Ok thanks for the tip. Does that mess with the metallic?

Update! Got the body painted this morning, and it went on very nicely! I did a couple very light coats, and then built it up slowly from there. I'm thrilled with it at this stage. I'm going to let it set for a few days, then go at it with some very fine paper (carefully, that makes me a bit nervous haha) and then clear! Ferrari body painted by MBXPilot, on Flickr

I looked at both of those kits when I was there haha. They look nice! They seem to have decent prices on stuff too

Chevy Colorado question
MBXPilot replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see one just like that in my neighborhood all the time, and I've always wondered about it... Good to know! -
And here's a super crappy sample of the color I got. It's GM emerald green metallic. Matches the other green pretty well. 612 color sample by MBXPilot, on Flickr

Stopped by Hobby Town in Mt. Juliet today, WOW! Biggest one I've ever seen haha. I stocked up on some paint, and some Matchbox cars. They've really got a great selection of everything. Onto the Ferrari... Let's try this again. I spent a good hour sanding the paint down today, and re-priming it. And YES I warmed up the primer before hand and it went on beautifully. The bodywork isn't perfect, you can still see remnants of the old paint in a couple places. I'm not expecting perfection this time, I'm still learning the proper techniques for sanding and painting, but I'm happy enough for now! I've gotten a couple different greens now that I hope will match up fairly well to the original green that I painted the chassis with. Since I only painted the chassis with it, I'm not too worried about it matching perfectly, but we'll see how it goes from here... 612 in primer by MBXPilot, on Flickr[url=https://flic.kr/p/pcyJcV]

Yeah I'm broke most of the time so it'll just be a nosing around trip anyways haha. When I go to visit my hometown in Kentucky, there's an awesome hobby town there chocked full of stuff. I usually get home every few months at least, so I can get stuff there, just have to wait for it. I work at the state hangar, I'm an intern pilot for the state DOT. Doesn't pay, but I get all the free flight time I can handle, and that's just fine with me!!

Ford Escort RS1800

Awesome!! Old British Escorts are among some of my favorite cars. This is shaping up to be a great build for sure! I can tell already that your attention to detail is phenomenal -
Yeah I figured warm tap water would be enough. I'll experiment a little and see what happens. Yeah I miss the hobby town in murfreesboro!! I work at the nashville airport, and I don't think the mount juliet store is too far from there, so I'm gonna try to go after work one day and see what I can find. I like the tamiya paint and you can't find that stuff anywhere it seems.
-
Wow!! So it was molded in green and you just shot a clear coat over it? You could never tell. Looks great!
-
Gotcha, I love how many people there are here from middle tennessee! Cold paint was the issue for sure. I gave it a couple nice coats of primer beforehand. I'll try warming the paint tomorrow and give it a shot!
-
You know what? I bet the paint is cold. I live in a small apartment, the only heat is in the bedroom, heat doesn't get out into the main living room very well... So no doubt the paint was cold. Didn't even think of that. I hold it out the window to paint but always bring it back inside to cure.

Here's what the body looks like in green. It's going to have to be stripped and re-done, for two reasons. One, I applied the paint too thickly, and it's run in several places. The hood is just awful. I painted some diecast cars today, and they all ran as well. I guess it's too cold to paint still. Would that cause the paint to run? I painted a couple cars white today and they just look awful. And two, I ran out of green paint. Just great. I'm not in the mood to paint anymore today anyways lol 612 body by MBXPilot, on Flickr

Interior is actually just a Krylon gloss khaki tan with a model master flat clear on top. I don't think I thinned the clear properly, I think I need to do another coat. And no I didn't make it to the show. I was out of town seeing Tony Bennett in concert!
-
Yeah I was NOT ready to call painting season over yet! haha
-
I like that a lot!!! Very different and cool. And I'm not into Camaros or lowriders. The brown is gorgeous.
-
Haven't been able to paint the body yet. It's getting very cold here in Tennessee, and I have no means to paint indoors. I have to hang the body out of my small apartment window and paint that way haha. So I'm just going to have to wait until it warms up. It's calling for 60 degrees this weekend, and I've got it, as well as quite a few of my 1/64 scale projects ready to go! I'll post an update soon guys.

WIP BMW 320i 11/16/2014 Body Painted and Chassis/Engine Started.
MBXPilot replied to DynoMight's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very cool. The E21 is a cool car, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I had this kit as a kid, and all I can find now is the body haha. -
Beautiful car! I really love the color combo. That era of GM made some gorgeous cars.
-
What a beautiful color!! Well done sir, loving this build so far.
-
I've never been a fan of the Enzo, but I do love that color on it! Your detailing is fantastic.
-
Lots of folks from Tennessee looks like! I just flew into Cleveland the other day.

Well this is my first build thread on this forum, and my first plastic model kit built in a long time. I'm hoping it'll come out nicely! I'm sure enjoying building it, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. This is pretty much a stock box build, only changing a few of the chrome pieces that don't need to be chrome! I'm not sure if that falls under the box stock category or not. So here we go... Getting everything primed and painted.
