  1. Correct, this came from Hobby Town USA this is the large bottle, it was 10 bucks
  2. Thank you very much! We hardly have any hobby shops here anymore in SC. They are few and far between. We have a local hotrod shop that is over SCMA (South Carolina Modelers Association) that opened a hobby shop in their showroom. But I make all of my purchases either there, online, or wait until we go see my wife's family in Connecticut. There are so many hobby shops up there it isn't even funny.
  3. Thanks Mike. It was a hard choice, lol. I was stuck between Gunmetal or Bronze. I was almost going to give up on bronze until my search led me to find the Duplicolor wheel paint bronze. Everything else was too dark or too light. This stuff is awesome. and it comes in a 12oz can with their awesome "fan" type spray nozzle. So the paint goes on super thin and evenly. I sat the can out on the deck in the sun for the whole afternoon to get it good and hot to raise the pressure inside. So it laid down very nicely when it came out.
  4. Yes, I got it from Hobbytown USA in Columbia SC, on our way home from Myrtle Beach, lol. They had a pretty good RC section, and I was walking through and happened to see it. I knew it would be perfect for small stuff that was too crazy to tape, or angles/shapes that would be impossible to tape. Glad I bought it now. and the bottle is pretty large for 10 bucks.
  5. I managed to get a good bit done last night. I finished all of my trim on the body, got the chassis black in the places that it needed to be, detailed the lug nuts on the wheels, got some panels blacked out and put behind the vents at the rear wheels, and got the lights installed. The panel lines still have to be done, but I plan on doing that when I get it all done so there won't be too much handling afterwards. The trim on the hatch, windshield, and back half of the chassis was masked with this stuff, which is freaking awesome by the way. There is no way I could have did the hatch curve with tape and a razor. And it's so much faster, just brush it on, wait to dry, and apply a second coat, then paint away. When the paint is dry, simply peel the fasmak off.
  6. Here are some great examples of the awesome clean lines Tamiya tape leaves on 2 other projects I did.
  7. Thank you! Thanks man! Yes, I am using Tamiya tape. Seems to be the only tape I can get that clean of a line with when I do trim paint such as that. Thank you. I wish I had some ScaleFinishes Clear for this job, but I made do with the TS13, which I have used in the past. For the Tamiya TS13 clear, I do several light coats (maybe 2-3 depending on what looks good) then I lay 2 heavy wet coats down (without running it.) Each coat I wait 12-15 minutes in between. Then wait a day or day and a half, and polish out. Didn't even have to wet sand, just used Tamiya's 3 step polish, and it was perfect.
  8. Awesome build, love the tow rig too.
  9. Well I managed to get a good bit done yesterday, but still a lot left to do. Should be all down hill from here. I got the Aoshima wheels ground down and pins made for the Tamiya kit, and also got them painted. I'm very pleased with the color choice here. I also got the major parts of the trim painted on the car, but I still have to tape up the hatch and windshield trim and get it painted. Same with the underbody, (not pictured) I have to tape up the back half and paint the gas tank and rear fender wells. I did manage to get all black parts sprayed as well while I was painting all of the trim, etc.
  10. Got the body all polished up last night. Now its time to start the detailing of all the trim and panel lines. I took a pic under a different type of light in my kitchen just to show what the color is. It's amazing how different it looks under different lighting. Just like the 1:1 Fiji blue
  11. Thanks. I also thought of trying some light coats of Alclad chrome to give it like a black chrome look.
  12. Thanks Mike. Thinking about doing dark bronze.
  13. The throttle cables look awesome! did you take the wire out of the detail master black wire casing and use the metal wire from hobby lobby in place of it?
  14. Finally got my wheels in from the seller on Ebay in Japan, and also got some paint laid down. Scale Finishes Fiji Blue with Tamiya TS13 clear. Still have to polish the body out. Also I can't decide on what color choice for my wheels, thinking gunmetal, or a dark bronze. They are molded in black, so this is just a mock up.
  15. Awesome build, love the color! Paint looks as smooth as glass.
  16. Nice build. Awesome kit as well, check out my build, and underglass on mine that I did a couple of months ago.
  17. I guess since I've built so many 1/24 Tamiya kits they scale doesn't bother me. Seems like when I get a 1/25th kit it's huge, lol. Yes these cars are a blast to drive. Imagine one with 600hp I hate that my old computer went down the crapper, that's where all my pics were of it. Lesson learned from that, I now put my stuff on external hard drives, lol.
  18. Same here, finally got mine on Friday night though, Sept. 30. Happy it finally got here. I understand being busy with work, as I average anywhere from 70-80hrs week....but an email stating what was going on would have been nice. Now lets see how long the 2nd order takes to get here, lol. No email or anything?
  19. Bringing it back from the dead, lol. Took this the other night.
  20. Thanks man. Lol, I hate having a messy work bench.
  21. Finally got a little time to get back to the bench with all the craziness that has been going on. Got the body all sanded/prepped for primer and my mirrors pinned. So yesterday morning I shot some primer on all the body colored parts. I also got in my first order from ScaleFinishes which included my bottle of Fiji Blue
  22. This looks sick already. That Chassis looks like it came for that kit.
