Customer Service @ AMT
Olderisbetter replied to Olderisbetter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Howard Thanks. I tried amt.com and that didn't work. Would you happen to have their address? Thanks. -
Does anyone know how to contact customer service at AMT? Email is preferred. Also any positive inquiries with AMT regarding defective parts? Thank you. Dennis

I want to follow this one.

@ChrisBcritter: I ordered some of these and they work perfectly. I drilled a .040 hole and I soldered paperclip wire for a bracket. Painted the inside of a small headlight lens with amber fingernail polish. Glued small size headlight lens in place using clear 5 min epoxy. looks great. Thanks.

White latex Glue
Olderisbetter replied to Olderisbetter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is the glue I am referring to. Most of the writing on the container is in Thai. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOA-Glue-Latex-Hygienic-Adhesive-Premium-Quality-General-Purpose-4-OZ-/182342857052 . It has the same smell and consistency as Elmer's Glue.It does work for installing windshields. Dries clear. It says nothing about PVA. Only says Hygienic Latex Adhesive. I have not found Elmer's Glue here in Thailand. Tacky Glue...I'll have to research that. Thanks for the replies. -
Using white latex adhesive to glue in windshields, must the paint be scraped off of the styrene or does the glue stick better to the paint (lacquer)?

Glueing Tires to Rims
Olderisbetter replied to Olderisbetter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I glue them or don't glue them they seem fine at first, but then after a few hours the tire peels off from the rim. Often this is when no backing plate is used at all.Like when a tire is mounted to a body as a spare like on a Jeep. I'll try the thick super glue again. -
I'm having trouble gluing tires to rims when not using original wheelbacks that do NOT match to the rim properly. What kind of glue do you guys use for that? Thanks.

This is the style I'm trying to make. https://picclick.com/VINTAGE-1940s-50s-STUDEBAKER-UNITY-4-FOG-LIGHTS-302265292037.html

thanks, i have done that once, but i need my spotlights too...lol.

I am looking or a way to make 40's-50's style fog lights from scratch. Outside of resin casting, has anyone done this? I need to make several sets, so scrounging through old stash isn't viable. Lenses aren't a problem. The housing is what I need. I was thinking maybe something in jewelry making might work. 1/24-1/25 scale. Any ideas? Thanks

Great detail. I did one of these as basic plain jane model. The knob on the dashboard is probably windshield wiper control. Double check.

Great looking cars there. I favor the 65 Caddy. Can you tell me who makes it. Thanks.

Love that Camaro SS. I bought a brand new one in 1967, but with a 350 engine...same color as your model. Great work, nice detail.

1/25 Jeep Gladiator
Olderisbetter replied to Casey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I'm not sure what year you are trying to replicate. But about 1968-71 J series had 350 Buick engines with a Turbo 400 and a Dana 20. Might consider that option. -
Thanks for all the replies. I will take them all under consideration and go from there.

I'm trying to repair this windshield frame on a Jeepster Commando. There are small chips broken off as I hope you can see in the pics. Since the windshield must mount flush on the reverse side, I am not able to get an epoxy to adhere, due to very small surface .area. I have tried 3 different types of epoxy, including JB Weld. Any suggestions please? Thanks
