  1. Guys, -I'll bite!!!! Some model....Completed like 22-25 years ago, I took an entire year to build this one! (I no longer have this model).... I took 2 of this one truck and made what your about to see. The tractor has a multitude of working lights, and it plays the radio while at the same time you can hear the roar of the CB blaring away too. the bunk, has a "red" light in it for laughs.... The trailer? 100% scratchbuilt, thee only factory parts? the tires and rims, as well as the mud flaps! I took this to a rather intense show once, and this show had a serious and I mean SERIOUS contest, I was scared as I was standing in line to register to see what was going by that had entered. ALL 18 wheelers..... I don't have this model today. BUT I do have the ribbon I got from that contest, and spent $500 nicely! I got 1st place, for the type truck, 1st place flat bed trailer. 1st place 2 models combined, and best of show over all..... I never thought it do it, but really, this truck does EVERYTHING but run! ALL the lights work, turn signals, headlights, amber marker lights all tail lights EVEN the BRAKE lights worked on a momentary switch.....CRAZY stuff... I wish I still had this one. Only way I'd do it again, is if I could cough up a Western Start from the late 80's...... ENJOY
  2. Nope different name here then at FABO... we been goin back an forth on resin parts to this build. I am 67 Power Wagon over there due to owning the type truck, I go by here what I favor most..... As anyone in the modeling world can own a Hemi, OR a few of them......
  3. Yeah, don't ya love that!? ALWAYS have to look at things differently to know what your trying to achieve! ANYWAY, I got to ask, I know of the salt method of "rusting" BUT I got to ask how did you remove it on this one?
  4. So, you went "full circle".......????? It looks good both ways! BUT I have to admit, I liked the 2 tone black and green!
  5. I have to say......I've NEVER been real fond of the snap-fast kits, BUT, there is the exception to the rule......ALWAYS is! NICE job man! I mean really you done well on this one! I have this same model, and I plan to tear open the hood and add a diesel to it, BUT as a curbside kit, you done it justice! NICE work!
  6. WELL theres a FAMILIAR name, and picture!!!!!!!! A FABO fellow brother........
  7. Jo-Hans kits........ NICE!!!! I'll be on the look-out for one, or several......
  8. any difference from the early Slant 6 in this kit to the later made ones? I have this kit when it had ERTL-MPC on the box (I'd have to look at the box date to see what year it might be close too.....) I'm making mine a LOW rider tho.... so I'm customizing a custom HMMMMMM
  9. Dan the color you used on the rear in this one, Alclad, "Dark Aluminum" or what? (I have both Chrome and Dark Aluminum from Alclad) and was wondering what that look like on Valve covers.............
  10. Thanks guys! Like I said, I never was a big fan of the "300" it was something to do tho as a kit and a bit of research (I never worked on a real one) BUT the model, grew on me as I was building it..... Then you have that 392 Hemi it came with originally..... I seen pictures of the Drag racing twin-turbo'd thing I posted from Hot Rod magazine that I wanted to shoe-horn into something... BUT I just couldn't bring myself to do it to a muscle car, (era wasn't right for the 392 to me) BUT then I seen that this '57 300 had a 392 and that my friends was the GO light on doing that turbo set up, and while I did that, I did the tutorial for it as well! I tell you all, I ENJOY engine building, (you can't tell by any means) BUT I got to say, I enjoyed building the whole car (I used to HATE interior work) but now, I enjoy it a bit more as I'm incorporating "extra" details into it..... With all that, made this car "grow" on me!
  11. Mike, Thats one thing I don't have to worry about.... the truck.............. I don't have the "set" I got a single boat and trailer, with no truck kit..... to fit to any truck I want..... But what ya get when ya got a Hemi guy building it thats got a 392 in it already, you jump a step up to the 426.....
  12. Thanks Gator! I appreciate it! I got the frame painted and doing a bit of brush painting details on it, so.... I have a little ways to go BEFORE any glued in detail to the frame can be done.... A bit of scratch building as well as simple assembly to smaller sub-assemblies! Pictures will soon follow!
  13. LOL Gordon, who you speaking too? Me or Atmobil? -I wouldn't mind locating a second cab to the VTS truck from Revell, Just, in case I want to do the extended cab version of the T-Rex..... I have the needed bed parts....
  14. Who makes these kits?
  15. Thanks Mike! Sadly, I THOUGHT of doing the headliner in fur, BUT if you only knew what it took to get that back window parcel shelf done and look the way it does, you'd know WHY I didn't go that route! (Plus the glue to hold it in place is really "thick" would have been difficult to "hide" the edge of it around the windows! The body color is Testors Enamel "Panther Pink" sprayed through my air brush. The Top is Testors Flat white used as primer, over coated with Testors "Pactra" Pearl White, ALL then gloss clear coated with Rustoleum Lacquer Gloss clear coat. Some of the chrome is done Testors brush on Chrome paint, and then the side chrome trim mid rear fender panel is BMF (The first time I've EVER used BMF on a model is seen in this build! I have to admit (This is difficult to do as a "Mopar guy") BUT, I've never been fond of the old Chrysler 300, till I built this one! I do in fact like it.... Never appealed to me years ago, but now..... I'd own a real one! I'm going to search out a second one..... To make bone-stock "1957".....
  16. Thanks Joe..... I appreciate it. Thats the second time around for me making the turbo's in a model, (the first time was going in my monster truck), that I have to get back too, as when I left off on it, I was working on the interior! -Once my 2 pick-ups are done for Fathers day! But thanks man, I thought I ought to have posted the "build" to this model...... I did however "show" the finished car a while back.....
  17. And there ya have it, this is the complete build of my '57 Chrysler 300C, from beginning, to the end! -COMPLETE!
  18. Ladies & Gentlemen... ITS THAT TIME............... Ye ole '57 Chrysler 300 is NOW finished! I suppose this would be truly the first model I've completed in 27 years or so......(The sleigh was completed), BUT I can't really classify it a "Model" so........... Anyway....... THEE FINAL SECRET IS COMING!!!!!! Whats this? A DIFFERENT HOOD!? YOU BET! NOW I BET your thinkin' ole John screwed up and had to do something to the hood to bring it back together... WRONG, I coughed up TWO hoods! My interior shots: My Undie of the 300: And finally: -Just before it goes into its NEW display case! -Enjoy! COMPLETED March 20th 2015!
  19. Thanks! I built this one awhile ago BUT I typed EVERY posting in MS Notepad, and saved it to be able to post the whole build as you see it here! Thanks tho, its much appreciated! So then............... NOW what everyone has been waiting for...... THEN Final pic till its DONE! This is it people.. the rest will be in the done section of this build for me....... THANK YOU all for the kind comments and the following along to the build! THAT is what makes it FUN!!!
  20. Then you have a bit of the motor into the build: Thats one side/direction.... THEN from the other:
  21. So, it has been awhile since I've added anything NEW to this build of mine....Been going right at it, really, BUT had to be in a place to handle and touch for pics to be done so...... So as I have mentioned "interior work is being completed...... Here you see the roof liner... I added color to it, "white" as well as a bit of BMF, on the shades, and then painted them, "Panther Pink" in the center to have the look as tho it has a Chrome rim around the edges.....I ALSO BMF'd the "dome lights, there are 2 of them! I am not sure if I'm gonna add some sort of "lens" in the center of them, or not, we'll see, MAYBE, if I come up with the right "look" for it.... THEN. the interior itself! Coming right along as you can see here, ALL thats seen in this pic is glued to stay! I have yet to finish up some fine detail painting to the drivers side door panel, to install it and I got a BUNCH of fine detail painting for the dash.....The dash is gonna be the most difficult to get done as there is A LOT to be done to it, in an assortment of colors..... I'm currently finishing up "trim" work on the car body......BUT am about half afraid to touch it yet as its finicky stuff to be doing so...... Like always with me, MORE pics when I'm able!!! I made some SERIOUS progress on my '57 300...... The interior is DONE! Overhead view: Then you have somewhat from the front: Then from the "drivers" side: MORE to follow these short messages!!!!! ENJOY!
  22. SO, another update......WITH pictures again. I got to getting the exhaust on, Left off the front wheels till I had that all sorted out as that pipe was something else to build BUT, with the wheels off and the pipe now on, it was time to get the front suspension done! SO without further hesitation, heres the frame "stance" with all 4 wheels in place, to stay! A good side view...... A really good front corner shot.....showing the wheels really well! HOW LOW WILL SHE GO!!!!!???? The very front of the bumper supports just "touches" the popsicle stick! A overhead shot looking down onto the front and seeing the popsicle stick in place I think the little "rake" will look AWESOME when all said an done with, BUT not high enough to "see" the rear end up in the air, BUT I lowered the entire car and then gave it a slight rake stance........ The trunk lid and the rear quarter "fins" will keep the rear making contact to the ground upon "Take OFF" ENJOY as always more to come as I'm able!
  23. OK so you guys, remember me posting pictures of Long Ears, right? WELL here she is again: WELL as you know and have followed along with this build I said she was gonna provide me with some sort of "material" for in my '57 300 build..... I guess you can get to see that now...... Seen here, the fur was sheered off the rabbit AFTER she had a bath by my wife. THEN when it was dry to sheer it off I sheered it long enough to be able to trim it back as remember where this "fur" is right...BACK rear window! SO, upon doing the gluing I had to get the fur to stand as much straight up as I could which was done but tape! I allowed it to dry, check to see if it was solid and done it again I literally allowed glue to run from one side of the rear panel to the other till it made a NICE strong "base" to hold the fur.... kinda "damed up" if you will, once dry, I added in some color to the edges and the dam edge to blend in with the car interior colors..... I THINK I got in there pretty good, WHAT A PITA to do! I won't be doing this any time soon! BUT, I think it looks GREAT! Thee ole '57 300 is coming right along! MORE to come as I'm able and things are done! (as they're done in sub-like-assemblies)...... Enjoy!
  24. OK guys, a bit of an update. Not much of one, a few pictures, as you'll see, BUT I give you this: NOW I know, this isn't something normally posted here, BUT this pet rabbit of my family is supplying me some "supplies" for this build! I haven't gotten it completely done yet, BUT that will surface when its ready, I got some careful work yet to do to whats gonna become and reveal a "secret" to my '57 Chrysler 300 build! The rabbit? Her name is "Long Ears" after "Rabbit" on Whinnie the Pooh, as Tigger called Rabbit..... My Dad got my Daughter the rabbit for a gift (YES, we were looking to get her one at the time) when my Mom, my daughters grandmother passed away 5 years ago in April. Now that Dad is gone, and the rabbit is getting older, I thought this be a way to have part of something my Dad did to be in yet one more build. HOW is the question, BUT I am NOT going to leak that "secret" just yet.....You'll all see what this pet has supplied me with for this build! And NO the animal wasn't harmed at all for this to happen! I wouldn't do any sort of that to any animal, I am truly an animal lover so...... Figured this would get you all on the edge of your seats! SO, It took me a bit of procrastination to get to the way I was gonna run the exhaust, as there really is a couple ways BUT the most "logical" way, was to run it in an "upward" way, over the tops of the inner fender wells and then back down to the underside of the frame just in front of the firewall.......BUT, I wanted to keep this a "street" car......Meaning, it needed to keep its battery, and all the parts for the vacuum assist tank and hose's in place, under the hood, PLUS have all the heater hoses and such as well. Along with a windshield washer fluid tank as well.....Let me tell you, this thing has NO room for any more then what its got. PLUS, I had relocated the radiator forward from its stock location, to get it all to fit! SO with all that said......Here is how I DID IT to keep the street applications needed , under the hood! I EVEN went as far in detailing to make a exhaust expansion joint, they in real life look like they have braided wire in them and really, they do!!!! BUT this will take vibration, cut down noise, and not "rattle" when the engine is or would be running! And in difficult locations, to get around they use them extensively......... I know my Step-Son owns a exhaust shop and uses them in difficult locations for a "hard pipe" SO I took the Turbo exhaust "port" and shot it through the inner fender wells! THEN up and over the upper A frame, and then back over the frame rails, and into standard location to head to the mufflers! SOME niffty bend work I must say! The "Expansion joint" in the pipe is a splice too..... I had to bend 2 different pieces of the pipe to get it to the mufflers as all-in-one piece, I could NOT get it to go into the holes I drill so.....Looks GREAT tho, I have a little paint touch up on the pipe work but the body slips on and off without hitting the pipe or anything..... fun, Fun, FUN............ Ohhhhhh did I mention FUN!? HOW fun that pipework was....... I knew it be a PITA to do tho, but I had no choice either way! Now the inner fenders are part of the body, and got painted with it.....SO as you can see here, the "opening" between the added pipe and the valve covers.. this area is where the inner fender wells will slip between, and mount to the frame in the center of that "opening"..... An upside down view of the pipework.....See the cross member the transmission mounts too? That is the reason I could not bend the one length all in one, I could not "fish" it under that to get to the mufflers! BUT, that also gave me a reason to put in a couple of exhaust expansion joint details too. which are both seen well here! Thats all for now, MORE to come as I'm able! ALSO, this is ONE of those so-called "secrets" of this build.....HOW I was to run the exhaust to the mufflers, and keep it stock looking all at the same time..... ENJOY!
  25. OK so now how's 'bout a REAL picture update???? Shall we? ANYWAY, as you all know and have read (SOME giving me BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH for a worded update with no pictures) I shall keep those persons names un-named here.....LOL But to keep my intense painting going I HAD to leave it set for a bit and it still MUST "SET" for a time, I do NOT plan to go back over this work! So, with that said, it has to "cure" before I can proceed! BUT to your wondering minds, followed closely by your eyes, have a look at this! Notice, there is NO AIR CLEANER between the turbo feeder tubes leading to the Hillborn injectors! I've got this part made, just not "in-place" yet, as i have a LOT of details to add to this engine bay! See that "white" box on the inner fender? That is going to be a MSD ignition box.....Right next to the battery in this application! Which WILL be wired when I'm all said and done! A ways to go tho, so..... A bit of detail painting done to the firewall. I have a TON of vacuum hoses to run to things on the firewall as well as the inner fender that has the MSD ignition box on it. Plus this car, back in the day had so much vacuum ran things, it even had a tank for such!? WOW PLUS, I have to run the heater hoses to the engine for a supply and return line, (THAT ought to be a freakin BLAST!!!!) NOW notice whats "in-place"!!!!! That nice little K&N air cleaner, with "392 HEMI" on it, matching the rest of the colors on the engine and the car, for that matter! Also you'll see brake lines BUT in-order to do them, the car has to be mounted to the frame, as they, aren't gonna be easy to do! I have to say the little air cleaner looks pretty well at home here! I'm pleased with the out come of that! How sweet it is! So far, I'm a happy modeler, its coming out just as I planned in my head! HOWEVER, there still ARE a few "secrets" to be revealed, BUT..................... NOT YET! ENJOY More to come as I'm able!
