  1. You've built another awesome rig man. Looks great. The white really makes it look good.
  2. Thanks Dennis and Vic. It felt good to get something done on this. Maybe with the long weekends the next couple weeks I'll get more done.
  3. You should pick it up. It's out of production right now. This is lookin great. My advice to BMF, take your time. Make sure your nice and calm, relaxed. It is one of things if you not in the right mind set, it won't go right. For me, I usually do my BMF first thing in the morning, after a shower and breakfast. My mind is clear, I'm in a good mood, and the BMF comes out really nice.
  4. I'm still having a problem quoting, then typing a response. I'm using my Android phone. But, if I quote, post just that, I can go edit, then it's fine. This new format still has a few bugs, but I've gotten used to it and really, don't remember the old anymore. Of course I don't remember what I had for breakfast, so don't mind me.
  5. No, it's not quite that long. It's about 240 inch. The COE really makes it look longer. Once I get almost done, I'll take a pic of it next my KW that's 305 inch. Thanks for the compliment. Lookin forward to seeing your build off truck.
  6. Whoa whoa... Let me get this straight. JT, big orange JT, is considering not doing his annual Freightliner COE and instead, building a Pete COE. Just playing with ya man. I can't wait to see your treatment of this cool COE kit. Thanks man, I hope it comes out right. Well, I won't finish it till its right. So I hope it comes out right, without too much trouble.
  7. Thanks Rich. I love me some wheelbase. Thanks Gino. I'm hopin I can pull off my vision.
  8. Thanks Gator. I'm still lookin a few things to decide which way I'm gonna go. I have 2 ideas in my head, just depends on what parts I can find. I think ive got the ride height figured out. I'm gonna shave the axle blocks and 2 leafs from the front springs, and the bump stops and one section of the air bags. That should get it to sit something close to this.
  9. So far so good man. Still pluggin away. I think ive got a solid hour into it so far. The rims and tires are together and ready to fitted onto the axles. Next I'm gonna tackle the suspension, sort of. I need to get the cab some what mounted so I can get the stance I want.
  10. WOW!!! I can't believe how time flies. I would've bet the farm I started this last month, boy was I wrong. 3 months it's been sittin here. Well, I guess part of the problem why it sat, is I wasn't happy with the stretch. The pieces weren't matching up to my liking. So I let it sit. Today I decided to just start doing something and hope I get in a groove. I started by removing the 1 inch piece of extra frame rail, made the deck plate and started assembly on the CAT.
  11. Wow. That is odd.
  12. Some flash their lights, there are a few, me included, that'll give an unsolicited bear report. But it's amazing how many say nothing, do anything. Of course it doesn't help, that in my opinion, the truck stop is dead! They are all travel centers that cater to the 4 wheelers. Case in point, the TA at mile marker 103 in Tonopah Az. The fuel island has VERY limited amenities. The men's room, at the fuel island, has 1 toilet and 1 pisser. A nasty, microwaved deli case and it's not very big at all. Barely enough room to move if there's more than 6 drivers in there. Now, go to the main building. It has the big restaurant, large restrooms, showers, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and the electronics, TVs, CBs, Stereos, Satellite and CB accessories. No drivers lounge. Somewhere I think it might have a laundry. That's basically the scene at most of the fuel stops out my way. It's very sad. There's no where for drivers to sit, relax, hangout with one another. Then all these big companies (fill in whatever company you like) spitting out steering wheel holders like an assembly line. The comradery out here is almost gone. Oh boy, I got on that soap box again. I better stop before someone gets offended.
  13. Ha! I love it man. One of these I'll be growed up enough to get them fat bottom flaps on one of the trucks.
  14. On the Cobras, it's all internal. Basically just going in and adjusting things. The Cobras are tuned to 55 to 60 watts. The Magnum, has a 4 inch wide, 2 inch thick, heat sync off the back. It's not real obvious when it's in the bracket mounted to the over head console. There are linears that are big boxes that are very obvious. Those put out lots of power. I have a small Galaxy 80 kicker that's small and can be hidden. But it only works on bone stock 4 watt radios. I've heard of linears that put out 5000 watts. My question to that is, WHY? Those guys go by, bleeding over onto every channel so nobody can talk, no matter what channel.
  15. They dont. It's a sad thing to see happening. There was a big, serious accident last winter where the snow was bad, very low visibility, and trucks and cars traveling to fast. It was crazy to watch the videos of trucks/cars slamming into the backs of stopped vehicles. Some disagree with me, but I think if every truck on that highway had a CB and had the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH THING ON, that pile up wouldn't have been as bad. That's the other problem, some guys have CBS, and don't turn them on.
  16. The ones with the single plate, is just the step on the bumper and the other with a bunch of plates, is probably a piece of styrene. Maybe Tim will chime in in a few days and confirm.
  17. The CB is dying. Some companies, as like mine, need them to communicate with scale operators, loaders and other trucks while at the plant to pick up or deliver. But, on the highway, the cell phone has pretty much killed the CB. I'm a die hard, trucker to the core. I have 4 hopped up Cobra 29s, one of which is a special edition Harley Davidson radio. I also have a fairly price Magnum S6 with a 120 watt tune on it. I also bought from an ol boy in town, late 80s, solid silver Wilson 2000 antennas, and a mid 90s Astatic mic, made Conne Aut, Oh. Those who know, know that's kind of a big deal. Usually, the plates on a truck or trailer now are only for where it is registered. There are permit stickers that trucks need now for certain states, New York comes to mind right away. There are more. But as far as plates, there's only the one now, except for internationally registered, I've seen Mexican plates and US plates on some trucks here.
  18. I must say, Tim is the man. I just got done lookin at the current issue of MCM and his article has really inspired me. The 350/280 looks great, the 351 is just awesome and the 289 is the build that got my wheels turnin. Here are the pics of the trucks from the MCM article. The pics are from Tim's Fotki The 280. The 351 The 289
  19. I love that C500 Dennis. That Snowman build is awesome.
  20. The trailer will hold 6 cars no problem. Your problem might be in height. The Explorers are taller than cars. I put a slammed Nomad on the bottom deck of my trailer and the roof hits the upper deck.
  21. Great idea Sean! Here are mine. Let's see, this list may not be in order of the pics, but close. My in process I have a 389, 367, Volvo w/53 foot smoothie, "poor mans" 379 Maggini Pete, a barely started kit bash 352 and opened box DM600 crane truck. The Volvo is the closest to being done.
  22. Those are two great conversions. Nice job man.
  23. 3 actually. The last Volvo is red. I think his paint supplier is having a problem getting orange. LOL. Great year JT. Lots of great builds. That transporter gets me everytime. I love it. Terry... Those are a couple of great builds. The weathering is well done.
  24. It looks like the only wagon, is the Nomad. Everything else is "custom". Good for a few parts, but way over priced. 20 bucks at most.
