Boy that was easy. Gotta new 10 mega-pixel camera loaned to me and WOW I think I may buy one of these. I just need a higher close up. This is only 5 times and I want 12. Anyhow, here's some pics of the "hatch" removed. Woulda done the doors today too, but had to download the software and play with the camera. Works great - I like it Whatta ya think Harry?? Here's some pic's -
OH MY GOSH This is just "TOO COOL" . I really wish I had this kind of imagination and creativity. This is just so "way outta the box" amazing. What a wonderfully "TWISTED" way of "BLOWIN OUR MINDS" with your skills and "SIDEWAY'S" thinking. I'd love to see you and ######'N"black (CB) get together on a build, and let your idea's run crazy. Non of us can help but watch this build - THIS NEEDS TO BE IN A MAGAZINE!!!! - dave

Yeah, yeah, yeah Hey, I got more than one life ya know Seriously though, gettin' a lot of spot putty laid down. Always looks pretty rough and "UGLY" before it get's better. Fitten' and fillin' gaps and gettin' things right, and mostly waitin for the filler to dry can take plenty "O" time. Sands and feather's really great when totally dry. PIC'S COMIN' SOON. -
Hey Mike This is a great choice and a great body style. I love the stance, wheels, engine, and all the details so far. If it were me, and you know how I'd build, I'd leave the body stock. A solid bright Yellow like on the late Corvette's would definetly get everyone's attention on a contest table. Don't know if you do rattle-cans or urethane's, or both, but i just got me a pint of bright yellow urethane yesterday, and with some red and black detailing on this, it would really "POP" . Again, to me, I would definetly open the doors and go for major detailing on the interior - dash and door panels. This is just IMHO, but I know whatever you do, it'll be beautiful - dave

Well, I got the paint today, and every since yesterday, I've come up with some idea's that I wanted to do on the '59 Shortened Chevy Sport Roadster - opening features mostly, the door's and the hatch, along with a few other things I'll add as I finish this. Split-window hatch has been removed, and is nearly ready for it's hinge. The doors are next tomorrow. More idea's for detailing, so the opening features, so details can be seen. More fun Got a better camera for pics, so will add them when I get used to all the features - dave -

Thanks guy's I decided to add a couple of small detail features to the body, I've been thinkin' about. Think it'll add that little xtra to help accentuate it's "Retro" statement. Harry's "Treatment" in a photo he posted here earlier in this thread , helped me decide on these additions. I'll share some update pic's in a few days after there done. All the best - dave -

Yes sir "Mr. Clay" Gotta go to the paint store tomorrow and have them mix me a pint of "Millinium Yellow" in single stage urethane. Then I'll shoot some pearl and the clear coat, and a little rubby, rubby, and some wax, and she should be ready for the interior , chassis, and details. Talk to you later - dave -
Well, here's the front fender's raised and pieced together using donor fender's, and ready for some serious body filler . Man I love this part. Grinding, shaping and sculpting - I was born for this . By the time it's done, no one will even suspect - VEWY, VEWY SEEKWATIVE

The "Close Couple Coupe" is a pretty rare ford production car. 306 were produced, according to ford history. Most of these cars went to Brazil in South America. I really like these "Whites and Wires" and I wanted to be able to see the "Whole Wheel" as opposed to "Chopping" it to get the car a little lower in the front. I decided to carefully raise a portion of the front fender's, and then use a donor set of fender's to fill everything in and reshape it all back to "Stock", sort of . I don't think most people would even notice. You can see the difference in the one pic and I'll do the same in a few minutes to the other side. It doesn't take that long. Probably an hour, including filler.

Hey Zedra (Other Screen-name ) Beautiful work. Makes my fingers hurt looking at all the taping it took to do this LOL Great start, and I'll be watchin' as you finish this one. All the best - dave

Hey john No colors settled on yet , but probably two toned. Body and fender's seperate color's. Maybe a kind of "Classy" go to the golf coarse car, with a fancy spare. I love spares and "Connie Kit's. Their so elegant to me. Anyway John, thanks for askin' and I'll talk at ya later - dave

Peter my friend The Caddy (Badillac II) is a "Short Lister", and is scheduled to be done sometime in the first 6 month's of this year, along with several other projects you've seen here.. Probably 2 - 3 weeks work to finish the " '58 Caddy" - LOL After that comes some new things for me. I have the pattern wood, a sugar pine called "Perfect Plank" from a local pattern supplier I've dealt with for years, and I have all my fiberglass supplies too. I am going to design and build a completely scratch-built project, not using any styrene or plastic kit part's. Bumpers, grill and whatever else is bright-work, will be scratch-built and then chromed. The interior and chassis and running gear will be the same - all from scratch using my lathe and milling machine, and other shop equipment and supplies, such as the leather skins that I use, and all custom mixed urethane paints that I'll mix. Been excited to do this for a coupla years now, so around july this year is when I'll step it up and try some brand new things for me, in my modeling I'm always pushing the envelope to see what I can accomplish - pretty fun . Anyway Peter, nice to hear from you - dave -

Hi Clay Thanks It'll most likely be a pearl yellow. I think this'll be a good color to go with the the body script decals, and some of the chrome retro trim pieces I have planned for it, as well as the interior color. Getting all the colors right, and choosing the right wheel/tire package all helps to achieve that "Just Right" gotcha factor that I enjoy in each build . Good to hear from you - dave -
Hi 'juergen' That's funny about being a "Robot - Worker". I have learned over the years that when you perfect each step of something you do, whether it's for work or fun, you can be pretty prolific, because you've become so familiar and so adept at using your tools, supplies and perfected talents, and the things you do routinely like painting or body work. I average between 15 and 25 finished builds per year - many contest winners (Brag, Brag ). I never sacrifice quality for time, and I never hurry - no point to it for me. The number of builds is just a result of my passion, love for the hobby, the way God blesses me - AND BEING RETIRED Got lot's of cool stuff planned for this year and 2010, as I'm usually about two years ahead in my building and planning, or am I behind . Thanks for the fun comment's - dave

Hey all Thought I'd better bring these two up to date here. Been playin' "roundy round", goin' from one car model to the next, gettin' stuff done, all at different stages until they all get pretty close to done, then I'll paint um. Here's the latest on the Cabriolet and the Close Couple Coupe'. I gotta split the hoods and add hinges on both, so we can all see the "Flatties" Hope you enjoy the pic - Dave

Well, Im getting closer to color. Got the hood hinge installed, all the body work finally done on both sides, and in final primer. For me I have to be in the right mood for painting, and it goes very quickly and without a "Hitch" , otherwise I end up with a mess and things don't work out at all. Here's some pic's. -
Hey Brian, this is a great topic I have two favorites really; The first is my scratch-built four-door street rod " '41 Hollywood Graham", that you see in my avatar. This was a build to challange myself to go where I had never been before in my modeling. A hand made body. Four door's that opened and closed, along with the hood and trunk opening. A full leather interior that was scratch-built, custom mixed paints, and two identical scratch-built chassis with over 800 pieces in each one. It took me month's to collect all the parts. Eventually I used part's from nearly 45 kit's, and a variety of over 85 after-market set's of photoetch, turned aluminum part's and so on. It took 8 pages to catalogue all the parts. Two years to build, 2000 parts and 2000 hours of work over a two year period. Lot's of two's. My second fav is my full blown lengthened, chopped, and sectioned '49 Merc custom, covered with three-tone candy over metalflake. Here's some pic's of both favorites

Ahhh Yesss Cruizen' and racin' back in the day . I think we all dodged some big bullits back then. Too crazy to know any better By the way -nice progress on the Charger. Great detailing and colors (I'm a color guy )

Hey Gary This is way soooo cooool. Love the '59 man . I gotta '58 that's in progress, with the "Chezoom roof". That roof seems to go with everything really well including your "KADDY", like George53 said. Got a coupla more Chezoom's stashed away, just in case I get another "Wild Hare" of an idea Here's mine
-
Great look man . Me too . I love the "Steelies" and the "Dropped top". Some Tamiya dark green with Testor's "Flattener" would look great with those wheels - IMHO

This is lookin very, very coo ;)l . Love the fender skirts man . We need an update with pic's.
