  1. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
  2. This one is not impossibly old, but is somewhat obscure and I'm sure quite a few of you never knew it existed. Behold the Aoshima '99 FD3S RX-7 in C-WEST trim. Nothing too special so far, but this one is the Left Hand Drive issue. You don't see these too often.
  3. Yes it is "Learning to fly", Pink Floyd
  4. Into the distance, a ribbon of black Stretched to the point of no turning back A flight of fancy on a windswept field Standing alone my senses reeled Fatal attraction is holding me fast, How can I escape this irresistible grasp? Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I
  5. Thanks, and yes - that is one approach to remember. I'm not certain I could pull it off in 1/72 scale though. But that would be neat.
  6. Oh my! Now that you mention it, it seems so to me too.
  7. I do. Funny thing is - it was bought over the counter at a (severely disorganized) local hobby shop about three years ago. The box is pretty much gone, but the content is all there. It will take quite a bit of dedication to make anything out of it though.
  8. Now this is interesting.. Anybody know if this kit is right-hand-drive dash only, or if it includes a left-hand-drive option?
  9. Here we are; I think I'm going to call it finished now. I'll skip the wash, as it would only accentuate the rough spots still shoving. It actually still has sanding scratches and stuff that wasn't dealt with before painting. One could always argue that it is not prototypically correct for this craft to be shiny as if it was made out of painted metal, but I'm not going to worry about that for an airplane build. Trivialities like that is for my car models. Anyhow I seem to like my planes in gloss paint..
  10. One from the left field.. I guess it takes a special kind of mind to know this one. I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda S - O - D - A, soda I saw the little runt sitting there on a log I asked him his name and in a raspy voice he said, .... I genuinely like it though.
  11. Yes it is!
  12. Bruce Springsteen - I'm on fire
  13. I'll shoot it to you straight and look you in the eye So give me just a minute and I'll tell you why I love this one. - and it has one of the coolest videos too.
  14. The Clash; White man (in the Hammersmith palais)
  15. Almost there! The second color for the fuselage is finally on. The same is the case with landing gear. So the only thing left is to cut out a disc from a sheet of clear plastic for a spinning propeller, and apply the decals. Right, I am going to the hassle of fabricating parts for this build. You know, if it is going to hang from my ceiling and look like it is flying, it will not look right with a dead stick across it's nose Hopefully I will soon be able to show you a finished model.
  16. I'm surprised too, but I'm seriously uncertain where the tools are. Revell AG has issued ESCI's rally Escort mk.II and the BMW M1 (somewhat rough but the only one around). Italeri has issued ESCI's rally Fiat 131, Land Rover, Range Rover, M-B 230G, Renault 5 (non-turbo) and the Lancia Stratos. So between the two of them hopefully it is all there. Honestly though - those old ESCIs often leave a bit to be desired when it comes to buildability. The Stratos in particular is way off in every way possible.
  17. My holy grail kit is so rare I have not been able to even find an image of it on the web, but it is an early version of Aoshima's Datsun 720 pickup. I bought me one at age 12-13 and although the kit itself was rather more of a toy than a model, the box art was to kill for! The box top showed artwork depicting a green (light emerald or thereabouts) w/black hood truck down to it's wheel hubs in mud from about 2/3 front view, and a taught winch wire coming in from up the trail. It had a roll bar hoop in the bed w/four round auxiliary lights and a heavy off-road bumper up front w/two more lights on it. The driver as seen through the windscreen wore a helmet, racing suit and a four point harness. The kit itself was motorized, and there was an option of 2WD w/steering front wheels or 4WD straight ahead only. Both build versions sported a functional winch powered by the rearwheels motor. I realize Aoshima still use the Datsun body, but have done away with the battery operated chassis, and have tooled up a deeper interior and a more street-friendly chassis. I seem to remember this offering to be part of a series of six trucks. Datsun 720s and Toyota HiLux. Three of each. Most were set up w/Desert Dog tires (later offered separately by Am. Satco), but "my" Datsun and presumably one HiLux sported Padlatrak paddle tires. I have not much hope of ever finding another one of these. I suspect they were too cool for their own good, and were sold and built and played with like they should. I did however find a later issue of the same, but in a really dorky street custom guise. Nowhere near the level of cool of my grail. If anyone have a lead, or a picture or anything please speak up.
  18. Say, where did you source those wheels and tires from?
  19. Quirky, yes! - but really and more realistically I'd rather have a NSU Prinz /1000. Road car and race car.
  20. My Hasegawa was a joy to build. I didn't spend a lot of time detailing the underside, but I post a picture so you can get an idea what it is like.
  21. No mention of those two ICM kits that are just around the corner? One touring, and one roadster. Yeah, yeah, I know they're not out yet but still..
  22. Too easy I guess. Tennessee Ernie Ford apparently didn't write it, or record it first, although he did have a major hit with it.
  23. ... what do you get Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store
  24. This is a 1/24 Zundapp by Tasca. All plastic, even the spokes.. This is not my build though, but I picked up one a few months ago. It has more parts and detail than you ever really wanted. It is kind of similar to the ICM Admirals in execution.
  25. Anybody, no?
