  1. It seems to be popular.
  2. Maybe its time to turn to the dark side ?
  3. But we're talking about "before" you build it, before you open it, before you buy it.
  4. Box art builds are great on the older kits. I really like them. Especially the "side" art, the not often looked at pictures on the side of the box.
  5. Didn't stop them before .
  6. Needs a Flat Head Ford 60 V-8
  7. Hard to say. Can't think of any right off. Guess it would have to be a big "fail" or a really great surprise, thinking nothing much would come out of the box. Then again with all the hype in the model media it would seem hard to find something you weren't familiar with. Through the years one becomes wary of the "Palmer" type kits and is more prone to look the kit over very closely.
  8. 2014 Ford Fusion
  9. I grew up in England in the late fifty's early sixty's. My Dad drove a '54 Ford fordor sedan. Don't recall if it was a 6 or an 8. Upon our return to the states in 1961 he purchased a brand spanking new 1961 Ford Country Squire station wagon, black with a red interior. We picked it up in New Jersey and were on our way across country to our new home in Tucson Arizona. The new car had a six cylinder engine and NO air conditioner. Tucson in July 100 degrees + I always say it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Just sayin'
  10. 302 Chevrolet V-8 very nice. Got me thinking about this Weiand Manifold today.
  11. Ok, then let's apply it to a model kit.
  12. So you're standing in line to buy your new muscle car and the guy sez: " Just check off the engine you want. We're having a special today. Any engine you want, NO extra cost." and you'd check off the six cylinder ? Really ?
  13. Now that's Hot Rod History.
  14. Not me. But, I have, However built a bunch of "prepainted" kits.and "prepainted diecast" talk about a "slumpbuster" I have purchased a few "snaps" jut for parts. The Revell '34 Coupe comes to mind.
  15. and that is where the "prepainted" kits come in.
  16. Not questioning your comment, but I find it interesting that the Japanese love our "Rock and Roll / Hot Rod " culture. I.E. The Mooneyes company and many others.
  17. Seems to me the success or failure of this endeavor will be solely based on marketing, getting the word out to the potential market. Along these same lines the Make And Take programs could be more effective in an environment where there are more possible participants than say an adult oriented car / model show. Setting up at these venues pretty much guarantees a group of youngsters already exposed to the subject.
  18. Cool, fits right in.Great idea
