Excellent build!! I have always wanted to build one of those. I see them all of the time around here. You really captured this truck. -
1/16 Scale Peterbilt 359 Large Car
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to Kenny B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I know that I'm new to this forum and that my skills aren't the caliber of many of the great builders found here, so I don't have much to offer as far as technical help, but I just saw your Camaro for the first time. You have some major skills! My wife laughs at me when I have a major "painting set back". It happens to everyone to some degree. However, with the skills I saw displayed on the Camaro build, and this build to date, I'm sure that you will be able to find a solution to this problem. Just a word of encouragement from someone who admires your craftsmanship. -
I was a mechanic for over 20 years. I worked on a several real 69 Camaros. I don't think some of them looked as real as this one. This model is awesome! This makes me want to build a large scale model.

Dodge Bighorn

This is a resin conversion that is still available through RMR. The quality is not excellent, but in my experience resin rarely is. The quality is not bad either. It required the usual stuff. I would recommend this kit. The only real problem was that the dash was too wide to fit properly. I narrowed it and you can't tell it's been cut. I used the Ertl International 4300 kit for the chassis. I think it's about as close as you'll get. The Cummins engine is an AMT from the parts box. There is also a version that appears for sale on Ebay regularly. I think it is from Frontier Resin. I know nothing of the quality, but the pictures look petty good. It's listed as a 1980 model, but Bighorns were not made in 80. It has custom square headlights that I would personally have to remove. This company also sells the short hood prototype Bighorn as well. It looks good. Would like to try that one myself. -

Given the finished models that I have seen you complete so far, I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see this one finished. It is already amazing, but I thought that about all of your models before you finished them. They just got better! I'm sure this one will be no different. -

I know I'm the odd man, but I would like to see a 66 Plymouth Belvedere/ Satellite. This could be a variation of the 67 GTX. -

Guys thanks for all the comments and encouragement. This truck was inspired by my personal truck that I had back in the early 90's. Brand new Super Swampers actually had that flashing on the tread. We would spray Armorall on the entire underside of the truck along with the tires including the tread. It wasn't an off road vehicle by no means. That was before I had responsibilities though. -

The original Transtar kit (4070A) had them also. You can see them on the red and white cabover that I built under the heading post your cabovers. Thanks for all the comments, and encouragement. -

Sharp looking Freightliner Mark. That kit can be tricky, but you nailed it! -

Road Boss
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The front wheels, steering axel, seats, mirrors, quarter fenders, and 3406 Cat are from the snap Pete kit. Two Road Boss kits provided 2 battery box steps, 2 long tanks, and extra frame length. Sleeper is resin and is cut out for walk through. -

They look taller than they really are. They are scaled out at 13ft. high. -
An 8v-71 or 12v-71parts pack with turbo options and manifold options would be nice. Cummins parts pack with intake and exhaust options would be nice. Transmission parts pack including the Fuller, Spicer 4x4, and the transmission and the auxiliary transmission from the W900 would be nice. Wheel sets would be nice too. Again just wishing!
