  1. Sad news R.I.P Harry, a very talented model builder in his own right as well as his photography and editorial skills, and that dry sense of humour I'll miss that. Your free from pain now Harry. ......rest well
  2. Hi all I'm looking to buy one of these oldies again , I remember the last issue I had with the blue car on the box top (AMT/ERTL) had the firewall missing from the kit, I asked at the time and someone mentioned it went missing from the tooling over the years. Can anybody tell me when the kit last got issued with the firewall in, maybe the 1980s Prestige issue, or would I have to go down the vintage kit route.
  3. I built one of these a couple of years ago, more of a glue kit than a snap to be honest, but I really enjoyed building it. I did lower the ride height a bit, and I repainted the interior from the tan colour to red. I also have a very good rebuilder of the AMT 65 Coronet to do at somepoint. If definitely buy one again if it was rereleased.
  4. Hi all, latest model of the bench from me, a bone stock build of the recently reissued Transit kit. I have to say this is one of the easiest kits I have ever built, it literally falls together. I built it to replicate a brand new Van fresh from the showroom in 1984, paint is rattle can white.
  5. Doesn't work on resin unfortunately, Ive tried.
  6. Great work as always Al, I do enjoy looking at your restorations. This one seems to be one of the harder to find AMT models, I got really lucky a few weeks back and scored a really nice built up of the 66 Skylark annual kit, it was with an original MPC 67 GTO, I managed to get both for about £15 !! bargain
  7. Very true Steve, I'm remembering the brochure shot, the box cover art, and the cars pretty low. To be honest I haven't fiddled around with the kit yet, Im pretty sure it can be adjusted without to much of an issue.
  8. Ive used this for a couple of years its a very good product, does shrink a bit but then so do all 1 part fillers.Brilliant stuff.
  9. Thats just beautiful ! great job.
  10. This is a beautiful looking model. I have the kit, received it last week, the only thing that concerns me and I noticed this on the original built up test shot, is the ride height, has anyone else noticed this?, to me it sits too high front and rear, I hope it can be easily adjusted.
  11. I build roughly 12-15 models a year, the stash is around 170, I complete every one I start apart from one the AMT Peterbilt wrecker, been on and off on that one for a few years !.
  12. When I do my Youtube videos I tend to Americanise my words if I'm describing a model I've made, over 70% of the YouTube modelling community are from the US, so it's easier to say hood, trunk etc. Another couple: US- Brake Rotors UK- Brake discs US Transmission (or trans) UK- Gearbox US- Driveshaft UK- Propshaft And all engines are in cubic litres (ie 3.0, 1.6, 2.0 etc)
  13. Thankyou again for all the kind comments all, I best get on and build the other 40 odd screw bottom kits I have in the stash !
  14. Nice clean build Geoff as always, great work mate.
  15. Dave I don't mind at all, that is awesome !! When I was building this one I thought how strange it was that this particular kit survived, I wish the same could be said of the 64 Pontiac Bonneville and Grand prix ?
  16. Thanks Bill !, I'm happy with the colour, guesswork for me as we can't get correct paint for US cars in the UK. The Molotow chrome markers are very good I will say that much, if you let it dry thoroughly 24 hrs or so it does stay put, however I think if you handled the model too much it would dull the finish, you can always retouch it up however with no issues. They're no replacement for BMF but I think they certainly have a place in all modellers toolbox.
  17. Thanks Charlie, I do agree with you on the interior, I originally painted it white which looked way too bright and stark, so I used a cream colour, bit of modellers licence if you will lol !. I struggled finding lighter colour interior reference photos for this one for some reason.
  18. Thanks for all the kind comments folks
  19. Ha ha, I wish I could send all my foiling your way Tulio, I hate doing it, the 58 Impala was one of the first models I used foil on.......it was not good !!
  20. I have a feeling I've just bought a few of your old kits Christian ....hmm
  21. I totally agree Peter, the Buick engines of this period were a nice colour anyway sort of a teal blue, the camera on my phone makes the colour look a bit more vivid than it is in person.
  22. Thanks Rich, I used a Molotow liquid chrome marker pen, they are very good !
  23. Thanks Steve, that means a lot coming from you, I hold you in very high regard, you are the man when it comes to getting the most out of these old kits !.
  24. Great job Greg, it looks so much better for the wheel/tyre change.
