  1. Congratulations Gary! That's always the first step in being able to afford an increasingly expensive hobby! Steve
  2. Looks like a really nice one Bill! I noticed a long time ago that the '59s were more available & usually less expensive than the '58 or '60. Guess it's because it was re-released a couple of times. Steve
  3. Beautiful Al! You couldn't have picked a better color! Steve
  4. Very nice Bruce! What kind of paint did you use? I'm detecting a little metallic in the paint, but it's very subtle. Looks great! Steve
  5. I'm not exactly familiar with the part you're speaking of, but a great technique for doing anything "raised" is to shoot some lacquer paint on the part in the color you want the letters to be, & then spray the part in enamel with the "overall" color. Once the part is dry, you can carefully remove the enamel from the letters with a little enamel thinner on a small swab or tooth pick. The lacquer underneath will be unaffected by the enamel thinner & the raised areas will show through. It's a great technique usually associated with chrome body scripts using foil under the paint. Steve
  6. I've never been a huge Riv fan, but Holy smokes, That Riv is a work of art!! Fantastic stuff Yuri!! Steve
  7. Nice Helmut!! Very nice!! Steve
  8. The '60 is a piece of art Ron! I always hated the looks of the '60 Buick, but after building one, I really gained an appreciation for them. Steve & it's a beautiful one Jon!! Steve
  9. I knew I could count on you to play Richard! Very nice stuff!! Steve
  10. Building models is not a God given talent. It's not one of those things that you either "have" or not. It all takes time & practice. I've been building models for over 40 years & have never really learned the "art" of custom building & never will, because it doesn't interest me. I've learned other aspects of the hobby that I take interest in & have tried to hone those skills over the years. You can never be all things. So just because you can't build customs or whatever other genre, doesn't mean you have no talent. I don't necessarily consider an excellent carpenter "talented". He's just become very good at "what he does" over time. Same applies to any hobby. Steve
  11. We've seen everyone's '59 Mopars & full sized Oldsmobiles, now I'd like to see what everyone has for Full sized Buicks! Another group of cars that are way under represented in the kit world today. What have you got guys? I'll start the show with my '58 Roadmaster & a '59 & '60 Invicta. Steve
  12. I had forgotten about this thread & have since finished my '59 Plymouth, which I'm sure you all have seen! But, I suppose I should add it here anyway. Steve
  13. Thanks so much everyone! The '57,'58 & '59 Plymouths are among my all time favorite car designs! Steve
  14. Thank you Bruce! Steve
  15. Very nice Al! The color suits it perfectly. You have to admit, someone in the design department @ Chrysler Corp. must have been hitting the sauce a little in the early 60s. Some of these old mopars are awfully hard to love! Steve
  16. I have a set for the '60 Starliner. Not a lot of difference. The front fender scripts are a little bigger I believe. Being as it's not going to be "strictly stock" anyway, I'm good with those. They're gold & should look pretty nice against the charcoal paint. Steve
  17. Pretty much happens to all of us at some point, doesn't it? Last time a big slump hit me it lasted over 10 years! Hope you get it back sooner than that Rich! Steve
  18. Thanks everybody!! Steve
  19. Thanks guys!! Steve
  20. As Sollozzo in the Godfather said, "You over estimate me kid, I'm not that clever". Steve
  21. I have to say, the nail polish looks better than most metallic model paints! One of my biggest pet peeves is metallic paint made for 1/25th scale models with metal flakes in them that would be the size of a dime on the 1:1! Steve
  22. It's really refreshing to see a young builder like yourself so excited about the hobby. Keep up the good work Sonny! You're doing an exemplary job!! Steve
  23. thank you so much everyone.....Really!! This one really put a damper on my "one per month" goal! My last one was finished in the first part of April! Oh well, I guess I can blame it on the season! Steve
  24. I didn't take it as a criticism Harry. I knew what you meant. I've been telling myself for years that I need to put together some sort of "back drop" for taking photos. Unfortunately, building seems to keep taking precedence, & I never get it done. Oh well, maybe someday. I never really expected anyone to mistake my builds for real anyway. Steve
  25. The '57 is beautiful Pete!! I love the color combo! Steve
