    69 Camaro

Actually, the rims are two pieces. The sleeves are old Pegasus low rider sleeves, but the center sections are from a toy called "Hubbs". They were aluminum wheels that came with rubber tires and changable "spinner" centers (they were flourecent and chromed). I had to paint mine. You will notice the big center cap that doesn't fit too well is covering a big hole. You were supposed to play with them like marbles. Here is a pic of what I am talking about. You will see these on some futur builds of mine. I lost the picture of the centers. I will look for them and post it if I find it again.

I built this after going to a local Goodguys event. I think you can see the inspiration. The bar is permentant now (I wasn't sure about it when I first looked at it, but now I like it), even though it is only in the first photo. Speaking of photos... Thanks for looking.
  3. Welcome to the forum. Great build. It really has that muscle car stance. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
  4. There is a lot of neat and creative ideas. I love the bridge display, and chains! That is what I need to keep the kids away! Here is my space. Before you ask, my wife has bad allergies, so the only way I could bring them in the house was to take them out of the original box (it was amazing how much dust and cat hair had collected in them over 30 years!) and put them into what you see. The new ones go into the closet in thier respective boxes now. I made the showcase out of those finished shelves you get at Lowes or Home Depot. Here is my freshly made paint booth. Seeing as how I work for carbon company, I installed a carbon filter so that it does not need to be vented outside. It works pretty well. It depends on the paint. I am still glad it is the garage.
  5. Nice and solid renderings. Good perspective. Thanks for sharing.
  6. I believe the 440 was dropped by 74, but I also believe the 400 would be the blue (along with the small blocks).
  7. Here is a recent build. It has parts from every version of R/M 32s and parts from AMT's phantom Vicky. Interior door panels & seats are from a PT Cruiser, the rear end from an AMT Vette & tail lights from a 37 Ford.
  8. Hey Lyle, thats it! Mine would have looked a lot more like that had I actually completed it when I started it. There are some definate nice points on yours. For starters, your windshields looks like they are mounted better then how I did mine. Ilike how your hood scoop is opened (something I usually try to do myself) and great job scratch building those disks! Mine just came from the 87 Thunderbird kit. They were really close to getting stripped and painted pink then too. That was the part that started the whole build. Thanks for the pics & letting know I'm not crazy.
  9. Gotta love the red hoarses. I saw one exactly like that when I was out in San Francisco. There was some kind of rally going on that I saw almost every kind Ferrari I could think of. I did not realize the flips over to fold down. Once again, gotta love those tamiya kits.
  10. Nice build. I like the wheels/tires & brake combo. Gotta love those Tamiya kits. Nice overall look. 8)
  11. This is one that I finally finished after a long wait. As you can probably tell, it was started in the 80's (hence the pink paint) and was based on a drawing featured in a sketch section somewhere. I did try to update it a little by adding pearl to the paint and composite headlights. The tail lights are 87 (I think) t bird pieces. I used both an Elvira & the green kit from the previous release to make this. I finished it when our club used the 2-n-1 kit for a club build. None of the body parts on this build are from that kit (although it would have been easier.). Simple kit, but went to gether great.
  12. That looks great. The decals look good. I just wish I had a "scrap yard" body like that.
  13. Nice build and great color. Keep us posted on your 70.
  14. Wow, those are both very clean builds. I really love that Porsche, evn with those wheels. (I don't see anything wrong with them) Thanks for sharing.
  15. OK, here are some pics to try to help explain. The mounting screw and disks. 3 disks on the mounting screw. Tighten the screw. Hope this helps.

Thanks. The color is Boyd color "Purpearl" over black and the exhaust is right from a newer Mustang (minus the aluminum tips) with the headers from a R/M 32 ford.
  17. I will keep an eye out, and print a copy of the photo. By the way, YGM.
  18. The drawing looks very solid. I'll be looking for updates. I want to see this one come together. Are you taking pictures of this versus scanning? Either way it does loose some of the subtlties. Thanks for sharing.

While this isn't the greatest kit, the finished product looks pretty nice. I didn't spend a lot of time on this one, but it is one of my favorites. I noticed some discussion on engine wiring, and I can say that this is the first car in a long time that I did not add any wires to the engine. The plug wires are part of the engine from the phantom Vicky kit. I thought this was a cool combo, then I found someone's website who had already built one identicle to this. So much so that I changed the wheels because we even had the same wheels. It is fun to do a simple build every once in a while.
  20. Very nice color combo. Very nice finish. What did you use for the interior color?
  21. Great stance. Has a great look to it. The white in the tail stripe plays very well with the chrome. Good wheel choice.
  22. I think the factory wheels will look fine. The interior looks great, and nice tip on using the sharpie around the edges of the lenses.
  23. looks great! I really like the color of the interior. The cargo net looks OK too. I like how it looks stretched across the shelf.
  24. That one is good. The best one I have had with spray cans is putting them in warm water a couple of minutes before spraying. It increases the pressure and helps the paint to even out more (less orange peal).
  25. I totally agree with the painting (or lack of) of details such as this. I am a fan of Mopars and they use a lot of argent in places people use chrome. It really makes a big difference when little things like these are depicted accuratly. I do have a question though, were all the 70 model mustangs trim pieces painted this way? I ask only because there is a 70 notch back that I drive by very often (original like condition, but not restored) along with others I have seen on the road, and a lot of the time they look like shiney aluminum. It might just be the paint wears off of these pieces easily. Here is pic (again, not that it is original- and not really what I am talking about. but same idea.) I think that helps perpetuates the lie.
