Finished this a while ago but never got around to taking any pictures... Painted with nail polish and topped with 2K clear. The kit tail stripes wouldn't cooperate, so I dug these out of the decal collection. I like the white better than black. The recall wheels came from Airtraxx, the tires I think come from Modelhaus. I didn't deviate too far from box stock, this kit is so wrong on so many levels I figured it would look just fine as produced by MPC. I'm pretty happy with it, for what it is. Comments always welcome!

Everything I've ever bought from Ed has been top shelf. Everything.

All of Drag City's stuff is well done.

I'm using one of Drag City's nice resin bodies and a Revell 3 window coupe. Some scratch-building of the interior tub and related, but tonight's first mock-up looks pretty decent to me. This will have a set of Halibrands from R&M of M and Blackwell tires. Comments always welcome. VID_20230823_212822662.mp4

That's how I've done it, with an added coat of Future over the decal when dry, and then a shot of Dullcote.

Very nice! Love the added touch of the white walls. Your 1:1 is awesome!

Scale model building good for the brain
restoman replied to atomicholiday's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Same. But once my mid-teens hit and real cars came into my scene, those marks disappeared. In fact, entire classes disappeared, followed by school itself. -
I've had really good experiences with Drag City Casting, Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland, and Hart's Parts. All three have answered any questions i've asked over and above the initial order communication.

How do you keep your models clean?
restoman replied to redscampi's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
A few years ago, I bought a box of 100 clear food containers, the kind you find in your bakery or take-out place. I bought the box of them for $80, shipping included. The containers are great for smaller builds like a '32 Ford, or a Datsun truck, even a Volare fits in with some extra room. I also use them for the pile of rebuilders that I've picked up over the years, as well as the sorted-out tires, slicks, wide whites, red lines, etc that used to be in bags in a cabinet. I can see at a glance what is inside each one. I've got three glass curio cabinets, but they're not completely sealed, and I hate dusting, so between the actual display boxes and the food containers, I don't have to. All my cabinets are in the basement and I'm really the only one who sees them regularly. -
Yup, that's the decal sheet I used.

Very, very nice!

I haven't really decided. I'd like to stick with the kit chassis, but it's messy...

Big thumbs on a small keyboard... ? Good catch. I applied the decals and never noticed!

Harts Parts Resin
restoman replied to Michael Kröger's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You'll have no problems with stuff from Hart's. I've ordered a few times from him, and it all arrived within two weeks and was pretty good quality. -
I picked this up a few years ago as a built gluebomb. Stripped the brushed-on orange paint, fixed up the missing pieces around the headlight buckets, levelled out the many sink marks from the previous glue job, scribed some panel & reveal lines, and spliced in a section for the rear valence panel. Sprayed it in white base coat with a coat of 2k clear, and did the deck spoiler, chin spoiler and hood stripe in spray bomb red. The decals are from Mike's, if I recall correctly. They were the only set he had. The chassis is sitting in its' gluebomb glory, waiting its' turn for rehab. Might be a while before I get to it. I mainly wanted to get the body & decals done while the decals were relatively fresh. Comments always welcome.

That is some very nice work. I love it!

Slow going...but it's at the final assembly stage. The kit tail stripe wouldn't cooperate, so I went with a white stripe I found in the decal bin. I like it better than the black one. Comments always welcome.

We had to put our Dane, Otto, down in mid-December. The house just seemed so empty without him. The couch sure was! So, we found this little imp at a rescue a few hours from here. Ivy. A Dane/American Bulldog mix. 5 months old. Instantly, she became best buds with 10 month old Dottie. She's not sure about 11 year old Roscoe, but he's ok with that. A real snuggler. Nowhere near the high energy level of Dot, but she tries!

I've been scratch building the front drop axle, and was able to mock up the stance. Looks good to me. I swapped out the kit rear wheels for some of Drag City's very nice 16" Halibrands. They look far better, I think. I narrowed the rear axle as well. Once I'm done the front beam, I should be able to get everything painted and then start on assembly. Comments always welcome.
