  1. I don't believe it was, but I've seen lots of real '66-'69 Mopars painted in the wild 1970 colors like Sublime, Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy, etc., and somehow they seem to pull it off. And so does your VERY well done model!
  2. Impressive black paint!
  3. Very, very nice! Again, you're making me want to ask what the paint is, as it's quite nice looking and really goes with the car.
  4. Very, very nice! I'm a bit of a first-gen Camaro nut/purist and I can usually find five or six things "wrong" with most Camaro models here. Aside from the obvious Day Two aftermarket mods (wheels, tires, yellow plug wires, pinstriping, etc.), I only found two minor, easily correctable nits to pick that aren't factory-correct. Of course, if you were going for a modern "resto-mod" look, then that's completely irrelevant, so I won't say what they are unless you ask. Don't take this post the wrong way. This is actually HIGH praise coming from me. It's a VERY nice model and you obviously did your homework on it. Well done and model on!
  5. Thanks! I was just about to use that on a project, but now I think it might be way too sparkly for what I have in mind. On the other hand, I know from experience that flake paints can look MUCH flakier in photos than in real life, so it might work, but something to think about. Nice build, BTW, very clean!
  6. Not what I was expecting at all. Different and interesting, and very sharp!
  7. Thanks. I have a can of that--good to know what it'll look like. You did great with the interior wood, too. Model on!
  8. If green's a requirement, he can't add a '65 (unless he finds a green racer or something). For '69, on the other hand, he has a choice of no less than THREE greens. Black Jade would be the closest to the dark green '66-'68s.
  9. I loved these things as a kid, and even went to the trouble to put them on a few of my models. Of course, I didn't know at the time how stupid they are. Truth to tell, I still they look cool on some kinds of cars.
  10. I saw a light metallic blue one today at Hobby Lobby, but I like Steve's dark blue one and my red one better.
  11. I like the color. What's the paint?
  12. Sparkly! What's the paint on this one?
  13. Went to HL for the first time since before Christmas. No new kits. Got the Revell Mazda, a couple paints I needed, and a set of these wheels, which I've been wanting to try for a long time now. Turns out they're a little big, but I think I can find SOMETHING to use them on--maybe a 1/24 diecast of some kind. https://pinecar.woodlandscenics.com/show/Item/P347/page/1
  14. Those are remarkable. I have a friend in Model Airplane world who has been building 1/72 airplanes for at least 40 years and has probably hundreds of them, all hand-brushed. He's only tried his hand at a few cars but he managed to achieve an amazing finish on those as well, simply not knowing that "it can't be done."
  15. You are not alone, my friend. For a certain period of our history, about half everything Monogram made was at least a little weird. And a good percentage of AMT and MPC's production, too. Ick!
  16. First time I ever heard that was as a small boy, when my Dad returned from some adventure in the Great Southwest and announced that he had eaten rattlesnake. Have heard it many, many times since. Apparently nearlly everything that's not beef, pork, or fish "tastes like chicken."
  17. Agree completely. That's exactly my policy, too.
  18. Very nice! Ain't it fun to rehab a valiant old survivor?
  19. Nice work! I like to rehab promos and old glue bombs, but your skill--and especially patience--FAR exceeds mine. Model on, my friend!
  20. I wouldn't have bought a single one of those bodes (except possibly that Ford sedan delivery), but there's no denying you have both talent and skill. Respect!
  21. Clean build, great photography, you almost convinced me that was a factory color!
  22. Where can I buy those shirts by the dozen? My Christmas shopping next year is DONE!
  23. Reminds me of one of my favorite expressions: "Like a couple of chickens fighting over a piece of garbage."
  24. One pointed-tip .22 pellet from a modern hi-vel air rifle will "deter" a squirrel permanently, I can assure you.
  25. Check out Krylon's Sparkle line. It's a large flake, but dries very smooth and shiny. I've got a couple cans I'm gonna use on dune buggies and maybe some customs. That's how sparkly and flaky it is. Comes in red, blue, green, purple, and what they call "orange" but looks more gold-ish to me.
