I heard from Rock Auto that an exhaust part I need is back in stock, and that pleases me a bunch.

That's a great story, Ray.

Starsky and Huggy Bear - where are they now?
Roadrunner replied to vamach1's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) is the guy with the beard and glasses. -

Interesting. I have the JaPo book on the aircraft, but have never really looked at it closely. -
What do you drive?
Roadrunner replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My poor old car is a '95 Cougar XR7, which is down for repairs right now. Though it looked really great when I got in in '99, it's gone downhill a lot since then. Clear coat was almost entirely buffed off by an overzealous but well meaning friend, leaving the paint looking horrible, as is fairly typically seen on '95 Cougars and Thunderbirds. I've been terribly guilty of not doing routine maintenance/repairs myself, so car is in pretty sad shape right now. My hope is to get all the work finished by wintertime, passing inspection, and getting it licensed so I can start driving it again. -
Automobilia? Here's a start!
Roadrunner replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Shortly after I joined this site, I tried to trade these off for a kit or two, but nobody seemed interested. -
It's supposed to be a very nice kit too. I've seen several built up on another site, and they can look just great.

Sorry to stray off topic, folks, but I really like your Outer Limits avatar, Joe. I have no laptop, pad or cell phone to post from, but those are where the majority of weirdness seems to come from regarding posting issues. My PC and browser (Firefox), never gives me any problems with sites.

Automobilia? Here's a start!

It happens. I made four identical posts one day, one after the other. -

I have a few odds an ends that are auto related, should I post them on all three identical threads? -

I just had this same thing happen to me today (on a different forum). The guy said, "I hat a great time building this same kit", then posted a picture of his model. There was no real point to it at all, as far as I can see, other than to showcase his own work. -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
Roadrunner replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I had a similar situation not all that long ago. After loyal service to the same, uh,... person for 14 years, I was given a severance package and my walking papers. No fanfare, no celebration, just the end of the line. I haven't worked a day since then. -
Yep, I've ordered from Michael's before, using the 50% off coupon, but the savings are somewhat offset by the postage costs.

We have to routinely deal with that sort of issue on another forum I belong to. The site rules give a size limitation to signature area images, and a personal quote limitation as well. Offenders are sent a courteous note asking that they come into compliance with the stated rules (I see no such rules here on MCM), and if they do not comply within a reasonable period, we take matters into our own hands, and correct it for them. -

No problem. It's something I only resort to if there are several signatures that annoy me (and there were), so I turned them all off shortly after joining the site. Not a big deal really, as I still see and can read anything that interests me. -
Quite pretty, for sure.

Very nice indeed.

OK, this one makes me sad. I hate to see people deteriorate like this, but I suppose it's inevitable. Quite pretty in her day though.

Automotive (and other) toys from our childhood
Roadrunner replied to Harry P.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
While the concept may be the same, those are not what I'm referring to, specifically. My buddy gets some outrageously powerful stuff here for sale (he's been in both the wholesale and retail market here very heavily for years), so I'll check with him, he may have more specifics. One of my current favorites is Thunderking (25 shot block). They are very loud, and never, ever fail. Not cheap, but very impressive. I usually shoot off one or two blocks on new years eve. -

Yes, and they were more or less the equivalent of a a small firecracker. I loved 'em. -
An Open Letter...
Roadrunner replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We had an interesting experience here a few years back. An older (50's) gent, entered his son''s model (in absentia) in the junior category, and it won first place. It was discovered during the event, that he (the father) had actually built the model himself. When it was suggested that he relinquish the award, he threw a fit, claiming that the model was built for his son, so naturally should be entered in the junior category. After relinquishing the award, he proclaimed that we were all a bunch of idiots, and that he'd never return again. We were heartbroken.
