I see it now! You guys are right! Not an obvious ding but now that I've seen it, I can't un-see it. I can think of a couple different ways to fix this that aren't difficult, just another PITA that shouldn't be necessary in the 21st century. Thanks for the heads-up!

I don't know it, but it's kinda close to a spoken line from another song with this lyric. Bonus cookie for the writer of this song as well as performer: Famous hair, bulging eyes, lips so thick Are you woman, are you man? I'm your biggest funked-up fan So rock me and roll me till I'm sick.

Heard it a bazillion times, but for some reason reading the lyrics didn't ring any bells for me. Ain't that weird! I'm watching her on The Voice this season. She is not at all what I expected. But then, almost nobody on there has been the way I expected them to be at the beginning.

Who says all Mustang II's are ugly
Snake45 replied to rusty85's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like it! Looks like the fenders have been opened up to take real wheels and tires, and the rear end has been bobbed. -
Dunno what it is, but I'm kinda diggin' it a little. Did someone try to make a sports car out of...hmmmmmm...a Model A roadster?

Sad Little Opel GT--What Should I Do With It?
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The thing has the V6 in it and I have plenty of Webers from AMT Corvette kits. I'm not against putting an engine in it but I'm not gonna get into a bunch of chassis re-engineering and detailing and so forth. I'll prolly utilize the big rear axle that's with it now either way I go, one way or another. -
Sad Little Opel GT--What Should I Do With It?

Great ideas! Keep 'em comin'! -
I bought this sad little AMT '69 Opel GT at a flea market for $4. All the “important parts” seemed to be here (and are) except the hood. I have an unbuilt reissue kit and can jack the spare hood from that, so that's covered. I'll do something with it, but what? I have two ideas. Both would be curbside shelf-sitters—would look good on the shelf but I'm not getting into heavy chassis detailing. 1, Gasser! Something like—though not an exact model of—this: (Unless decals are available—then I could actually DO that.) I'd stuff a blown small-block Chevy in it and paint it that nice bright Testor lacquer flaky blue. 2 . Street cruiser/canyon carver: Lowered and raked a bit, smoothed & dechromed, biggest wheels and tires I can fit to the widest edge of the stock fender openings—maybe even some of those goofy little “pro touring” wheels and tires. No strong vibe on color of this one yet, possibly the same Testor flake blue as idea #1. Something sorta kina like this: Vote now! Or give me another idea. I love a (minor) challenge and hate to see good styrene go to waste.

I don't know it, Harry, but it reminds me of one of my favorite Warren Zevon lyrics: Well, they say this place is evil But that ain't why I stay 'Cause I found something That will never be nothing And I found it in L.A.

Speaking of covers, you prolly won't believe this but the first time I ever heard that song was on David Bowie's cover album Pinups. And it wasn't until several years later that I heard the Who's original.

Well, I meant specifically that other people made the songs famous and Dylan didn't--like "Watchtower." Things where to this day a lot of people know the song but don't know Dylan wrote it. You can still shock people when you ask them who wrote Patsy Cline's "Crazy" or Linda Rondstadt's "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" or Three Dog Night's "Joy to the World" or Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

Very cool! I've never seen anything from Norm that wasn't absolutely first-rate.

are there any group builds in here, any interest?
Snake45 replied to turbo nova's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Oh, I'm certain that someone, somewhere, had a '65 Riv on the strip in at least a Stock class. But even if not, so what? Doesn't mean YOU can't build a '65 Riviera racer if you want--even up to an AWB funny car. Come to think of it, that would be pretty cool! -
Charlie Smith's Plain Vanilla 25T A/Altered from 1964
Snake45 replied to magicmustang's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Absolutely fabulous! You did a great job on this! And you won't believe this, but not 15 minutes ago I was looking at an old Rod & Custom magazine from 1964 and saw a picture of this very car--recognized the name immediately! -

We could just go with 1965 and that would be fine with me--either a '65 model year car or something that raced in 1965. Hell, I just finished a '65 Chevelle drag wagon. I'd be cool with 1966, '67, '68, or '69, too, if anyone wants to limit things to one particular year. I'd be cool with an altered wheelbase build, too. Been meaning to get to a couple of them anyway. -
It's amazing the number of songs Dylan wrote that other people (all of them better singers ) made famous or had hits with. I used to have a whole mental list of them but the only one I can think of at the moment is "All Along the Watchtower." I suppose there's a whole generation now that thinks "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is a Guns N Roses song. (About a decade or a little more ago, I shocked my teenage daughter one day when I started singing "All the Young Dudes." "Dad, you KNOW that song????!!!!" Evidently someone covered it for a popular movie in the '90s or something. I told her I'd been singing that song since her Mama was still in high school. )

Fogging up car windows...... how ?
Snake45 replied to cobraman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I learned the hard way that naphtha (lighter fluid) doesn't melt or craze styrene like other solvents, but it does something even weirder: It seems to soak into the plastic and make it very brittle. Put the slightest pressure or twist on it and it will crumble like a peanut butter cookie. After it dries out, the plastic seems to be okay again. I often use the stuff as a paint thinner for airbrushing gloss paint, because it flows the paint out very smooth, but still dries fairly quickly. But here again, one strange side effect: You can't leave paint thinned with naphtha, because it will turn into Jello in a few days, so don't thin more than you'll be airbrushing in a day or two. (On the other hand, I've thinned enamels with lacquer thinner, left it for years, shook it up and airbrushed it some more.) -
AMT "Sand T" Rebuild/Resto--Finished Pics 10/14
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well, I could, except for I don't have the big dually rear tires anymore. It's still missing lights and windshield, which I hope to rectify tomorrow. I think I still have the roll bar. That picture clears up a mystery, which is why the keg mount thingie seems to fit backwards. The gear shift lever coming over the cowl shows that the body is supposed to be mounted far, far back of the "normal" fad T position. Now it all makes sense. (I'm not doing that.) I always wondered, from Day One, how much fun it would be to run six carbs with big velocity horns in the sand. I'll bet it would be great---once. -

Ever think about modeling cartoon art ?
Snake45 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Y'know, I've taken a look at a few of those toys at Walmart with an eye to "Now what could I do with THAT and some Model-fu?" So far I haven't seen one yet that inspired me enough to actually purchase it with U.S. cash dollars--but I ain't sayin' it COULDN'T happen....
