Tamiya Pennzoil Nissan Skyline R34

Thanks again David! I hope that they won't be back ordered too long. About how long did it take them to get to your door once you ordered them? -

Thanks for the heads up. I have been terrified of this kit and the Xanavi Skyline that I have due to the decals being so old. Shunko makes some awesome decals, I just got some for my TME Evo that I just finished up. When did yours fall apart? As soon as they hit water, or when you were applying a decal solution like mico sol? Also what seller did you get yours from in Hong Kong? I would like to buy a backup set...as I want to have this one finished up by January for a local show. -

So I did start on trying to get some of the carbon work tonight. Boy was this door panel a pain. Also the under panel was 2 separate decals, and doors were 4 pieces. The instructions only call for these to be black so I will be doing my best to carbon decal what I can. -

So here are some pics that I found online for reference. I will try to do as much of the carbon fiber stuff as I possibly can. I do know it will be very frustrating, lol. -

So yesterday I decanted the Tamiya Bare Metal Silver and sprayed the what seemed to be 1000 parts silver. I also got all of the black parts sprayed in Tamiya Semi Gloss black -
I have had this kit for years now and I have been dying to work up the nerve to try my hand at it. I will be trying to get as much detail as I can without going overboard and taking forever on it. I have done a good bit of research and can’t find many pics but what I have found has been very useful thus far. I have never built a race car or dealt with all these decals before so wish me luck on an old kit like this. The first couple of days was tedious work of cutting everything off of the sprue and sanding Off molding lines, and drilling tiny holes in each part to paint properly. Also, built and test fit the roll cage. The body was pretty good minus a couple of pretty serious mold lines, plus I had to fill the holes on the spoiler end pieces with superglue and keep sanding until it was smooth. As shown in my pic, all were smooth except one last stubborn one . I did get everything that is going to be silver or yellow primed in Tamiya White primer and everything that is to be black primed in Tamiya Gray Primer. Anyway, onto the pics.

No I decided to give it a little camber on the rear since those cars are setup from the factory with some for handling. They didn’t look right sitting straight up and down

Thank you! Thank you very much. This one tested my patience in certain areas, and it’s also my first time doing decals this large as well as the slight chassis weathering

Thanks Bill!

Thanks guys!!

Thank you!

Thank you very much. I was afraid the Tamiya Italian Red wouldn't look good and be too dark. I was really bummed that the Zero Paints color didn't work out.

Thank you very much, I am definitely glad to be finished to start on the next project. thank you!

Thank you very much. This is my first “big” decal job. I’ve never done one the length of the car then shot clear over it. My nerves were kind of shot afterwards ? Thank you! Not bad for an iphone 10 camera huh?

Tamiya Evo 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition Conversion

Officially finished with this one. It can be seen under glass -
Thank you David. I’m kind of glad I’m finished with it lol

Well I finally finished this one up. Despite all the troubles I had with Zero Paints and some fitment issues with the resin parts I’m pretty satisfied with it. It is a Mitsubishi Evo 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition. The kit is a 1:24 scale Tamiya Evo 6 with Hobby Design Tommi Makinen detail-up set. The body is primed with Tamiya White Primer, painted with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red- shot through the airbrush- then cleared with Zero Paints 2k Diamond Clear, and also has a Hobby Design Muffler.

Almost finished on this one. I got my decals for the spoiler yesterday so I was able to spray it and get those put on. Just have to install the top part of the wing on the spoiler when the glue dries on the car and I’ll be done. -

Thank you both very much. This build hasn't been bad, but the battles along the way (shotty paint, wheel dimensions, resin bumper fitment to chassis issues) have been super frustrating and almost enough to make me want to ditch it for a little bit and shove it to the side. I've got a really cool build, I hope, that I will be starting next that I've been itching to get started on. It's just sitting beside my workbench calling my name, lol. -

I managed to get the interior completed this evening. It is done with black embossing powder. I also got the exhaust heat discoloration completed and then installed the chassis onto the body and mounted the wheels. All that’s left is to get the spoiler painted and decals installed and install the mirrors and it’ll be done. -
