  1. Dirk, this is looking really cool. Nice rod taking shape, the section job looks great.
  2. Thanks for the compliments guys, I've done some more while I await some parts for the next one...
  3. I'll be workin on it quitely, but want to start applying what I learned durring this one to a fresh start. I'll post up what I finish on this as it happens. My main effort will go to either a 32 coupe, or a t-bucket.
  4. I would like to second that, this is my first as a dad... Clay, great name choice, my daughter is named Emelia, nice to see others going back to more traditional names as we did. She got me a box full of resin goodies for my first big day, so young and already knows the way to daddy's heart... To all , happy dads day.
  5. Getting closer and closer every day... still have lots to do, but I'm starting something new anyway, so for now it's going on the shelf to be finished at a later date...
  6. Thinking about putting in an order, but want to see if any one has dealt with them. Thanks, jeff
  7. Radio shack wrapping wire is a good one for plug wires. Comes in black, red ,white. super cheap...
  8. ######, I was second behind George for a few weeks in a row there, but I was slow today. SO, Harry would want to find a pic that we would think had to be real, so it's a model... BUT, He would know we would know that, so It's a real car... OR, Harry knows that we know that he knows that we know his trick. My head hurts! Also remember that Harry has dabled in the Pocher kits, perhaps something from that life? Oh by the way, I say REAL
  9. Retroguy, lead gave a near perfect explanation on this, I would add that if this is your first attempt at this that you start with channeling. Sectioning is complex, and really requires some level of skill with the saw. If you really want to try to section, Model Cars Mag just did a tutorial on sectioning the 50 ford vert last month, or the one before.
  10. LOL, that would be great... Got the engine wrapped up today, just needs the accessories and some little details. Getting close to done with this beast .
  11. Heres a final mock up of the intake, should be in paint soon...
  12. Heres what I got so far... Not sure how to do more to make it kooler. I wanted the letters to look gold leafed, and don't love the font. Also on the search for a better Kenny Howard flying Eyeball. The biggest thing is I want to lay a pinstripe around it so the logo sits on top of stripes, but can't figure out how to layer that way. This is the prototype, hopefully it will get a lot better...
  13. I have been working on trying to make up a fictional rod shop to put on some current and upcoming builds. I am working in Photoshop 7 and have no clue what I'm doing. I would love either help with how to work Photoshop, or help in making it by other artistic means. thanx, jeff
  14. Harry , these are too easy. Dig out some of the old SAF ones, man were those hard!!! I remember there were a few that I didn't even believe after you gave the answer. Deleting that thread was one of the dumbest... anyway, up the challenge for these guys would ya.
  15. Torino, thanks for the tip, thats exactly what I did. Todays work: I shortened the wheelbase considerably, and also shortened the bed. I cut down the gas tank to fit in the rails. I built the intake main manifold, RAM tubes, pre-heater, and heat riser tubes from the exhaust. Left to do on the intake is the carbs and carb flanges. Two per side each feeding 4cyl. Heres the most complete mock up, the only pieces made that are not shown here are the drop steering assembly and the battery, which I need to make a good looking mount for. thanks , Jeff
  16. This thing is too ugly to be a model. Oh too REAL
  17. I've been looking over my kit and everything looks great, but changes must be made... For one , that engine is way too small. It needs this in in there... That should be a good start . I'm robbing the R8 powerplant for what I think is the best audi ever. This will be the sleeper supreme. That will just leave the r10 tdi to be curbside, but worth it I think.
  18. Torino, that would be a cool build, don't like the grill on on that one, but the rest is art. My next build will be a 32 coupe with a Ferrari v12... I'm playing with MikeMc's suggestion of shortening the rear end. As I'm in no rush to finish thought I'd tear the rear crossmember out and see what it looked like. I'd like to hear some opinions here, I think it looks better closer to this: Any thoughts???
  19. Your not missing much... It's the same forum, with ALOT of ads. I mean a lot.
  20. I have been looking on e-bay for ever, but am unsure of what scale is right for me. I would like to have a system where I can get added cars down the line, and would like to avoid the silly upside down and up the wall stuff. I mostly have been looking at Carrerra, and scalextrix, but see aurora and others out there too. What is junk, and what is not. I would over time like to build a large track with overpasses and chicanes etc...
  21. Guy's, just go to Stevens International... They sell the Kustom Kolors line that wally eliminated. Never tried it, but stumbled across the fact that they are the new distributer for it a few months ago. They seem to have the entire line available. The link on the side of their site never seems to work, just type kustom kolor in their search box. You'll be styling ...
  22. Thanks Torino, I have stearted to work on a downdraft system since I had an idea of where to start on it. It will be much more hot rod than the stock aplication. It will be a 4 barrell carb, each feeding 4 cyl. The stock exhaust will probably stay, but the intake will be radically different than stock. Thanks for the suggestion on going a different route, your reply is one of the reasons I began to look at different options. I probably would have left it otherwise. I'll try to post a pic, if I get some of it done . I'm in the conceptual stage right now, hopefully I'll build some more today...
