  1. If you use the rubber right out of the bottle it will look a little brown. Check out the air box on this build, it's straight rubber, so maybe mixing with flat black would be the way to go. Let us know how that glue works out...
  2. Anton, you will not need a "spray painter" or an airbrush. What you do need is a couple cans of spray paint. And a can of spray primer. You can get these at the hardware store if you don't have access to a hobby shop. I use Krylon primer from the hardware store, works fine. Spray the paint from 8-12 inches away, moving the can across the whole surface, not from one spot. Practice on a piece of cardboard first. If you get drips, your using too much paint, or are too close. As for getting the red off, which you will need to do, I suggest Super Clean. This can be bought at a automotive store. Pour some in a container, that you will never use for anything else again, , And drop the enzo in. Wait a day, put on rubber gloves, and scrub the body with an old toothbrush. Wash in the sink with liquid soap, then lay down your new spray can finish. Good luck with your painting in the future. Jeff
  3. Looks like a great kit so far. Thanks for the detailed look at the build, seeing this I now know that I am looking for this one. Keep the updates coming...
  4. Yes... I've always loked that color combo. Every time I see the ad in a mag I think about doing one like it. Are you going to keep the rake?, I like it with this attitude. Deffinatly bring it down to the ground though. Nice chop by the way. See if your camera has a MACRO setting, sometimes a flower symbol, this will improve your shots alot. It will allow you to get very close and stay in focus. lookin forward to seeing more of this one.
  5. I think that the true meaning of the schwastika is pretty much a moot point in this case. To some it is a positive symbol, to others a negative one, but this model was made to promote the hatred that the Nazi's (not the germans) were propagating. The use of the symbol here is without a doubt innapropriate, and intended to recall the horrors of WWII. To see something like this, in my opinion, is an insult to all who lost family durring those terible times. I mean WTF, how insensitive can someone be. And a note, Jews were indeed not the only group targeted by Hitlers campaign, It was a smudge on the whole world's history, not just one religions... I think the question is not "is this real", but should be "why are promoting these ideals by making this a collectors item".
  6. I like the idea of a different carb set up, not sure how that work on a v16. Don't know a ton about engines, but did some looking around the internet, but only found pics of sidedraft carbs off the engines. Any idea how the setup would look? I would really like to modify the engine a little to give it more a hot rod look. Jeff
  7. Try quilting pins (the ones with the little color ball on them) for floor shifters, coulumn shifters, etc... Printers have some tiny little belts that can be used to do blowers with. Also keep an eye out for cheaper sources of styrene like: for sale signs, election lawn ads... Paper clips make nice bumperettes. This topic could go on forever, great stuff.
  8. I hear ya, lol. I think I got it worked out. Shortened the frame a little shorter than the original length, before the added peices. Tucked the back of the motor under the cowl. I think this fixes the awkwardness of the stretched look, what do you guys think. Keep it or keep trying, I'd rather not get into changing the rear around unless it's absolutly necessary. Jeff
  9. Darrell, I do agree, it's gotten a bit too long. I removed the frame extensions, and am working on a plan to get the tranny to sit in the cab a little further. This will create the space I need up front , but not add to the visual size. Thanks for the input, Without it I would have gone ahead with it and been disapointed at the end. I may end up scrapping the fuel tank in the bed and doing a radiator back there with cooling lines running to the engine, space is at a premium on this thing. Jeff
  10. Hey, thanks guy's, glad you like it so far. The idea started as a traditional style truckster, flattie, baby moons... I'm not really sure at what point it got rediculouse, probably when I chose a v-16 from a 31 caddy as the engine. The thing is almost half the truck . Today I decided that I needed to stretch the frame a little more to accomadate the engine. And heres the bed I made using tips from MikeMc. Jeff
  11. Stupid Question #1, you'll get alot from me. What is zap-a-gap...
  12. This is an ongoing (a year now) project of mine, and the first time posting on here. I frequent another board, but wanted to check out something new. This build is the first involving major mods, I've only been modeling around two and half years now. The frame is scratch built, the body was a ford flip front p/u, and the rest of the parts are from any number of donor kits. If I don't have it in a box, I have been trying to make it. Please be honest, I can take it. This is just a quick mock pick I took to see how it was looking. I have made a pitman arm, dropped steering arms, and a wooden bed that are not shown here.
