This would be sweet with white walls (a set of white lines would be best) and some Vista hub caps. Low and all flaked out.
-
That is sweet. Is that a Xmod EVO chassis?

There is a little bit of a gap around the rear fenders. I think some sanding and filing will solve that problem. My kit is not with out it's issues. The mold lines are a pain to get removed and the firewall doesn't fit well.

Last night I made a major break through on this build. The Automatic Transmission was really bugging me. To my best effort, I could not get a positive ID on what it was exactly. it had the rectangular tranny pan like a 700r4, and the length of a turbo 350. Well, I solved that problem by cutting the automatic off, and replacing it with a 4 speed. This meant I need to squeeze a third petal in the small foot well. Nobody will be driving this thing so the petals being so close won't matter. I added a arm rest to the new door panels, dug up a stock style steering column and a 66 mustang steering wheel. I found a large round air cleaner ans a "flex" fan for the engine. Enough talk, on with the pictures.

After the disappointing response to my 1:32 scale 34 Ford. It took me a few days to get back to this one. I'm on to the interior. After trying to file and fill the passenger side door panel unsuccessfully, I decided to scratch the door panels from sheet styrene. I drilled two holes to fit the window and door handles from a failed Revell 37 ford Panel delivery project, that I have been scavenging for parts. (Sorry for the bad picture) I narrowed the bench seat from the Revell 50 Ford F-1. I added the shifter from the same Revell 37 ford Panel delivery that donated it's interior door handles. You can see the parts to the new passenger side door panel in the back ground of the pic. Still a lot of work to do to get this thing finished.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm a little disappointed in the view to reply ratio, it is not just this forum. Is it really that bad? Is there is no love for the small scale stuff? Old School hot rods? I just don't know. Even on my home Forum, of TRaK, I have gotten very few replies. I have the Lindberg 1/32 36 Ford roadster I planed to build as a tail dragger, as well, but I don't think I will be posting it any where, online.

She is now on the shelf.

This was a very fun little Quick build. I used nothing but brush paints and a side from the wheels, nothing but what came in the box. I think it turned out quite well, but I will let you be the judge. These last two are just for fun. I hope you like it.

she is done, this pic is a teaser before she was totally finished, I'll take better pics in the morning with better light.

I picked up this kit and a 36 Ford roadster, for 5 buck each. The kits are a little crude, by today's standards. There is no chrome in the kit. The body is not accurate to the 1:1. The body on this one is three pieces with a separate two part hood and grill. The chassis has the fenders molded to it. As well as the lower engine, rear axle and exhaust being molded to the chassis. The Front axle and "wishbone" are both separate. The Wire spoke wheels are two pieces with the rim and tire molded together, they attach with plastic axles. The Shifter, hand brake, steering wheel, headlights, tail lights, horns and bumpers are separate. The Dash and package shelf. are also separate. The seat is a pleated bench molded to the floor, that has the petals and shifter boot molded in. The "glass" has separate the windshield, rear window, the headlights, and the neatest thing, the side windows are rolled haft way down. OK, on to my build. First thing I did was cut off the fenders. This constituted channeling the body. the body sides required a bit of tweaking to get them to line up with the top part. Next I worked on lowering the front. i squished down the spring and drilled new mounting holes in the wheel backing plates to get the wheels to mount higher on the axle. I'm swapping the wire wheels for the "artillery" wheels in the 36 roadster kit. Now, on to the pics. The Chassis with wishbone and modified axle the seat and floor, with the the two different wheels. I will be using the wheels on the right The front of the body and Chassis with the front suspension installed. The hood and grill installed on the body/frame. The body mocked up. Side by side compare with a 1:25 scale 32 Ford 5 window.

Jody. That is what I'm doing, good old Evergreen #166, .080 x .125 strip. I glued a strip to the bottom of the chassis, then added two pieces of the same strip with a 45 degree angle to the inside of the frame. I'm going to file the ends of the bottom strip to make it look more factory. I also had to file the bottom of the engine balancer until the engine fit down on the motor mounts, in my case the pulleys and fan belt did not need alteration. To get it lower in the front I filed down the top of the spring. If you don't want to use the strip, try a C channel, or cut a cross-member from a donor Chassis(like the revell 40 or 48 fords). Oh, I almost forgot. Jody ask yourself, "who is going to see the underside?" If the answer is not many, I would not worry to much about using the strip.
-
I'm glad you guys are liking this build. Jody, I'd be happy to help. I'll take some pics later. I still have some fine tuning to do to the cross-member. Bernard, the Drop axle was in the coupe kit, but I had to use evergreen strip styrene to build a cross-member.

I got this for kit Christmas. My original plan was to build it box stock but as I looked through the parts in the box, I noticed many neat parts, like a front drop axle, and suspension, but no cross-member. A sweet set of Cragar S/S wheels, a set of "stock" running boards, and a carburetor set up for the engine. Just to name a few. Chassis: I dug up a Quick Change rear axle from AMT's "Early Modified" series, a transverse leaf spring from a failed 37 Ford Panel Delivery project, some parts box Ladder bars, and scratch build a cross-member. I assembled the drop axle front suspension, to figure out where the scratch built cross-member should go. I also added a piece of strip styrene to mount a master cylinder to on the frame. the engine is going to get a pair of finned valve covers, a manual fan, and A/C delete. I'm going to swap the air cleaner too, but I have not found a suitable one yet. The interior: I'm swapping the seat for a bench, hopefully from the 50 f-1, if it fits. I'm going to smooth the door panels, they where rather plain on the stock 37's anyway. The steering wheel and column will be replaced with a vintage style wheel, and none tilt/shift column. The petals will be a round "stock" type brake and a moon foot type gas. The shifter will be a moved to the floor using the one from the 50 F-1. The Body: I have cut the rear valance from the body and fitted it to the fender unit, so it can be painted as a unit. The kit had a hood ornament I'm going to use. The bumpers will be left off as well. With the master cylinder move to the frame, I'm going to smooth the firewall. There are small round chrome side view mirrors in the kit that are also going to get used. Well, enough babbling, on to the pics.

I never intended to make you leave, Bluesman Mark. I'm not know how much of a roll I played in you leaving but I know I was the instigator. I came here to get away from the rivet counters on SA forum, as many have. My builds have never been well liked here. I don't use aftermarket parts or do highly detailed builds. I will never win any contests. I don't expect that to change. I keep posting, as should you. I may have seen insult when they where not intended to be, but that is not the point. There was harm done, and I apologize. I'll let you take the next step.

If you feel that is the best choice, I have nothing against you. I just feel your comments and some other people's too) belittled how I am building, I pointed out what comments,(even if you did not mean it the way I interrupted them.) like you said. I'm going to take my premature ejaculation builds and stop posting them here, as I see little to no interest in them. I will continue to be building them, but not post them here.
-
This statement explains exactly why I'm feeling hostility to this style of build. As for blocking Bluesman's posts, I'm not going to do that. I feel he is just the scape goat in this case. I don't go of the handle very often, but I will not take back what I said, I'm generally very respectful, as Dub and SD know. I'm going to wait to see how this turns out, but I think I'm done beating a dead horse, though I think Bluesman had been doing that long before I got in to explain what and why there are 48 and 96 hour build, as asked by the original poster.
-
I'm going to post several pictures of my "quick" builds and links to their Photobucket albums. http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/b...d%205%20window/ http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/b...0mild%20Kustom/ http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/b...o81/41%20Chevy/ http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/beardo81/300c/ http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/b...%20tow%20truck/ You tell me if they are Junk.

I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I have something I need to say. Bluesman Mark: Is this thread about you? Are you trying to force your opinion? It seems that way with 4 posts saying you can't build a anything quick and that it is no fun trying to meet a deadline. You keep saying you are not bashing this style of build, but you have not once said anything that is not against it. As far as I have read in the initial post the Question was what are 48 and 96 hour builds and why do people do them, not why people don't build that way. Of 25 posts only 5 had anything positive, all the other where "I can't build that way and I don't understand why somebody would do it that way". I thought this was an open minded forum? from this thread, I feel a lot of hostility toward, these kind of builds. I posted my latest 96 hour build, in the "on the bench" section, just before this thread opened. A 41 ford Woody. I feel that that build sparked this. I would add that it was not finished in 96 hours and may never be finished, but at least I tried.
-
I took over as Bob had too much on his plate running his web site/forum. It is not some thing everybody can do, but is a lot of fun. Of the 6 builds I finished this year 5 are these "quick" builds. The Key to getting it done in a short time, using as much of the parts from the box as possible, having all "extra" parts on hand, planning every mod and change before hand. Then it is just a matter of doing what you want to get everything to fit, painted and assembled.
-
I don't think I'll get my woody done, in the time. It will be done before the new year, but not today. To many family obligations.

Allen, I found the Paxton supercharger in the AMT 57 Ford Fairlane, It is a rare factory option, Ford put on a handful of t-birds to run speed trials on Daytona breach in 57. CP, 96 hour builds are not hard, you just need to have some time off, and to remember the K.I.S.S. rule. Keep It Simple Stupid I've been working at my skills in small steps. I have worked myself up from AMT's 32 5 window deuce, in June to a AMT 55 Bel air, in July I've only missed the one in August, for reasons out of my control. to a Revell 41 Chevy pickup, in September To a AMT 57 Chrysler 300c, in October And finally, a Lindberg 34 Ford pickup, in November.
-
The progress has been slow. Tomorrow I'll get some paint on him. I decided that the exhaust from the amt 32 5 window deuce, would work well. they sit a little low, but once i glue them to the engine and chassis, they should fit nicely.
-
first update. Test fitting the engine. Looks like it will fit nicely, though the inner fenders will stay in the box, or clearance for the supercharger on the passenger side. I started on shaving the trim, driver side is done. A little hard to see in the pictures. Passenger side for comparison.
-
Like it or lump it, this is how I like to build. My woodie. lol This I what I started with. AMT's 41 Woody Stock. I'm adding the 56 Y-block, with the rare 57 Factory Paxton supercharger. The AMT 49 Merc is donating it's frenched headlights. He is getting a nose job and a Shave ;D . As well as losing the bumpers. Here is the first mock up. after a little work to get it lowered and trim the bumper. The rims come chrome, with chrome Ford caps. I'm thinking of leaving them chrome, without the caps.

This is very interesting. I just finished a Revell unassemble diecast of the Fast and Furious 1970 dodge charger and just started on this kit, too. I'm doing mine a 69, but as a late 70's, early 80's street machine.
