UUUUHH.........HUH??? Why would anyone compare anything to a diecast. I hope we're not saying here that diecast paint jobs are the new Standard, or there is such a thing as "Too Shiny" What is too shiny? Should I start using dulcoat on my metalflake . No make any sense to me . -
No kidding Bri It isn't very hard to recognise those "WHINNER'S" as everyone here calls them. Thank goodness there aren't many here, but those that do I just stay away from them like other's here do. I don't think the bad attitude is as much about modeling as is is the way they look at their life or maybe there lack of it. Half empty - half full ?? I'll probably hear about this Oh well

Hey Mike In regards to the pinstripe idea here's another thing to consider. I paint a lot of my own color seperation lines, but there's times when I want something that just does it for me that's different. For me I like as many tools in my "Arsenal of Weapons" as possible, and a few years ago I found this brand of Pinstripe tapes by LINE O TAPE at my LHS, that just works great. Lot's of colors available too. 1/64" and up to 3/16, maybe 1/4??. I just just use the 1/64th myself. Here's a few pics. I hope this may help you and maybe some of the other guy's. All the best - dave I think you can see the white 1/64th pinstipe on the body line of this '40. Very clean, and has stayed put after a year. Just clean the area real good with soap and water after polishing and it sticks great. The '34 in the background has the same tape on it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Same to you Daniel Merry Christmas - dave -
Yeah Harry, that area always gets hammered around Chicago and Detroit around George53's area. We're expecting 6 to 10 inches here Sat. night and Sun. morning. That's a lot for us. We've become more of a rain area for the winter the last 25 years or so, but seems like at least this year, we're returning to more of the snow and ice which most of us missed and really love. I still like snow ball fights By the way, the chicken noodle soup last night with hot home made bread with melty butter - YUM!!

Hey, this is really nice I love the colors and all the unique details and idea's. Beautiful build - dave

Well guy's, it's winter up here in Oregon. Just got over nearly 4" of snow and ice and got two more fronts comin' in, over the next week or so, and the weatherman say's it'll be a "WHITE CHRISTMAS", and I had all the ingrediants and like to cook, so seemed like the thing to do. House smells really great. All us guy's like to eat, so I thought I'd post a little somethin' different here, to go along with "Old man Winter". Got three to four pounds of chicken thighs cookin right now in a big dutch oven with about 4 quarts of water, some butter, some chicken boullion, fresh cut up onions, some fresh basil, and plenty of pepper. Grew up on spicy mexican food in SoCal in the 50's and 60's, so everything has to have a "BITE" to it. Even my homemade spagetti sauce has jalapina's and other spices. EEEHAH, man is it good. Makes ya sweat when ya eat it Had a girlfriend who's mama made the best homemade enchiladas Next cut up some fresh celery and carrots. After the chicken cooks about an hour, I de-bone it, and add the "Veggies" and cook about another hour on simmer. Taste and add a little more pepper . Near the end I cook up a big batch of noodles seperately for 10 minutes, and then combine everything. Make about 6 or 7 quartz. I get out my freezer containers and divide it into smaller batches for meals, and "good to go" Um um, cain't wait. Big 'ol chunks of chicken steamin' hot in a juicy broth, while your builden' models, and then a NAP - UM UM !! Timer just went off for de-boning the chicken, and it's done. GOTTA GO Notice my cat "BAXTER" - THE BAXY-BRAT, he likes chicken too - LOL I added a little "Tobasco" after all the ingrediants were blended for more flavor and a little "KICK", and OH MY GOSH IS THAT GOOD. Not too hot - JUST RIGHT - YUM!!

Foul language
E St. Kruiser50 replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi All I've seen this sort of topic come up several times on other thread's, and didn't get involved, but I decided to say something because I'm confused why this is still a topic being "Challanged" by some members here, almost like it's some kind of a God given right NOT to show "RESTRAINT" and "RESPECT" for other's here on this public forum. You understand this is my opinion, and may offend some of you, just like the language here at times does to other's. I have a feeling that most here who are guilty of foul language wouldn't talk like this in public, or in front of your kids or grand-kids, or your mother, at least I'd hope not, but because this is a faceless forum, and your family doesn't read this (Most of you don't post pics in your profile, and maybe now we all know why), maybe this is a way of being who you really are, instead of who you pretend to be. What a shame and disappointment that would be if it's true . Honestly guy's, is it really that hard to have clean thoughts and language when there's such a huge vocabulary? Not an insult, but honestly, why is it we think foul language, or something close to it, is necessary, anywhere, especially for those of us who are older and should be thinking about the the example we set. To me, it should be the same standard that we set for the "Sport World and their Athletes". Why any less for ourselves?? I'm not pointing fingers here and not judging anyone, and am speaking respectibly to you all, because I feel like we're all friends here, and we're all adult's ( Maybe that's part of the problem - we're really not acting like it??). There are always going to be children, friends and visitor's here, and how do I or anyone else approve of and recommend this site to others and their children, when some of you betray our trust "FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR OWN RIGHT'S", and for what some of you obviously think is funny and acceptable at the expense of other's. Why is it some here don't want to respect Gregg's wishe's, and appreciate what he want's to accomplish, that's clean, professional, and fun??? I don't think it's funny to hear people here push the limits of their language, to see how far they can go before they get their "HANDS SLAPPED" SO TO SPEAK, LIKE LITTLE KIDS TRYING TO FIND THEIR BOUNDRIES WITH THEIR FOLKS OR TEACHER'S. To me, it's great to have fun, just like a lot of us do here most of the time, but I don't think it should be done at the expense of other's. Really, I think all of us, including me, owe Gregg, this hobby, the children and the visitor's who come here more. The word "EUPHEMISM" means a word being used that is offensive or harsh, being substituted by the same kind of offensive or harsh word that is considered by some more "ACCEPTABLE", but means identically the same kind of trash. The intent and purpose to swear and be disrespectful is still as bad, and the lack of consideration for other's just as BLATANT. I think we can all do much better, and I think now is the time to put this behind us and encourage everyone here to make a better effort For me personally, I want this forum and this hobby to stay and grow in a positive direction, and I want to feel like I'm a healthy part of it's future, and purpose. I'm not perfect or even close to that myself, just like all the rest of us here, but I think together we could do a much better job "Cleaning up our act". HOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU??? I hope no one takes this as an attack, but as a personal challange for all of us, including myself, to do our part here together, and quite "Bickkering" over this amongst each other, and be more respectful to each other and to Gregg - dave -

Yeah, I will post a thread next year, as I have several that are closer to getting done. I don't like to get too spread out I love the style of this car. I started this about two years ago which is about average for me. Here's a "Family Photo" of about a dozen projects I'll be finishing in the next few years. The white '49 in the center is painted black now, and almost done. The '48 Lincoln is front right, and there are a couple of scratch-builds, and so on. Lots of varity and plenty of plans for more to come. '09 will be a fun year. Merry Christmas and God Bless - dave -

Florian, don't listen to George. He's off his medication . Like George said, welcome back . Actually, for as old as the kit is, to me it's pretty good. I have this one I've been workin' on for a while and I think It'll turn out pretty good. This is one of those "Older Kits" that ya just have to give it a little extra love and be patient, and it'll go together and be pretty pleasing. Here's a picture of my "ROCK" I'm workin' on George Tops "Lowered" a little, rear wheel wells opened up, hood, doors, and trunk opened to be hinged, and the front fenders lengthened into the doors. Notice the doors re-shaped. I didn't do what most do, to cut through the lengthened area, instead went around it for a little different treatment. They'll open "suicide. A few other little changes and some kinda drive-line, and the "Old Girl" will be ready to go. Here's a pic. Hope this is a bit of encouragement for ya - Dave -
Now George, ya know that's an old build. Even when it won 1st at the GSL, it never got a cover shot, article, or mag pics 'ceptin a "Baby" one , so can't be nearly as good as ya think. One of those "10 Footers" LOL . Got nothin' to prove I even won exceptin' an "IDDY BIDDY (Tiny Winny) TROPHY" . ME BAD . Wouldn't want my friend disappointed . Ya hav a real nice HOLLY-DAY yerself there George - your friend dave
