  1. If possible, research the 1:1 car, or one similar. As stated above, coils can be mounted almost anywhere.
  2. Any tips/tricks for converting a stock interior with rear seat to a competition interior without seat? How about adding the inner wheel wells without cutting them off the chassis?
  3. Do most modelers keep at a project until finished, or have multiple projects working at once?
  4. Great detail! The first car I remember as a kid was a '54 Chevy 2-door in about that same color.
  5. Keep in mind too that it costs a LOT of money to produce a kit. The companies gamble that a certain model will sell. While a hardtop may sell well, a convertible might not. I would hope an official from a manufacturer would weigh in on this topic.
  6. I don't know which is more remarkable: the engine detailing, or the fact that you got your wife to participate in your hobby.
  7. Just finished. Started as a Rat Trap Vega and I added the Hoosier tires, brakes and wide-5 wheels. I chose the different paint scheme because I used to have a Vega GT, yellow with black stripe (good car except for the engine).
  8. Any tips on applying exhaust smudges to bodywork? I have not found a thread to match this.
  9. I did a 1970 Penske Trans Am Javelin. One of the best results I ever had.
  10. Unit body cars have the entire body (including the underside) the same color. Body/frame cars (and trucks) have the body all the same color and the frame black. Most suspension components are semi-gloss or gloss black from new.
  11. I just bought Revell's BRE Datsun 240Z. I built two during the '70s and hope to take advantage of the better resources available today.
  12. I just went through that exact situation. You have to count the time you are down after all the projects, kits and tools are packed, plus moving time, then the time to set up in your new location. This was almost three months for me. Bummer. But I did buy two new kits, a Hobbyco mat and a painting stand during that time
  13. A lot of work but looks great! You replicated the swoopy streamlined look that was so popular in the '30s.
  14. AMT and Revell were about it in the '60s. I am also glad to see the re-release of kits from the old days.
  15. I am returning to the hobby after decades of absence. There are so many more resources available now than 50 years ago!
  16. I have a new kit on order. I built one back in the '70s and it was pretty good. Detailed interior and engine with oil lines.
