  1. OK 'nuff said! Here comes that update!!!!!!!!!!! Sleigh........ is now getting paint! MOPAR ENGINE RED!!!!!! (Gotta keep it ALL Mopar...RIGHT!?) Seen this side is the "green" starter wires....And yes, they do get "buried" into the frame!!!! Showing details.....The "White" frame is painted, it has BOTH engine mounted to it as well as the odd looking transmission.....The coil wires in place, seen here, running to the alternator, thats also operated by that odd transmission! Over all of this side.....The frame is complete, NOW getting details from the front.. to the BACK..... THE SECRET IS COMING!
  2. This is the inspiration for the whole build..... I thought that it be a good place to put this to have not given away what I was attempting to do!
  3. So those messages are over. see the following SLEIGH, body as it is standing in place for a mock-up.... Looks pretty dang good from here for ole Santa! The seat, is from a '41 Plymouth, that I just got on trade, HOWEVER, because of the tendency of my own self, I built the sleigh around THAT seat, I wasn't happy with the work needed to the seat for this project, tosses it back in the box with the complete model, pulled out my NEW model of the same car, and assembled just THAT seat from the new '41 Plymouth coupe to use and will use bucket seats in the new kit when I build it but use the bench seat for this build! A lot of work but, with this build, I got some STEEP competition to get around. To win anyway. see what I have on a limited supply of parts and time! ENJOY! P.S. there IS a "SECRET" to this build NOT yet seen!
  4. So, a few pics to add for an update..... I made a template for the body of the.......sleigh, and so here you see the card stock used and the hand drawn contours of whats to come...... Here that template is, traced onto the plastic sheet. The WHOLE body of this model, WILL BE scratchbuilt to suit the needs of the jolly ole fat man to ride in..... Like always with me, more pictures to come as progress is made for this MOTM entry!
  5. Here comes the detail people..... Not sure if ya can see it well, BUT in the front of the engine there is the distributor to each of the 2 engines, they're MSD clones I made, they were turned on my lathe from a solid plastic sink plunger handle that I found for 2 bucks a 3 foot handle at a local bargain "close-out" store........ Yeah, I bought a few, they turn real well in the lathe for some such things and they also glue well with ALL plastic glues I have, Ambroid, Tenax 7R, Plastruct, Testors, Super Glue, Crazy Glue, you name it, it all works on this plastic! AND it turns so well, I look for it all the time for this very reason! The only waste? The plunger head! Makes NICE parts tho! Shows a good picture of the Distributors! ----^ The silver "Valve Cover Breathers" are turned aluminum rod, that I just held onto 1 inch long slugs for some such project needing something pretty small, one section is all it took to make all 4 of them! NICE detail work going in and coming out to be seen from my camera! Took some advice from a fellow forum member here and hes right! The wire looms I'm using, they look GREAT, even tho I can use the Photo-Etched ones, the heat shrink tubing, looks and works really well! (He KNOWS, who he is!) Thanks guy! ENJOY, more to come as I build!
  6. EVERYONE, remember with me, almost ANYTHING is possible! I scratchbuild like no other, and this is one fine example of that. this whole build is actually scratchbuilt, with absolutely NO plans what-so-ever! Scary part of that? Is the fact that with no plans "winging it" means it can go in ANY direction, at ANY given time! So far, the engines, are my castings, this would include, the engine block, transmission, the heads and the valve covers, the blowers are left overs I had, and the blower "saddles" that sits between the heads, and the bottom of the blower is a machines piece of plastic that I made glued together multiple layers of plexiglass to get the "look" as I had NO blower saddles to fit these engines, or even the blowers to even think of modifying them to try to use them, so.....I made my own. THEN the pulleys, I had them matching, I used them from a left over kit. The details that are coming........OMG, I'm about to unleash serious power on this build, so, STOP talkin John and post some updated pics would ya!!!!????? I can hear ya all now! WHAT? You thought I'd just "modify" a existing frame to hold these beasts? Not in a million years! Ole John has to make EVERYTHING seemingly difficult so, I scratchbuilt the damned frame too! B-| Wouldn't be me, if I didn't! THEN.......Those who know me, know me well... seeing these as they are, you know I CAN'T STAND leaving things alone it HAS to be detailed......
  7. Just to get everyone's "attention"...................
  8. So then, I see a few has "looked" so now I'll give ya...... As you see this is purdy big....Anyone GUESS what they are? Hows 'bout I show ya! Heads "look" big enough? Also just another HEADS up............. this seen here ARE MY CASTINGS!
  9. So, I'll start mine off with...... Well, I'll leave ya with this one for now......Keep all ya guessing for a bit, as this is my FIRST MOTM entry!
  10. Thanks Michael! I'm actually working on "Daisy" to go with the truck.............. LOL
  11. Dave, that truck looks GREAT in primer too BTW!!!!! NICE work on the body work!
  12. Mark, I LOVE the Dualie!!!!! NICE job!
  13. -Well my friend, I'll be watching the build, on this one for sure!!!! (PM headed your way too!)
  14. Dave, Dang it........... this IS growing on me! I like the way that long truck looks "stock height, I say make it either as you have it 2x4, at the same height, or 4x4 it and still keep it about the same height, don't raise it up or well "lift" it as much as you can help it.... I'd still go 4x4 tho, on a stock height truck (not a lot of guys keep them "stock" on these trucks as they truly are so easy to lift.... Especially 4x4!!!)
  15. LOVE absolutely LOVE the 4x4 "wheeler, with a house on ITS wheels. and tires for going where no regular truck can or could...... NICE job! Whats the camper from? Thats not the AMT kit with the wedge racers bed is it?
  16. Darren, NICE Work! Whats the trailer itself, from? The work you're doing here fits my Sense of humor PERFECTLY..... Where'd you get the "dressings" on the stage? -Those fit right in my twisted sense of humor!!!!!
  17. I'll have ti look at my kit of this one, as I haven't looked closely to it at all.... BUT if these same areas ARE "thick" I'll be doin' much the same as you did here........ I WILL say however, I THINK I'm changing my wheels on this kit from the Rallye's to the Magnum 500's, (something different on the '70 'Cuda for me, and I also think I'm going 440 6 barrel too! (engine goin' between the frame rails could change at the drop of my Mopar hat that sits atop my head! LOL)
  18. NICE Work so far Mike! When you get to the engine, I've read somewhere, this kit has a choice of exhaust headers and or manifolds, I'd LOVE to see a good pic of the headers in it.... As I'm "up in the air" on buying this kit and seeing you build this one is showing me if I will or won't buy it when I have the $$$$$ in-hand next time around at the hobby shop!
  19. So far so good Bill! Can't wait to see what ya do for a power plant!!! -The pic where the "wing" is missing gives a whole different look to the 'Bird....
  20. Dave that tailgate looks to be in SUPER nice shape too! -You got lucky man! LOL Those are not easy to come by! Your truck tho.... as you have it all mocked-up for the pics, be a GREAT "Junk Yard" build model LOL (all the different colored parts!) LOL All that said, sad thing is, coming from me? I get to making a Crew cab late '70's Dodge pick-up, I do believe I'll be adding a step-side bed to mine. (I think I have one extra!) And that my friends is wild! because, in real life (1:1 scale) out of all the trucks I've owned, not ONE of them was long bed, straight side! -Every truck I've ever owned (ALL Dodge) were step-side bed trucks! -Even my current Beast!
  21. Joe..........seriously man, we NEED a "LIKE" button here!!!!! That Bus is turning out pretty darned good man the decal effect on the transparent body is a really NIICE touch!
  22. I haven't found one in resin yet, but if someone did mold a resin crew cab '70 Dodge truck cab, I'd LOVE to know who so I could go on a hunt for one and or keep an eye out for one! -Ain't got enough of these kits to put a "kit-crew cab together like Dave did here. as I WOULD if I had 2 more of these kits........ LOL
  23. Thanks! Much appreciated, a crazy one, YES but thats just me.....
  24. Joe in "real life" that motor I bet would NOT turn 1 RPM till the crank went through the oil pan! LOL OR if it did run, it couldn't turn much over 100 RPMs due to the fact the compression have to be so low because of all thats "going in" that it run off gasoline enriched pee! -On "straight" gasoline! LOL Just a "wild" and I MEAN "W-I-L-D" dreamt up build is all from a crazy imagination....
  25. LOL Dave, I say build it as you see fit...... BUT you can still do the 4x4 way, and make it look "stock" and be not a high truck and not a low truck but look good all at the same time... Just go stock 4x4 suspension, NO lift, and slightly bigger then stock tires and it be good! That truck tho look good anyway you build it.....it IS afterall a D-O-D-G-E!!!!!!
