  1. You must have caught me mid-edit! I had to make the pics smaller to get more on here.
  2. I have the instructions and 2 pics of the tires.
  3. And I can't load any more.
  4. I thought someone would like to see what is in the box. Since I usually wait for someone else to do this, I thought it was my turn.
  5. Check out: http://www.beforeblack.net/ All sorts of good info, including the one RED Grand National (not a clone, but a REAL RED prototype).
  6. I know this is an old topic, but I had to respond: Not true:
  7. Has anyone posted pictures yet, especially of the decals, and I just missed it?
  8. I really can't believe that guy sells ANYTHING, given his outrageous prices.
  9. Thanks for the tip! I almost bought one for just the parts you mention are missing, and would have been very disappointed!
  10. I didn't try the Del Rio parts, but when I had the "stock" Ranchero (grille isn't stock, and the door is not long enough as it is based off of the 4-door wagon instead of the 2-door like it should be), the new Revell parts didn't fit well at all. A lot of "finessing" would be necessary. Now, since I didn't have the Del Rio at the time, I can't say if the "stock" Ranchero parts will work with the wagon kit. I'm guessing the bed would be too long, for starters. But it IS easier to remove than to add plastic. Even if it could be done, I have enough to keep me busy until Revell puts a new one out, because it will have the new decals, and hopefully the Ranchero emblem on the tail gate (it's not on the original).
  11. That's a nice way of saying either "we are trying" or "Yes" without confirming or denying anything at all. I believe that this calls for more patience on my part. I'm not good at being patient.
  12. Those tire marks you speak of in your review are not unique to MPC. I have a Jo-Han Toronado windshield I could use as half of a mold to get a perfect resin tire if I needed to.
  13. JIM, You might be right about the resin thing. I bought a JF Station Wagon to go with the Revell 300, and what got advertised the next day? You guessed it. A Station Wagon. But I'm going to let you be the test subject on the "buy a resin body, then a plastic kit comes out" experiment. I've spent enough money being that guy. Nick, I, too, have other stuff to worry about in between. I was just wondering, because I saw a really cool Ranchero last night, and I had to ask. So I don't go buying resin bodies or cutting up station wagon bodies.
  14. I was afraid of this. I got my hopes up while Revell skipped AROUND the one body style I really wanted. Thanks for the replies. I'm guessing the Flintstone way may be the quickest way, if not the easiest.
  15. I was wondering, has anyone heard any news about Revell turning their 1957 Ford tooling to a Ranchero? I've got the sedan, I've got the wagon, and now, I want the Ranchero! (stock height, not the thing they put out years ago and then chopped. I want a new one)
  16. Thanks for pointing that out! And a very nice looking Toronado you have there!
  17. Inside, we find the 1971 kit is molded in white, while the 1972 kit is in ivory. The details on this kit are very nice. Typical Jo-Han for the era. The quality is basically what you would expect from a Jo-Han kit. The bodies are only different in that one has a vinyl roof, and the other doesn’t. I’m basing my model year designations on the promo kits I’ve found online. I could be off. The front bumper grilles are the only other differences I can find. I’ve only posted pictures from one kit here, because they are no different other than the bumper and the roof. I checked the dealer brochures for both 1971 and 1972 for the Toronado, and the interior details (dash layout, seat pattern, door panel pattern) are the same. I haven’t checked any pictures of the engine for detail differences there.
  18. There is nothing more beautiful than a ‘70s land yacht (except for the Maverick J). I thought since I had 2 DIFFERENT Toronado kits, I’d take some pictures and post them for you fine folks. The Boxes: The box top illustrations are similar in appearance, except for the diagonal stripes and the yellow TORONADO on the 1971 Kit. Those are the biggest giveaway. If you look only at the car for a quick glance, you can miss it. I did when I first saw them. I was too focused on the red, white and blue scheme of the car. The long side flaps are similar on one side (the drawing of the car coming around the bend) and the exact same on the other side (pic from dealer brochure). You have to look closely to see the small differences in the illustrations. First, the 1971 has no vinyl top. Second, on the drawing on the side flap of the car coming around the corner, you will also notice the different number of vertical dividers in the grilles on the bottom of the bumper (the '71 has more). The instructions are the exact same. Either someone substituted a different set before I got these, or Jo-Han never had them re-drawn to reflect the update.
  19. Do you remember WHICH month that article came out about the conversion? I don't have a subscription, and Hobbytown near me no longer carries any magazines at all. Thanks!
  20. Mike999, I don't want to burst your bubble, so take this as just some friendly information. Mac kits are BASIC. They are also very SQUARE, with not much fine detail. I have worked with Mac kits in 1/72 scale, I'm not saying you can't get something good out of this, and it helps that the original is lacking in fine detail as well. I'm just pointing this out so you don't expect a Revell kit (or even AMT), unless you are expecting one from 1960. That said, I will be buying one myself, because the ones I've built in the past at least fit well, are pretty complete detail-wise, and provide a very good base to start from. Here is a parts breakdown: http://www.mackits.cz/model-kits.php?akce=model&nazev=praga-an-beer-lorry&id=18&nas_jazyk=en Thanks for pointing out this kit!
  21. Well, if the US companies don't want my money, there are apparently foreign companies that DO! There is so much variety in the auto world, there is no reason to buy re-pops if they are always the same dang thing. (Möebius doesn't count. They are like Jo-Han, if they produce it, you buy it)
  22. fiatboy, here are the pics I promised you. I'm not the best photographer, but they should give you a good idea what you get inside. I forgot the '30 Packard had been started and stripped down, so the chrome parts were all wrapped in cling wrap to keep them from getting scratches. But they ARE chrome plated. I've only ever seen this Packard TWICE, once when I found out they made one (and missed the bidding), and then this one that I own.
