  1. Drums keep pounding A rhythm to the brain La de da de de, la de da de da
  2. I don't seem able to edit quotes. If a post has a long body of text, and some pictures and so on, and I only want to comment on a small part of it - Then I used to be able to remove unwanted sections of the quoted post. Is there a way to do this that I don't know about. The "Name that tune" tread in the community forum is a good example of how things can easily get messy and out of hand. Thanks

I was wondering if anybody would step up to Lady Gaga. I have two pre-teen daughters, what is your excuse? And I think for the future I'll have to stay off the "quote" button. It doesn't do the forum any favors..

  5. I guess there is a valid reason for concern about the origin of this "new" kit. Now, the way I see it is that Revell moves in mysterious ways, and it does well to remember that they did have an old drag Willys - and then they tooled up a brand new one. They had an old VW Beetle - and then they tooled up a brand new one. And I also think Revell knows that their existing F-100 tool doesn't really do their reputation any favors, and that they could really use a successor to that tool. Does anybody remember the Stacy David Rat Roaster? While it was not a 100% representation of the real one, it was still close enough to keep most customers happy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it shared a lot of parts with the other deuce kits. All the bodywork was new, engine and wheels were new, interior new. I believe the the front suspension (at least the axle) was new. I think only the rear suspension and possibly the frame (albeit slightly revised) carried over from the other kits. So. - If Revell has seen strong enough sales of the Rat Roaster, I could see them doing a fairly faithful kit of the Foose F-100. They might take small liberties with the underpinnings in order to facilitate future spin-offs, but that doesn't really bother me all that much. As long as it builds well, looks good and sits right. Thats all I care for.
  6. Dire Straits - Walk of Life
  7. Hold on Tight, by ELO You got it right! A hundred tanks along the square, One man stands and stops them there Some day soon, the tide will turn, and I'll be free is the last one Simon &Garfunkle Scarborough fair Sorry, it is not. This band is American, but it is not quite as old as the other two.
  8. She never takes a chance She doesn't need romance Her love is When you're so downhearted and misunderstood Just over & over & over you could A hundred tanks along the square, One man stands and stops them there Some day soon, the tide will turn, and I'll be free
  9. There it is! You are right!
  10. That's one point for each of you I guess, then.
  11. Offspring, Get a Job. Been a while since I heard it, but I have it my mind that that song is pretty much a ripoff of--or let's say "inspired by"--a Beatles tune. Know what I'm talkin' about? Yes, you are right - Offspring, Why don't you get a job. As far as I'm concerned there's a lot of "inspiration" going around in the music industry..
  12. If there's one thing that makes me sick It's when someone tries to hide behind politics I wish that time could go by fast Somehow they manage to make it last So lock up your daughter Lock up your wife Lock up your back door And run for your life My friend's got a girlfriend Man he hates that bitch He tells me every day
  13. Right on both accounts! Straight Up by Paula Abdul You are right too. That didn't take long.
  14. Heller Citroen B14 Torpedo (sorry, no boxtop pics).
  15. Life is old there, older than the trees, Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze Do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh Or am I caught in a hit and run Even rode my motorcycle in the rain And you told me not to drive But I made it home alive So you said that only proves that I'm insane
  16. I'm quite happy with this. I voted for the truck, and although I won't get my Hemisfear kit the Caddy is a subject I will not bemoan. To me it looks far better than some of the others on the list. And the good news about the F100 is that the body of that one is so massaged and manipulated that they couldn't possibly pass off the old one as a "faithful representation". At the very least it would take all new bodywork (cab, hood, fenders etc.). Although the greasy bits would not be quite prototypically correct it would be good enough for me. As long as the truck sits right, and looks right from a yard away.
  17. Then there is this one.. Exiting 4wd Track.. ..Datsun Track.. Then again, I don't really want to be too hard on these people - english as a second language and everything, back in the eighties to boot. That said, although I don't have a picture of it (you have to believe me on this), the recent Revell offering of this same truck, the Datsun off road pickup has a honest typo on the side panel of the box. There the truck is called a "Datstun". Can somebody please verify?
  18. Wild, yes. Whenever I see crowd control (or lack thereof) like this, I always start pondering what this sport would look like in the U.S. Although there are a series of rallies like this organized in America, it hasn't caught the attention of the masses. And THAT is probably a good thing. It would be a lawyer's dream come true.
  19. You are quite right.. I would also have accepted Slade, who did it originally.
  20. So you think my singing's out of time, well it makes me money And I don't know why And I don't know why Anymore
  21. Because it has Swedish plates, and in Sweden it is cold and rains a lot. So why have a convertible if it is cold and rains a lot..
  22. I was given that Stratos for Christmas when I was 13 or thereabouts. It is a Nitto kit not Otaki. It has opening everything (hood, headlights, doors and rear engine cover) and articulated suspension. I believe that there is also a separate lid for the small "trunk" out back, but it doesn't open. One notable difference from the Otaki kits is that it does not appear to have been designed to be motorized. The engine is reasonably well shaped and proportioned (although inaccuracies do exist, especially in the plumbing supplied) and the U-joints in the drivetrain are represented as rubber accordion boots molded in soft plastic. Did I mention soft plastic? There is a whole tree of it, containing the two seats, seatbelts, boots for the halfshafts, mudflaps and I believe also a washer fluid bag. There is metal springs for the working suspension and vinyl tubing for water hoses and so on. It is a good kit overall and although I managed to get it together, I do remember some ill-fitting assemblies. The six-piece air cleaner box (w/metal mesh for filter element) did not go together well nor did the clear amber and red taillight lenses fit well into the bezels but the issues were all fairly minor. This is what I can recall from building the Nitto kit. I have since bought me a Doyusha repop that is stored out of reach at the moment, but I remember when looking it over after the purchase I was struck by it feeling "cheaper" than the Nitto kit. The Nitto had real rubber tires, whereas the Doyusha had vinyl ones. Doyusha also used a stiffer plastic for the soft parts, and a harder, more brittle plastic for the kit itself. It seemed the goody bags still had all the treats in them though. It must have been a great kit for its time, and should still be worthwhile. I'd say it is right up there, pretty much on par with, but possibly a hair below the Tamiya 1/12 Porsches.
