  1. My entry is finished here is the link to the thread for it in the On the Shelf section. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13505 And 24 hour ahead of schedule.
  2. I entered this 55 in two community builds, the 72 hour Build, on TRaK forum, and the custom build off here. I had a few issues pop up during the build, the most not able is that the body/interior doesn't fit on the chassis very well. I started with AMT's 55 Bel Air two door sedan. I added the wheels from AMT's 49 Mercury, the baby moons and Appleton spotlights from AMT's 56 Ford Victoria, and the 409 from Revell's 60's tool 55 Bel Air hatdtop. On to the pics. Inside Outside And paired with last months 48 hour entry, my 32 Ford 5 Window Hot Rod. I hope you enjoy.
  3. I just finished mine, a day earlier than I was suppose to. Added a set of Appleton's last minute. I cut a hole in the hood for the blower, after fixing the nasty paint. I went with the taillights with the chrome. Here is a teaser pic. I will get some more pics tomorrow, in the daylight.
  4. I've been working on mine. I painted the window trim. I'm working on the body, I have the headlights and grille installed and the blower on the engine. I have to decide on which taillights to use. I like the one on the left, the chrome goes with the headlight bessels. I sanded and resprayed the hood, I may cut a hole in it for the blower. I'm still at it more updates later.
  5. It's time, for an update. I was able to get some paint on the 55 last night. I was not able to get it as low as I wanted it, but I think it looks good as is. I got some nasty runs on the hood, so I'm going to run it hoodless. Since I'm going hoodless, I'm going with a blower on the 409. It isn't as nice as some of the other builds in this, but I'm happy with it so far.
  6. Street Rod??? That ain't no street rod, its a HOT ROD. A street rod would have a modern V8. Very nice, so far. I would go with the steelies, the Nailhead would send those caps flying.
  7. I finally started My 55 Mild Kustom. I started last night... well, early in the morning. This is what I stared with. I got the passenger side trim removed. I may not get it done in in the three days I have to get it done, because the weather is wet and humid. I'll keep you updated as I go.
  8. Looks like you are making some good progress. Like a fine wine, a good kustom needs time to mature.
  9. Looks sweet. What are your plans for the engine? IMHO the flathead from the sedan would be perfect, but it is not my build, do what you want. Looks like you have a lot of work into the chassis.
  10. I finally get to start my 55 Bel Air Friday. I have been waiting almost a month to get her started. It will be a Traditional mild Kustom, lowered, shaved trim, Baby Moons, lake pipes, and a 409. I can hardly wait.

Nice Sewer Dwelling Mammal Rod. That "Hot Rod" is beautiful. Nice patina, the chop is well done, the engine is nicely done, and the wheels are perfect.
  12. Looks good, Rick. She is a fight, don't forget the faulty Parking Brake, the other night.
  13. The engine will be the kit Ardun headed flathead with a S.Co.T. Supercharger from Replica and Miniatures.
  14. that is sweet, the engine is beautiful, the paint is amazing, and the chassis is killer. Where did you get those beautiful slots mags? Are they in the kit?
  15. Sorry, I didn't get back to you earlier. The rear axle had the top filed a little to clear the floor. that is very little room, but if i had not told you would you have known? You'll need to remove the little nub on the underside of the floor, and file the top of the differential cover, too. As for the front axle to oil pan clearance I did nothing to alter that, the steering linkage may come in contact with the pan, but I have not gotten that far yet. If you use the same axle I used (#207, there are two in this version of the kit) you will need to file the bottom of the springs, to get the wheels to touch the ground. The chop was not hard, I showed the steps I used above. The glass is straight forward on this one, it is flat for all windows and can easily be replaced with some form of clear styrene. The hard part would be replacing the window trim, if I chose to do it, because it is molded to the kit glass.
  16. I going to be starting my build for this on August 1. I have it entered in a 72 hour build, on a different forum. It will be a quick build, by most people's standards. But it is a ton of fun. Look at the hot rod I built for the last Quick Build, we did there. This one took just over 24 hours to build from box to shelf.
  17. After working on the chassis, I chopped the top. I filled the "Nostrils", bobbed the frame horns, and filled the hole, and seems. It still needs some putty work to get it smooth. I decided to use the front turn signals from the AMT 49 Mercury as taillights. This is how it sits at the moment. I hope you like my little hauler, and sdrodder gets a little inspiration for his Kustom build off.
  18. I haven't posted this build over here. This in going to tow my 56 Ford Victoria Gasser. I started with the Revell 50 Ford F-1. I did a axle flip front and rear, to get it really low. Is this low enough for yah? More to come.
  19. Most "community build" are 6 about months long. Your end date of January is about right. It avoids the busy holiday season, but only just. I have my 55 mild Kustom signed up for a 72 hour "quick build", but I think that would be pushing it for this one.
  20. hey, I'd like to join in on this. I've enter another build off for a different site that goes great with this one. I building 55 belair Mild Kustom, it will fit this build off. I can't start it until August 1. Yes, AWBCRAZEY, you know the one.
  21. The with the rear end lower, it looks great.
  22. I'm working on: A Revell 50 Ford F-1 Chopped, lowered and shaved. Going to pull my stalled 56 Ford Victoria Gasser, to the drag strip. A Revell 67 Corvette Street Machine. And about a dozen others under and around, my work bench.
  23. That is a sweet looking sedan. I love the grille.
  24. That is a tough one, Phil. The second pic looks good, in the way of stance, but the wheels look too small. The first pic looks good with the wheel gap, but the rear end looks too high. It's too bad the dual dominators, have gone to another build. They where perfect for the "Dominator's Pizza" drag Caddy and, IMO, would suit the motor better.
  25. Looks great. The hood vents and rear spoiler are nice touches. I like the first set of wheels, but it is your model build it how you want it.
