  1. Cool. I think the poll voting amongst our peers is a good thing. I'm sure there will be some bias, but it's that way in voting for a governor or president. That, it would also allow all forum members to vote, not just build off entrants.
  2. The 26th, That's awesome he has the same B-day as the Duke and Hank Sr. It's an awesome feeling holding him. I'm very happy. Thank you.
  3. I've been thinkin about this for a little while. Would there be any interest in a Big Rig Build off? This would be a deadline build, with poll voting for say, 14 days, no weathering, any make of heavy truck, all out custom show truck build. It would have to be a new or total restoration, no finished builds would allowed. I was inspired by the PKY Build off in Louisville. Anybody in for this? Any ideas for rules?
  4. I did think about painting just the bad panels. Like they were replaced from damage, forklift, accident, something like that. But the I'd still have to paint it over again once I find decals.
  5. Man that looks great. I really need to try out this soldering thing. What kinda of soldering iron are using? I have a serious fabrication build planned and soldering may make it easier.
  6. Thanks man. I decided to get this as close to finished as possible, I'm going to paint the bad side of trailer. Then, when I get replacement decals, I'll apply them. I'll just make sure when this is displayed on my shelf, the good side is showing.
  7. I heard that the manufacturers usually release the new stuff later in the month.
  8. This looks great Alain. When you do the 988, I hope you do a build thread. I'd love to see that come together.
  9. Thanks Brett. I'll be ordering one shortly.
  10. I'm in the same boat. There are many, many things I want to do. I know at that moment I don't have the talent. Whatever build I have in mind for my "beyond my talent" build, I wait. Start acquiring the parts for it and let sit. I will try some "more than I did before" stuff on other builds and work my up to it. I build mainly trucks. I'd love to do a fully detailed, plumbed and wired, build. But I don't have the skills to do it, yet. I did my first detailed engine a few months back, it came out pretty nice. Next, when I don't know, I'll do a chassis. Someday I'll be able to do a fully detailed truck. I say don't think of yourself unable or not good enough. Think of it as nor yet. Try a little at a time, eventually you will have the talent and not even realize it till your doing it.
  11. Am I only one seeing the tower hobbies is still saying this is discontinued?
  12. Thanks guys. He had a check up this week and the Dr said he was perfect. My wife got a little infection. She doing much better now. Seems like her healing process is back on track.
  13. I build big trucks mainly. I know I couldn't build a whole kit. But I could bring some brushes and what not to do engines. I could do frames also if get the alterations, stretching, shorten, and what not done at home.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Good to see another Cali modeler. I'm a truck driver and I have pondered the hotel modeling thing.
  15. I did not build this, I resurrecting it though. It was built by Terry (superpeterbilt). And this Dirty DR I'm working on, very slowly.
  16. Now this looks awesome. Paint looks very good. Well done.
  17. Yep. I put 3 good coats of clear over the entire trailer. Yesterday was around 90 degrees, no humidity. I let sit outside for about 10 hours, then it sat over night. I know put tape on too soon. I was hopin I'd get lucky since I was impatient.
  18. Since I had a set back with the Volvo build, I pulled this out sooner than I had expected. I was curious how much lower this is compared to a box stock, so here's a pic.
  19. Well, this build is on hold till who knows when. The decal on the left side of the trailer are ruined. My own fault, being impatient. I taped off the bottom rail to paint it. While removing the tape, it ripped the decal in half. So, this is off the bench till I find another decal sheet.
  20. Welcome to the forum.
  21. I should be back on this some time this week. I'm going to work on the floor and get the rear window cut out in the right spot this time.
  22. That looks killer. I think it's perfect. The brackets and everything really make it look great.
  23. Thanks JT. Here are a couple of pics of what I managed to get done today. I applied the decals and cleared the trailer. I also got the skirts and bracing on, as well as the DOT bumper.
