  1. Scott, did the Corvairs use 13 inch wheels? Is it an AMT kit? The Modelhaus tire page can be a little daunting, but if your using stock wheels, just read the descriptions. They mostly just reproduce old kit tires with new separate whitewalls. Whatever tire's description applies is the one I would use. If it was a 13 inch wheel & an AMT kit, I would say the 260 tire is probably the one. If it was a large wheel, it looks to me like the 197 is probably your best bet. The tires pictured are the 194 tire. AMT 1962-'64 for large cars & pickups. Steve
  2. The color I have is a '58 Plymouth color called "Ivy Green". it seems to be a little darker than this in the jar, but it's metallic & I think it may look pretty nice. Steve
  3. I was kind of shying away from green for the '60 Continental I'm currently working on, but after seeing the artwork on the side of this box, I'm rethinking that! Steve
  4. Thank you all! This was one of those builds that I just wasn't sure how it was going to look in this color combo until final assembly. Even though I was apprehensive, I was happy with the final result. Steve
  5. The 235 tires are 1959 AMT reproductions. They are the "hammer in" type where the wheels were pressed into the tire with no wheel backs. Very handy if you have some old 1959-1961 Amt kits with good re-usable wheels. The 428 ones are the Satco reproductions. Same ones I used on my recent '59 Bonneville. I use them as my kind of "generic", "fall back" tires. Steve
  6. The only good thing about the trim on those fins Charlie, is the fact that they're so straight. Try using some blue painters tape as a guide for trimming the BMF & it really goes quite well. Steve
  7. I have an old built up of that one too. I hate the fact that it's molded in black but you take what you can get. Nice one Peter!! Steve
  8. It always makes me smile to get one of these little boxes from the "Modelhaus". A pair of bucket seats & a set of tail lights for my '67 Bonneville, & 4 more sets of my addiction....Modelhaus wide whites! Steve
  9. I've been putting off this project long enough, but I'm kind of in the mood for another big finned curbside build. With other things going on in my life right now, I just don't feel like biting off a build with an engine & all that. I've had this kit lying around for probably over 20 years. Had all the chrome re-done years ago, & fairly recently, I picked up a hardtop for it, which is what I really wanted to build, so, away we go! There was some body damage from skirts & louvres, but don't let the putty fool you, it's all pretty minor. I'm trying to decide between a couple of colors I have laying around. It will either be a medium metallic brown reminiscent of '60 Lincoln "Rose Glow", or a darker metallic green fairly close to "Deerfield Green". I'm leaning towards the brown as I think a more "formal" color would better suit a Lincoln. Steve
  10. Thanks Skip! I agree, there is plenty of inspiration around here! Steve
  11. Thanks so much guys! you're comments are humbling! Steve
  12. They rarely are bargains when they're in that condition Peter! But they sure are nice to build! Nice stuff!!! Steve
  13. Thank you everyone!! Steve
  14. Is this what you're looking for? Steve
  15. Thank you everybody!! Steve
  16. I live about 100 miles from the area where the car was stored, so finding a suspect will be nearly impossible. It was stored in a farm shed outside of a small town in southern MN. The original owner died some years ago, & the house was rented to.....well, let's just say, some less than desirable tenants over the years. Apparently, at one point, there was a meth cooking operation going on there. I'm assuming that the possibility that the hoses & pipes may have come in handy for this sort of operation?? Anyway, If I had known that this kind of activity was taking place there, I probably would have moved it sooner. But, all of the vital parts remain intact, & the missing parts will generally be easily replaced. Steve
  17. It's actually a little funny Andy! here's a short list of a few parts that were missing. Of course, the speakers. & they damaged the rear package shelf trying to get them out because they had no access to the trunk. They tried to remove the radio, but failed. Incompetent thieves as well! But here's where it gets strange. Along with the air cleaner, alternator & oil filler cap, they also stole things like the upper radiator hose, the door lock buttons & the last 2 feet of the passenger side exhaust pipe! With possibly $1000.00 or more worth of rally ll wheels, rings & caps staring them in the face, they chose the radiator hose & a tail pipe!! Yikes! Steve
  18. There must be something about this color & peoples monitors Bill. I had a comment on another forum where a member thought the gray looked blue! I was actually quite pleased with how the photos came out this time. That alone is unusual for me. But I thought the color was pretty accurately represented this time. Steve
  19. Take a look at the "Under Glass" photos & tell me what you think. I placed them according to the way they look from the exterior. Steve
  20. Thanks so much Bob! I really appreciate the nice comment! Steve
  21. Thank you all!! Steve
  22. Thanks so much everybody! I was a little apprehensive about this color combo myself, but I think it came together quite well. Harry, it's an original AMT '59 Bonneville kit that I picked up on ebay. Steve
  23. Thanks guys! Yes Gene, I foil my scripts before the final color coat, then clean them off & clear coat over them. The top color is an MCW 1959 Dodge color called just plain old "Coral". Steve
  24. I actually finished this up on Wednesday, but this is the first chance I got to get some shots of it. Steve
  25. Pics in "Under Glass" soon! Steve
