Picked this one up on eBay, was opened complete and at a fair price for a friend of mine. Took a chance on the body which is molded in Vermilion Red and left it unpainted, then added the kit decals. I used one of Clay Kemps tricks I saw on one of his YouTube videos, applied the “Petty Blue” decals, held the body up to a lamp with an older incandescent light bulb to soften the decals, then applied generous coats of “Mark Fit Strong” setting solvent. With a LOT of patience and a lot of solvent the decals actually snugged down with minimal damage. Again, plastic dealer tag was used to cover up some of the ugly sink marks and was also used to close the large gap under the rear of the body!

Built this one box stock for a friend. Added sheet plastic to some of the sink marks on the chassis, added a vintage set of “Cherry Run” Burger King decals, a couple of coats of Future Clear Floor Polish and called it done. For the sheet plastic for the “sink marks” I was a mechanic for 45 years and had saved some of those plastic dealer tags which make great “free” sheet plastic! For the window net I took a small pan of water and got it to a boil on the stove, held it in the center with a pair of long needle nose pliers. As the plastic became pliable I bent the net over enough so that I could push it down on the bottom of the pan with the pliers until it would drape over the window opening.

Nice progress so far, can’t wait to see it finished.

Can’t wait for this one too. I’m actually old enough to remember when my neighbor got a new one!

Looking for the Revell kit, plenty of trade bait. Also any info on where I may find a 3D GMC Sierra grill to use to make a replica of my ‘04 Sierra Z/71! Thanks

Beautiful job! Reminds me of the one that my best friend’s dad had except his was an 8’ bed (remember those?!) 4x4, same color with old Goodyear “Power Lug” tires! Ugliest truck I’ve ever seen but man that thing would pull a tree down! Great job and thanks for sharing. -
Anybody have an extra Hardtop they’d like to trade? I’ve got a couple of convertibles but can’t find a hardtop nearby. Have trades, tell me what you’re interested in! And by the way I wouldn’t mind have a couple. Thanks

Looks great! A word of wisdom from someone who’s ruined their share of windows. After watching numerous videos on YouTube I found out about “Aileen’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue” and “Mod Podge”, both work great and dry clear without damaging your windows! Also they’re both available at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and most craft stores. -
I believe that you “Pimped His Ride!” Beautiful job!
