DM 600 Container roll-off completed
Petetrucker07 replied to Tesla's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
All this from a guy who's only been building for a couple years. Talk about having a knack for this. -

To answer your questions... A DPF, diesel particulate filter, it's used to filter the soot out of the exhaust. It's just big filter that's it. And it also acts a as muffler too. The wheel chalks are sometimes stored on the truck either in a box, rack or anywhere the fit. They can be on the trailer too, as mine are on my work truck since I'm constantly unhook in the trailer to unload. Go on UTube and search transfer dump truck and you'll understand why I'm constantly unhooking. But for the dry van and refer guys, the wheel chalks are usually on site, in the docking area, same with the trailer jack stands when required to unhook while unloading. The truck you posted, it does have aftermarket wheel well trim, usually it's black rubber. -

The fuel tanks are mostly aluminum, some are steel. Stainless is heavy and a bit pricey, so it's rarely used. The boxes are mainly used as battery and storage. Some look like boxes, but are just steps to hide the DPF. You posted a really nice truck. Different from the kit, but it can be built. The steps can be gotten from P&P Resin, if they have them in stock. The headlights are bit tougher to do, but I'm sure you can do it. The rear fenders are bitchin on there, I like the long gangster lowrider style that those are. I'm really lookin forward to seeing what you build Micheal. I'm sure it will be just as detailed and we'll done as your drag cars. I'm almost shakin, waitin. -

Tell that to Ritchie Acosta in his project 350 Pete out there on the East Coast. He pulls a reefer with that 350 inch wheelbase east coast truck. Now that was done for looks. In my opinion it's too long. Out here, we have overall length laws, but the long wheel base allows us to carry the long 65 to 75 foot beams and rebar on a 48 foot trailer with no permits. Granted, there are some that are done for looks. It is a West Coast, long and low thing. -
Gas Monkey - Hot Wheels Corvette
Petetrucker07 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He doesn't want to be on TV anymore. He doesn't like the attention. Which is why don't care for the guy. Jesse James does like the attention, people standing outside his shop when West Coast Choppers was still in business. I mean really!?! The people are who made you your money, and your whine and bitch about people wanting to see you! Then he did have a show, whatever it was called with his Austin Speed Shop guys. I couldn't get in to it, because of his and his attitude. I'll watch douchbag Richard Rawlings butcher a Vette, before I give Jesse my viewership. -

I prefer Bitchin Rides and Vegas Rat Rods. The boys at Welderup do some amazing things with not so ordinary parts. -

Looks great. This detail would've gone over looked by some since it can't really be seen to well. -

Some do it so they can haul long loads, others do it for looks, some do it with intentions of putting the huge sleeper on, if they haven't already. -

It depends on which kit. The Ca Hauler, Diamond Reo, White Road Boss, Western Star, are able to be day cabs. It gets a bit more involved with say a Revell snap KW or Pete. Those cabs and sleepers are molded as one piece. -

Nope. It's either a cummins or a 8V71. The Revell trucks are only ones with CATs. -
Well, come first of the year here in Cali, the old iron is gonna be few and far betwwen. Emissions is killing the old work horse truck. They're headed for the graveyard, scrap yard, or hopefully someone's garage to be restored and used for truck shows and RV use. In California, the loud pipes on trucks workin are almost gone, sad times a comin.

I sent you a couple pics of my COEs. If you want to see custom modern, here ya go... Here's my Moebius Prostar. Lowered, stretched, resin fenders, weed burner exhaust (exhaust underneath), scratch visor, interior matches outside, super single drive tires(kinda wasted those since you can't see them), and a few other tiny details (valve stems and that sort of thing). -
Whats your work area like?

Once we get somewhere I have enough room, this is almost the exact mental image I have for my area. I love the shop feel of this. This is an awesome area. -

Great save! I like the look. Palm Springs is real, and parts of it is Resort..mainly around Sinatra and Bob Hopes homes. But you get outside of that, it's pretty desolate and a bit ghetto. I know because I deliver sand, rock and decorative rock there. -

I think what they're talking about are simple things. Switching out tires, lowering a little, adding a part or 2 from another kit, making a visor for a kit that didn't come with one. The easy stuff that didn't require a bunch of time to do. Example: This Ca Hauler. I added a Sleeper, made a visor, switched out the steer tires for Moebius, added quarter fenders from a Freightliner COE, and lowered the front a little. This Revell snap Pete. Started out simple. Made a visor, added straight stacks and lowered the front a little. But then I re-did it. And went on. I slammed it on the ground, changed the stacks, added Moebius rims and tires, resin fenders, scratch built mounts/Light bars, scratch bumper, different visor, chop panels on the doors, cab and sleeper drop panels, dual air cleaners, stretched the frame, smooth deck plate and altered the front fenders. -

While building my stretched out Kenworth in the early summer, I "lost" the clear plastic sprue. Luckily it was a snap kit, so I had a reason to buy another kit. Now fast forward to last weekend. While cleaning the house, my wife found the sprue. In the bathroom of all places in -

Current truck aftermarket?

I think someone from AITM will list some things from time to time, same with P&P. Other than that, I'm not sure. -
I remember the numb feeling I got when they said he passed. Most of the news crew was let go. Where Lisa G went, who knows. It's amazing how big a hypocrite Howard is. How preaches and moans about being on time, doing things in a timely manner, yet here he has 3 shows left, still no desicion.
