for you: http://www.shapeways.com/model/305459/392-hemi-covers-parts-kit.html?li=search-results-1&materialId=6 I swear there is someone else probably see him at NNL West coming up in a couple weeks. pm me if you want to follow up on it for you jb
  2. did Ferrari actually give them a license to do that? jb
  3. GREAT! can't wait! jb
  4. yep mine came the other day, perfect condition jb
  5. aoshima is who you mean, in 1/24 scale. excellent kits no motor detail but everything else is pretty good. I don't recall if they have rubber bumper versions (edit: oh I see it in the photos above) but I have a number of their chrome bumper kits in various versions. I have more than I need matter of fact so... GT conversion resin body: jb
  6. aren't an awful lot of those kits exactly the same except for the decal sheet? its hard to turn your nose up at free kits but I have seen it done with NASCAR stuff. jb
  7. got a source? jb
  8. looks close. put some on some plastic, better if a painted surface, with a q tip or something and wait a half hour. if its hard and clear and self leveled, its probably the same stuff. see if it says "acrylic" somewhere on the label, that's what you're looking for. I use bleche white for cleaning resin bodies, never had an issue afterwards with bad paint I didn't instigate myself. I soak the body in it for 24 hours or so then fish it out, rinse it off in running water, then dump it in a bucket of fresh water for awhile. jb
  9. I bought a 84 US spec Rabbit GTI new back in 85. it was a nice little car, pretty quick and at the time front wheel drive was the thing (I never loved it), it went around corners smooth and flat (though I installed Konis all around and had it lowered a couple inches). it pretty much looked like this except I had the optional front grille with the square driving lamps integrated. Most of it was manufactured in Mexico I think and then assembled in Canada. That's what I recall anyhow. darn thing didn't last very long, by 50k (miles) it was losing its CVs, water pump, getting weak on the compression and generally falling apart, so I sold it to some college student who probably drove it into the ground. I wish a closer version to this was available, note alloy wheels especially. jb
  10. awesome! I am looking forward to seeing this in person at NNL West! jb
  11. why would a harmonic balancer be mounted on the front of an electric water pump way back of the drive belts? doesn't make sense. I can certainly see an electric water pump mounted there I guess but haromonic balancer? strange ps: I kinda want that magazine! another one on the list! ps ps: turns out that magazine is pretty common, 10 including shipping from ebay. but the problem is it appears the car in question only appears on the cover, there is no article inside like I had hoped. oh well thank goodness for photos of tables of contents! jb
  12. pretty much 100%. what I start I finish unless there is some major big problem and even then it just gets set aside until I get up the courage to face it headon and get it finished. might be a few years though jb
  13. I fold them up and store them in a moving box sort of container. I keep the instrux and any notes I made while building it in the folded up box. One moving box holds fifty or so folded up boxes so its not like it gets out of hand very quickly. there have been times I have gone back and pulled out the box either to look at or to look inside at the instrux. plus if its low impact spacewise, I like to keep the original packing for stuff...I learned that the hard way a few times, with Dinky Toys for instance. everything is eventually valuable, and the more complete it is, the more valuable it is. I think that's the overlying lesson of the ebay experience. jb
  14. I am not saying its not an electric water pump...but why would it have what appears to be a pulley on the front? to the point of mounting down there, bottom of oil pan, that is pretty strange but maybe it could be hidden there on the real car. kinda doubt that shape though. one could say its exact function is rather uncertain. jb
  15. one problem: "could care less" means you could care less than you currently do, means you care more than you could. I believe you meant "Couldn't care less", and I voted based on that interpretation. jb
  16. gee Joe, maybe I should check with you before posting eh? still waiting for the photos, impress me with your unlimited skill man, since I am so obviously limited. the tape thing was just a suggestion, and one that's fairly easy to implement. and I have actually done it and posted pictures so I am anxious to see your results that I am sure will follow. jb
  17. I collect built models, built mostly by myself. does that help? jb
  18. great. remember, show us pictures or it didn't happen. then I will get envious. but not for long, trust me. jb
  19. >As long as the instructions clearly show what needs to be done. evidently they do not. jb
  20. how about a decal to put over the raised engraved emblem? shouldn't be a problem to make them exactly the same size, we put a man on the moon once, supposedly. jb
  21. yeah just try getting those around your sprockets, through the frame and deraulier and connected together! show us pics when you do! jb
  22. unfortunately the seller only ships to the 48 contiguous U states. jb
  23. anyone holding off on getting one of the fantastic Revell of Germany Trabant 601 Universals because of price, check out this buy it now offer including shipping. I bought a spare just because. looks like the seller has a boatload of them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301388188128?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT please to move to whatever appropriate forum is appropriate. jb
