  1. Tamiya's 1993 issue was kicking around, so i built it, but took a bit of ribbing for it. Most of my friends would never even buy one of these, but it is an incredibly detailed kit. I added larger carbs and 1/32 scale Cadillac wheels and tires.
  2. Is that a faucet in the background??? For a moment I thought it was part of the truck and I could not imagine what it was supposed to be...
  3. It's a mystery because I have not had a spectacular idea for the bed...but the chassis and cab are totally done, and it may stay that way, (Like the factory offered bare chassis for the buyer to complete)) so I posted it here..The chassis detail is so nice I hate to cover it up anyway! The kit tank ended up on a White cabover....the wheels are Jada, tires are 1/16 scale AMT.
  4. It's done. If you have the July/August issue of Car Kulture deluxe, check page 46.
  5. I checked your photo pages...some diverse builds with unique ideas I may have to imitate!!!
  6. I use 1/16" solid core solder. (acid or resin core can cause problems) Drill the heads, glue in the solder, trim and shape, and add collectors from heat-shrink tubing...of course I haven't quite done all this yet, but it is simple and no kit headers look as good as home-made!
  7. I finished a '37 gasser, and saw an article in a magazine that had both a '37 and a 39 gasser...so i dug out this Monogram '39 lowrider kit, jacked it up, hopped it up, and soon it heads for paint.. The mill in AMT's 37 is a bit lame, but in the '39, Monogram dealt us a nicely detailed 427, replete with a much better-fitting and looking blower. i added a 1/20 scale injector (gassers need BIG injectors, right?) and made a scoop out of a little tool box. I still need to finish the exhaust and paint details but it is mostly done.
  8. You picked the oldest kit in the bunch. The date on the box is 1971, and I totally want to build this one to go with the AMT 280ZX Turbo and the Off-Road pickup...lately i buy them to build rather than collect...and then the finished ones collect dust, but that's what they do best.
  9. Here's a pile of kits and die cast stuff that I got at a swap meet. Drove over 300 miles there and back but man, was it worth the trip!!! If you can't name them all, I will edit in a list of them.
  10. I found them on line at Mike's Models...they have old rare decals that are impossible to find anywhere elase.
  11. Exactly as it happened! I only had one that a friend acquired from a novelty store far away from here...but the moment I saw it I knew I would be building another truck!
  12. I made the ten wheeler with sleeper into a six wheeler with a short cab, and a Mack tank. The cow is a Russian candy wrapper. I am waiting for a replacement cab so i can finish painting it...the tank is Pearl White as will be the cab when it arrives. i got a "short shot" unfortunately.
  13. I deleted this. needed more room for new photos.
  14. Finished this one today except for one small detail; the solder exhaust is not quite done. It has the Olds mill from a '40 willys, and '32 Vicky wheels, as well as the stock front axle from the Vicky.
  15. Like the '32 victoria, this old gal keeps popping up, thank God. I love it, quirks and all. here's the body. It will be joined to the chassis very soon. Testor's pearl yellow lacquer is exceptionally good paint. I substituted an Olds mill from a '40 Willys as the BB Chevy is a little lame on detail and parts fitment.
  16. I have loved this kit since it was first issued when i was very young.. And i loved building this 2015 issue. Obviously chopped and channelled, Buick engine, '53 Pickup wheels, and i used "Gloss Purple" enamel instead of lacquer, and the kit decals. People who are considering buying this kit but aren't sure, should. It has three sets of wheels and suspension parts you can see on the box bottom, if you look closely, and some parts aren't even on the instruction sheet.
  17. Here's my '53 Victoria I call "River Bottom". I am building another as a brand-new car to put beside this one.
  18. Man...that makes my feeble attempt at a Vicky seem a little weak! Nice detail on the red beast.
  19. I have finished up a lot of small details on this one...a great classic kit...tossed in a Buick mill, channel and chop, '53 pickup wheels and '25 T exhaust. Off to Paint soon! I changed the exhaust shortly after taking the first photo, and added headlights. "37 gasser in the background is also near paint soon.
  20. Lord! I was saying "WTF!!!" Blood? Guts? severed arms???WTF!!!!" until I saw the finished diorama...NOW it makes sense! And i can relate to your sense of humor...excellent.
  21. Corvairs! I LOVE 'Em! This is why I have the Chezoom "set", tow car, trailer and race car (Thanks to Rouns 2 for sending me extra decal sheets!), an altered using the Mustang chassis, and a convertible..plus at least a dozen Corvair-powered rods and a blown dragster....and i await delivery of yet another '69 so I can attempt a white-with-blue-stripes Yenko Stinger, inspired by a Jay Leno's garage episode on them posted here...but now, just look at that green goddess! Nice work and very inspiring. Go 'Vair! or go Nowhere
  22. Would you call that "repurposing" or "recycling"? I built one of these box-stock, and now I see i should have thought outside "the box"...very cool idea.
  23. That's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" not only for the hood sides. Nice work.
  24. This was amazing...thanks for posting the video...somehow i missed them all. fascinating story. All of them!
