  1. Got a few more parts painted. The vinyl parts of the interior were shot with Krylon satin black. I’m pulling away from spray cans, but I still think this stuff does a good job of representing vinyl. But it takes forever to cure. Still plenty of time left. Once it does finally cure, I’m thinking of trying embossing powder out for carpet. Engine was shot with Scale Finishes Chevy engine orange. It’s snowing out now, and I don’t have plans, so I should get more parts in paint this weekend. Still don’t have an orange picked for the body. I have one coming from Splash that might work.
  2. Hey thanks for your interest! It’s on temporary hold. Here’s the story. I got it to the point where the only thing left was to install the bumpers. I had about a week to go before Christmas, when I realized I hadn’t even looked at them. As soon as I went to take them off the sprue, I knew I was in trouble. Terrible flash and really bad attachment points meant they were going to have to be stripped and rechromed. Fortunately, about this time, my dad called and said they didn’t want to do a gift exchange this year (he goes back and forth on that topic. Long story.). So that bought me time until his birthday this March. So currently I’m experimenting with different chrome finishes. The one I’m thinking will work (ultralumen) requires a 2K base, so I’ll order that this week and try it out. If I’m not happy, I’ll use Revell chrome. I should have it all wrapped up by the end of this month if all goes according to plan.👍
  3. I love the direction you're going with this one. Awesome concept!
  4. One more update for the day. The seats in this kit don’t have backs to them. Always looked unfinished to me, so this time around, that will be corrected. After the glue has fully cured, I’ll shape the inserts to conform to the seats.
  5. Got the body, hood, and engine in white primer now. I also did some test shots of a couple of shades of orange paint. I don’t have anything here that’s grabbing me, so next time I get to a hobby shop I’ll have to see what they have.
  6. Hit the junk shops today, and my wife found this. Still sealed.
  7. That’s going to be awesome! Looking forward to seeing it take shape.👍
  8. This morning I went shopping in my spare parts for some bits to get me closer to the box-art version of the Camaro. I have three early versions of this kit in my junkyard pile, along with many other parts from the same kit. What I was looking for was the dual carb intake manifold and headers from the orange car boxing. I’m not crazy about that turbo setup from the kit I’m using. Found those parts, along with the correct wheels. I may or may not use the wheels. I have some slots that I printed which would also look cool. I might also swap the tires for something printed, but the basic look will be in the same style. Just better looking than the kit tires. We’ll see later. Time to get busy!
  9. Wow, 12 entries already! And you guys are picking some great subjects. This should be an awesome race this year! Merry Christmas guys!
  10. I’d like to actually complete a build. Just one would be nice!😂
  11. Thank you! I found the box with the car I’m going for. I don’t normally do box-art builds, but I’ve thought this one was sexy since I first saw it in the late 70’s.
  12. Hey, I started this project a couple of weeks ago, so take a look at what I have done and let me know if this qualifies. I’m totally cool with it if you guys think it’s too far along. I’ll just pick something different if that’s the case. I’m planning a box-art build of the old Monogram ‘69 Camaro, doing the orange box art car (not pictured). Progress so far: most parts have been trimmed and cleaned up, ready for primer. Some parts have been shot with black primer already. NO final painting has been done yet. Thoughts?
  13. Getting really close to the finish line now…
  14. Joe, what’s happening brother! There’s quite a bit going on with those pipes. The pipes themselves are brass tubing and the mufflers are aluminum tubing. Brass was painted with Alclaad (I don’t remember what color but probably dark aluminum). The mufflers were left unfinished. Nothing looks more like metal than real metal.👍 The staining is a mix of clear Tamiya acrylic blue, red and orange, all blended together with Tamiya weathering powders. They aren’t perfect by any stretch, but for a first attempt, I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.
  15. Here are the latest progress updates on the ‘40 build. Getting closer to completion now.
  16. Droid rhymes with rhoid, which is something none of us want.
  17. Waves are a friendly thing to hand out as long as they aren’t one finger.
  18. Person to person makes communication much less ambiguous.
  19. Family comes first.
  20. Home, home on the range, where the deer and the antelope play…
  21. Wow, great selection.
  22. Got some flocking. I picked up the grey. Wish they had black…
  23. FINALLY got the exhaust done! Man I thought I’d never finish this step.
  24. Interesting. What section is that in? I wonder if they have embossing powder.?
