  1. I'm with Harry here, I compete in events because it's hoped by me that I'll win something. Otherwise, I doubt I'd bother.
  2. I'm not clear on the negative humor part. Are you referring to sarcasm? I don't see a lot of that here, sarcasm that is.
  3. I think I had a plastic hand grenade that acted that way too.
  4. When I was a munchkin, around the fourth of July, they sold what were referred to as "cracker balls"; looked like paper M&M's. They stayed available for years until some toddlers were allowed to get a hold of them, and blew their teeth out by chewing on them.
  5. I believe mine was the latter, it made sort of a "clicking" noise when fired. (I blasted all the kids in my neighborhood, at one time or another.)
  6. I can't tell, my memory is too fuzzy. I just remember I thought it was cool, and meshed pretty well with all of my Army toys of the time, as I had gobs of Army stuff, including a plastic M-14 that I really enjoyed. I had a bazooka too, that as I recall, fired blue plastic rounds.
  7. Had one of these, but sold it some months back. After doing a kindness for a friend, he offered to grab me a model, so I chose this.
  8. That may well have been it, but it looks different from what I remember.
  9. Right, you can ignore/block individuals if you choose, and I've done this on another site, but not here yet, or as was the case here, I just turned off all signatures. I don't see any signatures at all, not even my own.
  10. One of the many reasons why I just went ahead and turned signatures off; being bombarded with the same images or bylines day after day, gets just a bit tiring.
  11. I had one of the old Monogram Raiders, and it was pretty cool, but that new bigger one, is awesome! I'll have one, eventually.
  12. I don't doubt that they're cool, Tom, and useful, it's just not in my budget at the moment.
  13. I had a fairly large motorized tank, though I've long since forgotten the manufacturer. I seem to recall that it sort of looked like an M48, M46 or possibly a Walker Bulldog. At least that's what I remember now, and that could be way off.
  14. Yesterday I intended to grill a mess of chops, but decided to wait until today instead. I left the lid off for the first time in years, as normally I keep it closed, so last night it rained like crazy, and my Weber is now filled with splattered gray ash goo.
  15. Yep, par for the course it seems. I ignore many build threads, especially if the subject has no interest to me personally. Sometimes the updates require no input. I mean, what am I supposed to say about yet another view of the engine, this time rotated 15°? (That's an extreme, and fictitious example, but I've been guilty of similar frivolous updates.) I find that if you ask for opinions/ assistance, you'll tend to usually get more feedback. Otherwise, many views, and few comments, seems to be the norm on many sites that I frequent. Something else to keep in mind, this is a very, very busy site, and with things changing so frequently, it can be hard to keep up. If I don't log on for a few days, the work in progress section can be three pages deep, and I just don't have the time or inclination to comment on them all, nor even a fraction of them.
  16. I try to avoid it as a rule, unless I'm offering a comparative view, or illustrating some other difference. Sometime it just makes sense to add a photo to the discussion, for various reasons, though I suspect that some do it as a means to just showcase their own stuff.
  17. Interesting. I couldn't join from my current IP, had to join from my sister's place, about fifteen miles from here.
  18. Just out of curiosity, why were you not able to access the site, and for how long?
  19. Right, I recall two of my Aunts that had an outhouse "down by the creek". It was very strange tromping out there at night, for a young boy that was used to indoor plumbing.
  20. I haven't built a motorcycle kit in about 40 years, the Revell Triumph,... I think.
  21. It is if you have a smart phone. I have no such capability on my phone, though my roommate does.
  22. I like them both. This reminds me, I've got to get one of the big Cylon Raider kits, they're just too cool.
  23. Yep, it's pretty wicked. I had a large vac kit of the War of the Worlds Martian space ship too, but sold it off. It was about 16" inches or so wide, at least as far as I recall.
  24. Sounds like a bowl of bad chili to me.
  25. Here's my Forbidden Planet C-57D kit. It's as big as a coffee table!
