Regardless, if you go to the other build thread of the same kit you will see that chuck's is indeed missing a pillar. How accurate the existence of that post is I can not speak to.

Interior pretty much set, I still want to figure something cool for the dash though. I may foil the two pods on the dash and lightly scuff them to replicate a brushed aluminum, we'll see. First time trying Cranky's paper method, I think it came out acceptable? Let me know what you think... And one for fun showing the scratch grill in place as the car will sit.

Chuck, I think if you put a nice clear coat on there it could be a great color for this car. Your moving a whole lot faster than I am,lol.

Someone at scale auto forum tried this a few years back, can't remember the details but they were disappointed.

Well I scrapped the grill arrangement I showed earlier, something just wasn't doing for me. I tried a few things yesterday and came up with a solution that makes me much happier. I filed some sheet styrene down to fit the grill opening, painted it flat black so it would not really show on the finished build, and wrapped it in the mesh. This solved my problem of the mesh being so soft it was not holding it's shape without support. I will add small pin heads as "drawer pulls" when I can get to Michaels to pick some up. I was happy with it so I did the same for the rear panel opening. The finished and glued front panel this one the lights are just sitting there, not glued down yet. Here is the rear part, and then it in it's place. On to the interior next, I will be using Dr. Cranky's paper upholstery trick to put in patterned panels on the seats, white panel on black seats.

Chuck, it took me three years of watching auctions to get it at that price. I got lucky with an auction that ended on a Wednesday so it had less last minute bidders than normal. I am looking forwards to watching your build evolve as I work on mine. I don't blame you for scrapping the rear roll pan, it's pretty awful looking, lol.

Looks as though you got that body cleaned up pretty well. Are you going completely stock?
-
In my mind the only acceptable color on this one is black, and BMF. Going classy all the way.

Here is one we don't see enough of built up, Although there are 2 being done here now. This was one of my grail kits until I got lucky enough to grab one on e-bay. Better yet It was 100%, and un-started, and less than $50 shipped! I didn't want to go to crazy as I find it to already be a perfect design in terms of proportion. I did use the custom option front bumper/roll pan, but hated the rear custom option. That said, the stock rear bumper looked odd paired with the custom front. In the end I decided to attach the stock unit and file and sand until it was flush with the body sides, retaining the stock rear light set up. Pictures show the lowered stance, and front and rear treatments. The only parts so far that are not kit supplied are the tires and some mesh behind the front grill parts. I also have some custom plans for the interior involving cool 60's pattern inserts for the seats and aluminum inserts on the door panels.

Thanks everyone, it was fun to knock out a quicky and get back into it... Jon, I'm across the state from the NH side, along the Ny border. Rutland,Vt would be near me and I work at Killington.

I have not built a model in about two years and thought I would pull this box out and give it a try. It is a really nice kit and was fun to build right up till the final assembly. I must have buggered something along the assembly because I could not get the under tray to stay all the way up, oh well. I am still happy with my end result as I have only built about 18 models in my life. The color is Lime Time Pearl by House Of Kolor over white base. This took me a little over a week to do, Probably could have been better with more time taken. Thanks for looking, Jeff...

Revell merc re-chopped to a more aggresive look, extended front fenders and headlights, smoothed out the belt line, and added some side trim to create two tone. It also has lucas style headlights and 50's pontiac? bumpeerettes.

Ever since I was a kid I have loved Audi as a make, I have owned many and now have a A6 twin turbo with a 6 speed mannual. As no kits are available for the ones I have owned I thought I would build a the kit I do have but with a twist. The body and chassis are Tamiyas old Quattro coupe, and the rest that you see was hacked from the Revell R8 kit. Here is the basic idea... Wheels from the Opel Astra touring car... Gonna go with the "storm trooper"look, something about a white car with black rims looks tough to me. The R8 engine room is much narrower than the 87, so I am currently working on bridging the gaps.

Nate, the wheels and the front tires are from a Tamiya 66 Beetle kit. The tires are the perfect size for hot rod fronts, and the wheels fit the Revell 29 rat rod tires with little work. Here is mockup of the stance as it will sit, and the interior finished.

Got the exterior on this one wrapped up save a few touches with a black paint brush, next on to the interior which is just black now and needs foiling and details added. Here she is painted, foiled and in her final stance.

A little east coast flavored 5 window, channeled with NO chop... close up of pearl blue, meant to look like the 60's sparkle vinyl they used in customs.
-
It ended up taking me a few extra days to finish, but still a quick build by my standards... Just a simple black with flames hot rod, nothing mind blowing.

and I almost attended OSU and I love it too......... Weird!

Thanks guys... Voljeepx, your not kidding about it being hard to find a hobby shop, I use Mike's in Rutland but it's not like he keeps up with the current stuff. Not only that but it seems like I am the only one buying paint there, which means it will three more years before he orders any of the new Testors colors, as I'll have to deplete the older stuff first. I love it here, and hate it all at the same time. I have yet to meet another modeler in the area...

It is a Revell kit with a blown Chrysler from the AMT engine set, hairpins from the new 5w, wheels caps from Modelhaus, and tires from the Ala Kart. It still needs the taillights but I am waiting on them to be delivered as I lost one last week. A fellow member on TRaK was nice enough to send one my way... Here she is, color is Inca Gold under Dulcote.

Dave, I grew up thinking westchester was "upstate" ... lol. I think Newburgh would be too far, I'm actually in Vt. Glenns falls is real close to me though. I share the sentiment that Brian made, It seems as though the hobby is spread thin in these parts. Thanks for all the replies, Jeff

Bravo sir... It's about time some more of these start getting built. I really like the look you are going for with the full hood and semi stock grill, just perfect. I am working on my second truckster, and have planned two more after that.

Dave, I know that they are available as Polar Lights kits. Have not seen the t-180, but a google search for "mach 5 model kit" yielded lots of sellers around $15... Again that is for polar lights, have never seen a Jada one, but that's not to say it is not out there. Edit: It could be one of these, they show no scale. Just snap kit 4.5 inches long... http://www.jadaclub.com/index.php?cPath=379_385

LOL, I believe I have killed a few scale drivers with my screwy engineering... I don't call my fictitious rod shop "eyeball engineering" for nothing.

Completely changed the front end around today. I had gotten these Resin Quarter Elliptical springs and axel last year and never used them, so I thought it was time. I still will need to scratch up some split bones to finish it up. Also got some interior started and some minor changes to the rake and stance.
