  1. The Monogram kit IS a V6a A 3.3 liter I believe. You are correct that the MPC kits have the 305 V8. Also available for the 1978 model year of the Monogram kit was a 3.8 liter V6 for California and a 350 V8. 1979 was the last year for the 350 in the El Camino (according to the dealer brochures). The Monogram inside door panels leave a LOT to be desired, that is for sure, but everything else is pretty well done.
  2. I don't think it is on his website yet, just eBay. Also, he makes an engine bay (from the 1969 Torino Cobra, if I'm not mistaken) that is just about as perfect for a Maverick/Comet as you can get. It WILL need trimming, as the Jo-Han kits aren't perfect chassis-wise, but if you are going whole hog, this is another part you will want to get.
  3. Missing Link does a stock hood for the Comet. I have one, and it is nice.
  4. I forgot about that one. But thinking back on it, I think I remember, I could be wrong, that the Fury and the Rambler wagon were cobbled together out of parts already produced, and that new decal sheets, and SOME custom wheel covers for the Rambler were made to go into the kits. Along with new boxes, of course. I do not remember if the Turbine car was also cobbled together from existing overrun/unsold parts or not. This was all a long time ago that I talked to Okey and got the info from his website. I DO remember him saying quite a bit of tooling was missing, and had been slowly "misplaced" since the original company had started having financial troubles. Now, the workers that might have ended up with the tooling may still have them, or they may have been turned into Buicks by now. Who knows. My thought is that most of the former glory that was Jo-Han is never going to come back. As to what showed up at the shows by Moebius, I cannot say. If the '59 Dodge DID, is it still missing the interior?
  5. From what I gathered from Okey Spaulding back when he bought the remaining Jo-Han tooling, the Maverick-specific stuff is gone. And might have been for years. I was so desperate to get some things from him, and they just didn't exist. The last time I bought a new Jo-Han Maverick kit was 1999/2000. They weren't easy to get, and they went fast. I have no word on the story about WHEN the Maverick stuff disappeared, just that it HAD disappeared. So it must have made it to about 2000. Apparently IMC (not Industro-Motive Corp from the '60s) had the tooling for the 1975 Cutlass and the 1959 Rambler, and Okey had the EZ Turbine car, '59 Rambler, (maybe) the '69 AMX and '69 Rambler, and the Mercury Comet, but that seems to be the limit on complete kits that could be sold. There have been rumors recently about someone having the 1959 Dodge tooling somewhere, but I haven't seen the tooling or heard of kits ever being produced. Not that I would be on the list to get the info, but that's my 2ยข.
  6. Do you have a scan/picture of the new decal sheet?
  7. And I would like to see the decal sheet, please!
  8. Just what I need! Thanks!
  9. Not even close on the AMT 62 Thunderbird. I checked. The details the Lincoln DOES have are accurate, but the 62 Tbird chassis looks nothing like it. Now I have a useles Tbird kit as I don't build anything after 1945 without a hardtop.
  10. Look on eBay's completed listings for "amt (1966,66) mercury" to see some open kits. I haven't seen any instruction sheets that were readable, but some of them have some good pictures of parts.
  11. Robberbaron, if there is no issue between the Countdown series and the one you posted a picture of, then you are right, that is when the Hurst mags disappeared. I don't think the 1966 EVER had a stock intake setup, though. The 1965 did. I don't know why the change was made. As a side note, someone elsewhere on the 'Net mentioned that the Park Lane isn't supposed to have the chrome strip across the tops of the fenders. That is for a different model (Monterrey?). I haven't looked that up yet.
  12. OK. And it appears that the mags came with the issue this new re-release replicates. Hopefully they are in the most recent release as well!
  13. I've seen an original 1966 issue, but not the 1969 annual. Are the mags still in the 1969 annual?
  14. This looks like a great little kit. Does anyone know if they will be coming out with a Lamborghini tractor?
  15. Thanks for all the kind words and good stories! I'd like to see the earlier ones back, too. I don't know if they were lost when the tooling was updated, or if they just made new tooling. I'm guessing they actually changed the tooling, and this would be the only one they could bring back?
  16. unclescott58, The picture I modeled it off of had no cherries that I could see. It was a bad picture, but nothing was on top. I couldn't see the interior, but it might have been inside.
  17. I'm betting you didn't see the humor right away, though?
  18. Finally finished. I had it started for a long time, and some pieces went missing. I bought a promo to replace said parts. Then, of course, they turned up after I finished.
  19. ICM makes a 1938 Opel Admiral Saloon in 1/24 with a multi-piece body. It's a beautiful car, and the kit is a complete kit. There are even some optional versions an enthusiastic and talented person could build using this kit as a start. I usually prefer a single piece body, but we won't see this car in any other form.
  20. I'm guessing the new kit will be a 1967-68 Cougar. I heard a quiet, inside rumor a while back that one was planned, and now I'm betting it is what is coming. If they start with a '68, they would only have to remove the side marker lights for a '67 body. Or, they can just do them in decals, and the only things that NEED to change are in the interior. But to go to a '69, they would need a new everything above the chassis, and AMTs '69 really only needs the inner fender wells and the dashboard fixed to be a really great model.
  21. Krylon makes an avocado green. I needed it for my Pinto interior to match the 1:1 I'm trying to replicate.
  22. Am I going to regret keeping my Maverick/Comet hoard after Sunday?
  23. No pictures of the chrome tree?
  24. Maybe I saw it because I am so DESPERATE for those to return? I'm just glad you turned over the tire long enough to see that!! Thanks for the unboxing video!
  25. I thought I saw BF Goodrich on one of the tires he shows, but he says there is no brand name. Did anyone else see that, or was I imagining it because I WANT there to be a brand name?
