  1. I saw your 57 ford it reminded me of the time I had just primered a 57 chevy. My paint booth is in the garage, so I was walking with my 1:25th scale body taped to the top of a spray can. My neighbor is a car guy he was walking his dog, saw the car and "Said got your self a 57 and its a Bel Air". At first I was amaz'd,from the street were he was I would have had trouble recognizing my own face. Then he said "Well that is a Iconic car". We talked cars for a while. He Reminded me that a 283 was the one to have way back then......Also somtimes a guy would drive a "Hot Rod" around painted primer and never would gloss....Hmmm Idea...I built my Brite Kandy Red Pro Street with a Big Block.... The Primered 57 with a Soupped up small block still rattles around in my mind....Some day old girl we hang your hopes on rusted out hinges and take 'em for a ride. Love your 57 ford were it is and were its going....Thanks for sharing.
  2. Thank you for the nice words....here are some better pics
  3. Great work your diaramas and the old ford from the 60s are very reaistic......I really like the El Camino, is it the AMT 59....If so, and you get a chance tell me more about this build. I have the AMT kit my plan is to built this car with a 409. I think that W Big Block came out in 58 but had a lower ci displacment, I have another 61 ss that I can use has a doner, for imblems and valve covers. The AMT 58 has some good looking headers Headman or Hooker....I also like to save basket case kits....I have a57 chasis from a Bel Air. I am thinkin' of using on the El Camino Build.....I might "Tub" it out or do a "Mini Tub".Love big fat tires, and the 57 frame looks more "Rigid"....For the bed I like the look of the cover you used....Any way I did not mean to write a book on your post...But you know how it is when a couple of "Old School Builders" start talking kits and cars...I really "Dig" your work. And thanks for your nice words about my work bench. The Gas Station on the left comes from a Revelle kit and just folds to create a Diarama. I think the box art read "High Way Scenes" and the car was a Nomad, I hate to admit this but the Garage is just a card board box I cut some holes in, painted primer gray...I just wanted a Back Drop for taking pictures of my cars.
  4. Hello builders: One of the guys on the site "Ray" gave me some good advice about my camara...so these pics should be better. I put the radiator and heater hoses on. I rubbed out the body with polish kit....I think some of the candy red coat I shot under the wet coats of orange is now showing up on lower part of body. I was going for a "Sun Burst Fade" darker on the lower part of the car lighter on the top...The guages on the insturment panel are a after market offering from the Model Car Garage...So I did not use the clear plastic cover that came with the AMT kit, I think you can see the guages better this way.
  5. Hello builders I hope these pictures show the split window a less blurry....Thank again to Ray for his advice about the Focus problem...I think it helped a lot.....Now that the pictures are clear you can see my car do have....Well kind of the "Rugged Look". I use Stains, inks and various craft paints to get the right amount of road grim.....My oldest brother was a street racer....He always said "Its not the really cherry cars you have to watch out for.....Look out for those....Sleepers".
  6. Hello builders sorry about blurry pics....I think I am still trying to make friends with my camara.....Ray Thank You for the advice about the Marco Feature, I will se if I can get things into focus.
  7. I built the Impalas interior painted the firewall.under side of hood, radiator and front fender well tops....The Body is a Metalic Orange and needs Rubbed out. The color is a on the car mix and in the lower level coats the are some "Candy Reds" Once I polish down to those I am hoping for a pertty cool paint job. I added some age to the seats using some "pastel powders" I had read about this in one of the "How To" books by Covert.....First time I've tryed it. The Picts. of the GTO a just a stance check I think once I get the interior built it should gap the rear wheels away from the body...I think I want that rear end up just a bit more. The "Vibe" I am going for on these 2 is "The Rugged Look" Decent but not "Cherry". Thanks for looking and the good words...And for being a patient with me. I am not that great with the computer.
  8. I wanted to add more pictures, do I have to start a new topic?
  9. Recently built.
  10. 2 muscle cars I have recently started. ]
  11. I like how your 57 is coming along. Such a "Classic". I was building the AMT 1:25th scale 57 I was pleased that it had some Photo Etched detail parts included. I think you matched the paint color really well.
  12. Really good looking Bird....I think the white and blue give the car a really "Rich" look.....Sammy Hagar did a song Trans Am High Way Wonderland.......I Bet'cha this is the car he was havin' in mind when he was belt'n that tune out. You built a nice car. I remember the 67 to 69s some of those had 400 ci with the Tri Power set up....I think the T/A had a smaller displacment cant remember the ci....Its late here....But that Motor was a higher reving/turned rpm quick and laid down power real nice. My older brother Gary had a 67 chevy impala ss 427 with 4 on the floor....for a Big Fire Breathing Impala it was really fast, he was a street racer and could speed shift really well, Still any Pontiac with a "Bulge" in the hood was well respected on the Blvd. If you get a chance please post the ci on that engine....One of my pals had a Camaro with a 307 It ran real nice but he had it "Souped Up". Since both cars are GM there might be some "Kinship".....Thanks for posting the Pics Brings back memories of good times on the Blvd.
  13. Hello builders: I am a new member. I really enjoy looking at all your post and pictures....My cars have the "Rugged Look". I would like to post some photos. I was Born back when cars had "Ostintatious Fenders"....So I am not good with the computer. I used my Wife's nice newer digital camera, it stores your images on a SD card. I build a simple diarama as a back drop for my cars. I took some snaps.....looked really good...My Wife is better with computers than me so she quickly had the images up on my old Lap Top. When we got to the point of sending them to this site a message came up that the file was too large. So we tryed selecting less pics. 4 instead of 7 still no go. My wife at this point said "I am sleeepy and going to bed". She told me that she would study the "Read Me Files" Over the weekend and try to figure it out. I stayed up and looked at the site and help files...Armed with this info. I now know enough to be dangerous. I call my lap top Mr.Computer Head....Now understand me and Mr.Computer Head are not Pals. None the less I gave one more try before "Hit'n the Hay" Hind site being 20/20 I now regret this. In short order I had the Images loaded on to a file the Wizard ask me to select a Web service to send my selections to the web there was only 1 choice MSN. I think it was. I selected it and and clicked on next...Got a message service not able to connect. My options were to try again or close.....I really should have closed...But I thought I was so close, must be missing somthing simple.....Tryed Again and Again" " " " I remember at one point tell'n Mr. Computer Head "Its On Now". I swear I heard a evil "HISSSS" come from the "Hard Drive". At this point I noticed I had a bunch of windows opened on the "Tool Bar". I started closing those and each time it would take me back to files of my "Car Picks" Now by this time its way past the time of nite when anything good happens. Each time Mr.Computer Head ask " Really Teddy Really Do You Want to Delete This File Really What Are You Think'n REALLY" And there were a bunch of 'em...All my attempts over and over "This Is Madness!" I at last reached the end of all the open windows and files on the tool bar....I got the last "REALLY TEDDY REALLY WHAT WERE YOU THINK'N". Now Ol' Mr.Computer Head is not equipped with a slot for the SD Card. This is about the time I noticed that USB Port in the back has the Cable plugged in and at the end of the Cable is OH NO the CAMERA OH NO and the CAMERA IS STILL ON OH NO and OH NO the SD CARD IS STILL IN......"Really Teddy Really What Was I Thinking"? Another EVIL HISS from Mr. Computer Head "SsssssON". So I have not only erased my recent car photos OH NO I have deleted a years worth of my Wifes pictures of our new Grand Son, My Son Ryan and his Wife, Vacation photos, Pictures of Kimmy's Mom and Dad, my Brother in Portland...Everything all gone.....No Mr. Computer Head and I are not Pals. So I am really in the "Dog House" with my Wife. I have been bannished to the old Digital Camera...uses a SD card but quality is not great. Still after all this I'd like to post some pics. suggestions pleas. The brite side to this is my wife was able to down load some Soft Ware and got the data on the SD card restored ,$20 bucks out of my model car budget a small price to pay....Looks like Mr. Computer Head Wins Again. Swell.
  14. Yuri I went back through to get another look at the Riv. I saw your post on how you created that "Breath Taking" paint job....Thanks for sharing the details.....I am still trying to master the "Rattle Can"....Your work Inspiers.
  15. You are a talented builder. I love eveything about this build. Is the color of the body Testors Metal flake "Pardon the spelling if I get this wrong" Sapphire Blue? If so, I know how difficult it is to shoot that color, and get a flawless paint job....Sir you did it....Nyiiiice !
  16. Hi Tom I saw your Post about the Wheels, I remember the early issue of the Revell 56 Nomad had some pretty good white walls. I think if you sanded the plating off the "Steelie" area with the center area masked....Sprayed 'em with some of your "Real Pretty Blue". You could turn those Chevy wheels into some convincing "Steelies" with a small hub cap.
  17. This makes me think of Surf Boards and the beach.....In my best California Surf Lingo I say "Tubular".....Translated that means Really Really Kool. That is a nice Paint Job.....You mentioned decals. Are you gonn'a put some on the back windows? I remember a Woody that had a Souped up 283 the guy had his "Speed Equipment" decals on the rear window...Gave it kind of a nostalgic look. I am sure what ever you do is going to look great.
  18. Fearless body work.....I like how the 64 top gets away from the fastback look....really a cool idea and again well done on the body work.....Like the weathering, adds to the realism.....Do you think this trick would work on a 67 impala.
  19. looks really cool, I have built GM and Ford cars.....Looking at your Mopar makes me want to build one. I like the Stance and the Steelies.....It is such a old school classy and classic look.....My older brother was a street racer....He said " Cars like this are the ones you really had to watch out for...a lot of those Mopars have Hemis". Somtimes he called 'em "Sleepers"...Guys would "Soup em up" give em a "Shave and a Hair Cut". Somtimes they would be Pmimered or Flat Black....Those Hemis needed to breath so if you saw a bulge in the hood......Hang on there could be a 426 under there.
  20. I love those Hot Rod muscle cars. I like the Graphics also. Are the Speed Stripes decals?
  21. I really like the woodgrain you have simulated....I have had some good results painting the wood with a light brown or tan flat enamal after the paint dries use crafters stain the one l like is the antique black just brush on then wipe off, stain stays in the grain areas......the look I wanted was a matt finnish so this worked OK.
