  1. couldn't be a Europa, might be a Dino, but still looks like an elite to me one of the most beautiful cars ever made. could that photo be from a museum of kit cars or maybe fiberglass cars? jb
  2. you know, I never really liked letting the facts get in the way of a good story if you see my point. jb
  3. just to make this thread more confusing, isn't that a real live Lotus Elite parked next to the Coyote? Or the Manta? Or the Mirage? Or the Montage? Sure looks like it to me but I am easily confused, obviously jb
  4. that is a shame about that hood. only thing I could suggest is to cut those louvers out altogether and replace with a box of louvers made from strip plastic. I would be pissed especially with that being the main piece in the kit. jb
  5. I always much preferred car versions that reflected their home market, not as imported into the USA. Most were either watered down or geegawed up for the American market and I have always appreciated more what was available in whatever country of origin the car was. jb
  6. OK I will be getting my coat! jb
  7. so was the Cube or the Scion similar vehicle the true pioneer in this style? which came first in the home market? jb
  8. I got to agree with that. I think the secret might be: don't order anything that is not in stock or expected to be in stock shortly, and I guess the only way to guarantee that is to contact him personally first. he did just send me a thank you email and I responded back and he got right back to me but we all know how that can be sometimes. right now I am considering a further order of the HRM Cheetah kit...hmmmm jb
  9. yeah I have to agree about the Charger. meh. but I noted in Bill's post that he gave the Nissan Cube a sideways compliment when he said something about how he couldn't imagine that design getting past a boardroom decision process. I take that to mean that it was too wild for some milquetoast design committee made up of bean counters and economy experts. I bring that up for a couple of reasons: I really like that design for what it is, a vehicle that would otherwise be another anonymous people mover. I especially dig the touches like the asymmetrical rear window, the front egg crate grille and the rear light surround with the puckered up look of the little coffin kinda sorta. But the second reason is that I think the Scion van (not sure of the name they used, might have been some combination of letters and numbers) had already pioneered the way with that very same look (a little cleaner to my eye than the Cube), kind of a breadvan look, and had sold very well I think based on the number of them I saw on the street. This of course is not in Japan where their true market might be but in California where some trends are still made. I still think both these vehicles look really great lowered down with wide tires and nice rims, especially in some of the offbeat colors I have seen them in, like khaki. so I was wondering if that was really what you meant, Bill, or if you meant you didn't see how that design got put out on the road at all? jb
  10. I would think 40 or 45 $ list, then commonly down to 25 or so. I believe that's the way the other Ebbro kits have been going. I would be willing to pay 50$ or maybe more especially if it had some useful photoetch and a really nice engine. jb
  11. that's what I was going to say: I think your problem might be the spray painting of the interior. I usually spray the whole thing the predominant color I am going to want it to be and then do the floor mats with flocking by brushing on either paint, or more usually, thinned down white glue, and then adding the flocking. it might still get a bit on the side panels due to my sloppy brushing "technique" but not much and that can be removed with a q tip pretty easy. I would agree though its a lot easier without the side panels molded on. jb
  12. that's a very nice build. I did one of these many years ago and was real impressed with the fit and the level of detail. you really did it right! I fitted a pilot figure as it was going to be on a race course diorama and let me tell you that was some squeezing to get him in there! I started with the kit that was already the race car. I don't recall exactly and of course your wheels and tires are way bigger, but I think it came with some wide tires and wheels...or maybe I used some from another kit, maybe the Tamiya mini cooper (bmc not bmw) or perhaps a gunze abarth 850. your engine compartment really looks great with the detailing! jb
  13. yep Paul, in fact do a search of the on the workbench or under glass sections for "broadspeed" and you will see a build and finished thread thanks too! jb
  14. i just got mine from Strada and it looks very nice indeed. later this evening i might take some photos and post them under the kit review section, there is the body but there is a whole lot more included, and from a quick look it looks pretty darn nice jb
  15. I just received my 914/6 transkit from Strada, i don't recall exactly when i ordered it but seems to me it was about 2 weeks ago, and at that stage it was a "preorder" according to their website. especially considering it was the Christmas holiday, i think that is well within tolerances. i would buy from them again and i would certainly recommend them based on my experience. just thought i would chime in with a followup on my earlier post. jb
  16. now THAT is kool! that kaddy kustom aint bad either. as for best source, there is a guy on ebay who sells ebbro kits very cheaply, I paid around 20 postpaid for the 2cv wagon and about the same for the Renault wagon. he seems to have lots of them too. jb
  17. >jbwelda, on 25 Dec 2014 - 5:15 PM, said: >And YOU are perfect? You and Bill are twins. wow is the fog really that thick in here? here let me splain it to youse: see wee/they waz talking about mediocrity and perfection and all that stuff. kinda like yang and ying. I saw that once on Bevis. then the guy all abouts the perfection posted a graphik tht had a misssspelllling in its. so then I's said: hey look theres a typo maybe theys not so smarts afterall! well Ise guesses I dindnt actually SAY that and maybe that's where the problem could bes. see its this thing called "irony" or mbe something else too that I read in a comic or maybe the sports pages one time. go team! how bout dem bears? hopefully that makes my point clear. by the way Mobieus makes some good stuff. this will be my last statement on the matter. please refer all questions to my secretary, I am going out to get a drink. jb
  18. that looks pretty incredible. bychance is that the printer in your avatar for this board? jb
  19. man that about makes my year. I would like a DS21 with turning headlamps next. but just the 19 is beyond my dreams. total car of the future 50 years ahead of its time in so many ways, including styling. jb
  20. yes I was going to say Tamiya masking tape too, its thin enough and has a decent texture to it. I typically really lazy out and just "paint" it with a black sharpie and call it good. jb
  21. Well, that was pretty predictable! jb
  22. detail on both motors is pretty weak and yeah the webers are kind of skinny and anemic. still, they are a start and if you add an aftermarket turbo or something they really start to look kool jb
  23. Please don't feed the Trolls. ---thank you, Mgmt jb
  24. those are spectacular! your photography combined with them look real! super bunch of cars, and all from this year. jb
  25. >And now the grammar police chime in. (Is "ya" a word?) you seem quite skilled at missing the point. Merry Christmas jb
