  1. Good evening everyone. I'm considering doing some conversations of a couple semi truck kits. There is a site that sells cabs made out of resin which I'm sure you all know about. My questions are about the Mack Superliner with sleeper, and the Mack 700 cabover with sleeper. What kits should I use as donors for chassis, and do they have glass (clear plastic) or do I have to come up with my own clear plastic for windows? Has anyone done conversions using either of these 2 cabs If so can you post pics of your completed models?
  2. Yeah I had my paint cans stored in my closet, they have been in there for years. I went to go get some out and use them only to find two of them empty with a sticky gum like substance at the bottom of the cans. What happened to cause this?
  3. After months of waiting and a lot of hard work. It's finally finished. The trailer is sensitive so I don't handle it much to take more pics. It was a rebuild of an older trailer I did couple years ago. I still need Trigger now I know.
  4. So I finally got back to work on my Snowman truck. The trailer is almost finished. The truck is barely started. I messed the decals on the hood up a bit. Trying to make repairs on that.
  5. Ok guys I just got some Smokey and The Bandit decals for my Snowman truck it the mail. My question is how exactly do I apply them to my truck/trailer. Are they water slide like the regular decals that come with all kits, or do I paste them on? I paid $40 for these and just don't want to mess them up.
  6. Here's a project I'm working on That's nearly done. Trying to make a rusty Chevelle. I used rubber cement to get the took on the body. And salt to get the hood done. I need to fade the doors and fenders but not sure how to go about it. I need a few more parts as well like the stock 454 intake and the master cylinder. I added a pic of the body before paint to show it was molded in white.
  7. It's going to be Snowman's truck. The decals are expensive now though.
  8. Here's my next project. Just got it started. Put on a coat of gray primer then did the black paint. If anyone can guess this is going to be a famous truck. It's alright with Fred. This one has been a long time coming and is dedicated to my older brother that passed away almost 6 years ago. It's from one of his favorite movies. Progress will be slow since specialty parts are pricey. I will post more pics as more progress is made.
  9. You could also try heating it lightly with a cigarette lighter. Then holding it in place. Just be careful and not get it to hot. If you're going to paint it the don't worry about it turning black where you put the flame. This is Risky but it does work. I've done it before many times.
  10. Wow! I mean just wow! That looks amazing.
  11. I'll participate. I have a trade going to get the parts I need for this, so I guess it with be my project. It's going to be a rusto mod.
  12. Got this one done last night. I included a picture of the unfinished trailer just to make the set complete. This is my last one or a while and my last one to be shiny. I'm going to start building my next ones with weather beaten looks. My next on will be the Autocar from the movie Over The Top.
  13. Trying something new to me here. The hood on this is my very first attempt at rusting. The car is an old build and is done with. It's the hood I'm working on. It's a resin hood and I first sprayed it with red oxide primer, then put salt on it, then sprayed it with brown paint. After that more salt was added before the coat of white paint. It's a start but the white paint is to glossy and doesn't match the car. I can't find flat white paint.
  14. Thanks for the comments. Here's the final finished truck and trailer. The Mack on the trailer is the original issue of the truck from the movie Convoy. It's in rough shape so I made it cargo for my KW and extendable trailer.
  15. And here it is. Just finished my Kenworth Conventional W-925. If anyone has any ideas on how I can add more detail to the engine let me know. I would like more detail on the engine.
  16. So here is my Mack Cruise Liner now fully completed.
  17. Here's another picture but it's not much better. There's also a picture of the can of paint that was used. It's Model Masters Burgundy Red.
  18. Here's a couple more pictures. The cab does raise but the engine doesn't look all that nice due to a couple parts that were missing in the kit.
  19. Hot on the heels of my Mack Cruise Liner Cabover comes my Kenworth Conventional W-925. I just got the body painted. I used one coat of primer. I wish I had better lighting to take better pictures but it is what it is.
  20. Nice truck. I think we have the same ideas. I've been building semis too for the past month. I just finished my Mack Cruise Liner. Gonna put a Wilson Livestock trailer behind it.
  21. I just now finished my Mack Cruise Liner Cabover. This was a tough kit. The instructions we not very helpful and most of the parts were not numbered on the trees. But it turned out pretty good. I did get the decals on upside down.
  22. Does anyone know of a place to get custom decals for a semi trailer model? Like if I wanted to put decals saying Kroger, Sundrop, or Walmart on the sides of my trailers? They don't necessarily have to say that. Just custom decals of real companies. I saw someone on here post pics of their finished builds and one trailer had Sharman Toilet Paper decals.
  23. Looking pretty good there. I have one of those same kits to build too. I'll get to it after I finish the Mack. In the meantime here's two of my older builds.
  24. Thanks. I used a rattle can of paint.
  25. Thanks guys for all the help. I've been at this hobby for 30 years and still learning new things. I finished this truck about a week ago. Plus another one. I just got the Mack painted this morning. I know the picture is a bit poor, but the Mack is near flawless painted.
