Thanks Leon. You've really hit a homerun with this color, at least in my book. I'm trying to take my time and not rush. Hoping it will turn out better than I expect. Thanks again for the compliments guys. Chris

Hey Marc, yeah, done a few things. Lot more work going into them than I had first imagined. So far I have black chrome foil on the tailight buckets. I bought an x-acto swivel head knife so I could cut my BMF circles. I'll paint the big circle with clear red. The same for the small circles, with the colors. I think it will look pretty close. I'm using the red talights right now to do my "testing" for looks and sizes. I will be keeping the clear tails clear and have no intention of painting them at this point. I'll be using the BMF for the contrasts I want. As for the headlights I will be using Bob Downie's tutorial he posted on the Scale Auto forum some time back. As soon as I have something to show I'll definitely post it here, and other areas of the web. Thanks for asking. Chris

Completed: Lamborghini Murcielago
crispy replied to LT's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Glad to see you made it here too Leon. Again, that is a beautiful Lamborghini. I really need to get my Gallardo done. Since using your paints, it is all I want to do now, paint hte bodies. Something I used to dread. Anyway, glad to see you here! Chris -

Let me tell you something Billy. It really jogged my memory as a kid, sitting down with my Dad (he died in 83) and watching races with that car running around the track. The paint scheme of all things is what did it. You jogged a good memory my friend, a good one. Thanks. And, Finish it! Chris -
Thanks Bill, That really boostsmy self esteem! Coming from such a tremendous builder as yourself. Anyway, I too thought it was close to DSM, but not even! I have the Brazen Orange Metallic and the Daytona Sunset Metallic and the shades are way different. I was really surprised myself. Brazen Orange has much more bronze/copper color to it whereas the DSM has more red to it. At least that is how they look in the bottles side by side. Chris

Just a small update: Finally got my version of an oil dipstick tube worked out. The manifolds aren't glued on and detailed yet, but to make the dipstick look better I "snapped" them in. You can also see the fuel rail crossover on top. I used a very small brass wire to do that as well as brass wire to make the dipstick tube. I then cut a piece of wire insulation painted it yellow and slid it over the wire. The handle was a piece of evergreen tube I sliced as thin as I could get and painted it yellow as well. Not sure if it would be worth doing the plug wires, but I've gone this far and have the stuff so I think I'm just going to do it. The engine is far from done, but I love mocking up these things. Their are a couple more engine shots at my Fotki GTO site. Chris

As everyone here mentioned, I too was hoping the cruise would stay their. I enjoyed it their and look forward to it. To be quite honest I really didn't think it would have fit here as well. Now, as for the new spring thaw dustoff cruise/show here, YES, that would be great! I also like the Chip Tooth award idea. Chris

Projects that are on the to do list
crispy replied to Tuffy's Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, I'm looking forward to these two for sure: Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT (I love this thing) Tamiya Nissan Skyline NISMO R34 GT-R Z-Tune with all the p.e. Plus trying to finish the kits I showed in stalled out progress thread. Chris -
Charlie, that looks great. I bought this kit when it was first out and was really dissapointed that it didn't come with the decals you needed to finish it off right. I eventually sold it. Yours is excellent. Chris

Daniel, I don't know you that well, but I learned BIOP pretty quickly and also the T-bolt story. YOU? Appalled??? LOL Anyway, here is what I have stalled out on: Revell Mustang Fujimi Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII Ralli Art Street Version Fujimi Lamborghini Gallardo AMT Toyota Supra F&F Fujimi Porsche 917K Fujimi Ferrari 550 Maranello I'm slowly whittling away on the GTO. Had to gather up some parts to make my dipstick tube and handle. Then again, the heat takes a lot out of me too. Chris -
Irvin, that looks great! Nice to see the body as something else. Looking Good! Chris

ALMS racing

Ray, I absolutely love the third pic of "setting sun" AWESOME! Setting sun, lights of a ALMS car hitting the corner. Perfect man, just perfect! Chris -
Hey Tom, My son and I were looking at your picture in someone else's album and he thought it looked like a TVR!!! LOL, Had you painted it in that chroma style paint he woul have sweared it was. An up close better shot of the car told him otherwise. You might be onto some styling cue with the TVR's and Vette's! It looks great and the wheels set it off. Chris

Wal-mart kits, that's funny stuff, but yes I agree...LOL Chris

Ooooooooh, shiny! Yeloow looks a little deeper now. Hurry back home! I'm still debating on whether to polish my GTO or not. It came out so well and "looks scale" shiny to me. I'll hold off until I see the rest of your vette. I should just do it anyway. Chris
