  1. I had intended to add one of those, but it was forgotten when I started gluing stuff on, lol. I'll add one on tonight. Thanks for the tip on the seatbelts. Never thought of using the Masking tape. I usually use masking tape for under hood mats.
  2. Thank you, James. I love things simple and clean. The rear drag radials would be the only hint of the monster lurking under the hood of this old Nova. I'm glad I changed out the wiring on the firewall and fenderwell. Looks much better now.
  3. Alright, update here, lol. I changed out the wires on the firewall and fenderwell with single strands from some automotive wire, as suggested by Richard and Mike. Looks much better now, you guys were right. I completed the dash and steering wheel to round out the interior. I have always wanted to put some magazine articles and things like that in the seat of my builds. So, as with the wiring, here is another new thing (to me) I am going to add for this build. What can I use for seatbelt material??? This is all this thing needs inside and it'll be much better after that. I decided to go with the redlines on the front tires, and keep the backs to look like the modern drag radials that they are. I have a complete rolling chassis now. All that is left to do is paint the body, do the detailing on it, and I'll be done What can I use for seatbelt material??? This is all this thing needs inside and it'll be much better after that.
  4. A high compression 425 horse big block needs a little thicker battery cables for the load it pulls when it has to crank. But I fixed the wires on the firewall and the fender well. Most definitely will use this size from now on... looks much better, thanks man! Fixed it Richard
  5. Kynar Wire's insulation is so thin, that removing it wouldn't net me anything I don't think? I'll try some this evening. Visually in person, (I think it is the light in this picture) the battery cables are nowhere near the size of the heater hoses..and it can be told. Only thing that I can see that doesn't look correct is the wires on the firewall, and drivers fenderwell. I'll take some of my gauged automotive wire in the garage and pull some strands out and correct that.
  6. Awesome build, love your weathering. What did you use??
  7. Thanks for the kind words James!
  8. Thanks Richard. I used your car as a reference for some of my wiring. Although I didn't go as crazy on it as you did, lol. This is my first attempt at wiring a car. The battery wire is 28awg Kynar Wire, and the electrical wire is 30awg Kynar Wire. The heater hose is the wire that comes from Detail Masters for Heater Hose. Not trying to be wise either, I love your build, but the heater hose on yours looks a tad large for scale? I definitely will search for some thinner wire before my next detailed build like this. I have to check some of my old stuff out at my Dad's and see if we have any old computer stuff, or headphones laying around. Dunno if I threw all of those away when the headphone jack screwed up or not, lol....wasn't building models at the time, so they were trash to me. My wife thinks I'm crazy for all of the old medicine bottles I have for truck wheel arches, lol. I had no luck finding any smaller wire for the wire on the firewall. I have no electronics in my house that I have junked, as we moved in and were just starting out, so everything is new, and looooong to be due to be trashed, lol.
  9. Small update, I managed to get my heater hoses cut to length and installed, as well as the front wheels on. So I decided to test fit for stance and see how all my wiring detail would look. All that is left is installing my radiator support, and to finish detailing my dash, and the complete chassis will be finished. Then paint the body Loving those wide rear drag radials.
  10. Thanks Dan, has been a good build so far. Thanks Nick! Thanks Ernesto! Thanks James.
  11. Thanks Dan. This kit has a lot going for it after you fix the mold lines/sink holes. Lol, man everyone's builds on here are awesome.
  12. So, I got my wheels sprayed and detailed last night. Just had to see what the rear wheels were going to look like in those big tires. Also got the engine installed and some more detailing done in the engine bay. All that is left to do is glue the interior tub to the chassis, and hook up my heater hoses, do some nut/bolt chassis detailing and put the front wheels on, and I'll have my rolling chassis. Light makes the wheels look goldish but they are light green metallic. Still have to hook up my heater hoses and install the radiator/radiator support and hoses.
  13. I managed to get a good bit done last night. I got the suspension and exhaust installed, and a little bit of detailing done on the chassis. Also got my windshield fluid bottle painted and the hose installed on it, as well as the door panels detailed and installed along with the seats. Still have to run battery cables Just a mock up, still have to glue it all together, run battery cables and heater hoses.
  14. Thanks David! This is my first time detailing to this extent. I'm glad I found a boat load of multi colored Kynar wire. Really hoping this will make a difference in all of my builds.
  15. I haven't uploaded any pics in a few days. I did get a little bit done over the weekend on Sunday after getting all decorated for Christmas on Saturday. Just some quick pics of the interior tub and firewall with some wiring, and the carpet flocked with embossing powder. This is my first wiring job like this, so please go easy on me, lol. The front of the wheel well wiring is hidden behind the radiator support and body when assembled. I plan on installing battery wires, windshield sprayer hose to the tank, and heater hoses as well. Motor is finished up and ready to install when the chassis is finished.
  16. Thanks Mike. Yes, it should be done by then. Got a good bit done this weekend that I'll post in a bit. Thanks Brian!
  17. I managed to get a good part of my parts that needed to be semi gloss black sprayed yesterday evening. I think I am going to spray the seats with some Matte Clear to knock some of the sheen off of them. I also managed to get my body, hood, and wheels primered, using Tamiya Gray Primer. I figured I'd have to work a little on my body work where the park lights go on the front fenders and rear quarters, but its not too much.
  18. Thank you, I haven't actually mocked up the front suspension yet. I plan on relocating the hole for spindle. This pic is just with the body sitting on the tire. Thanks man! I'm digging the big fat meats out back myself.
  19. Awesome looking build!
  20. Been away for about a week. Took a week off of work, thinking I'll get a lot done at the bench....well, life happens and the to do list at home got longer and longer, plus we took a trip to Charleston SC for a couple of days. Anywho, I was looking at the tiny tires on the back of this kit, and hated them. I wanted to go box stock, but that's not happening, lol. I remembered I had a couple of sets of MA's Resin Drag Radials in my stash, so I began the work on massaging the body and frame for these to fit. A lot of dremeling had to be done to the wheel wells on the body, and some work had to be done on the chassis to get them in as you will see in the pics. Size comparison of stock tires vs. the Drag Radials. This was just the beginning of what had to be thinned out on the right. the left is unchanged for comparison. Again, right side has some dremel work done in the wheel well of the frame to round it out, but more had to be done after this pic, just didn't get around to taking another one. Still have a lot of tweaking left to do but just wanted to get an idea of what I have. Yes, I know they are on wrong sides, lol...just test fitting. Here is the stance I expect Also got back from Charleston and found this in the mailbox
  21. Looks awesome man..wish I knew about the metal transfer emblems when I built mine, those look sweet!
  22. No problem David, I'm not going for everything exact...if that's the case, this car wouldn't be..there was no "COPO" Nova. Yenko's yes, COPO no. And you are correct, the brake booster and hood hinges are the most "over restored" items you see at car shows. And I am aware that the reference pics have to be taken with a grain of salt...as in pic #1, it has a Chevrolet Engine Red t-stat housing, not correct. Also, I'm not 100%,but I'm pretty sure the worm gear clamps on the hoses in this pic are also incorrect. That is why I am going with a bunch of pictures to try to find wiring/hose routing elements (for the provided equipment that is included with this kit) in these pics for my first build with this amount of detail. Thanks for following my build man. Everyone here on this forum is awesome and gives great support to every skill of builder on here.
  23. Lol, thanks Mike. Yes sir, they are in order. I found this website that has tons of useful info for a lot of year model Chevy Firing orders. http://www.mre-books.com/chevy/engines/firing_order.html
